Telemarketing Cancer? Never ever pay a dime to telemarketing crooks.

Many calls from the 202 area code, so assuming they are all from American cancer society.

I found how to get rid of this caller - American Institute for Cancer Research.  The calls are placed by InfoCision.  Contact the Better Business Bureau, Wise Gift Alliance Department, in Washington, D.C. (area code 202)  and file a complaint.  Explain in detail what is going on, including asking to be taken off the calling list and all telephone numbers used (I know of six).  The BBB will then contact AICR and in a week or so you will receive an e-mail telling you that your number has been removed from their calling list.  You might also want to read an article about them at http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-12/char ... lemarketer.html.

These calls are not from the Cancer Institute and have nothing to do with them.  I turned the numbers I have received calls from into the FTC.  The woman told me that these are called caller ID spoofing calls.  Anyone can buy this information on how to do this.  It is a scam just like all the other crap that all of us get.  I called my phone carrier and I was told you can block them.  Call your provider and explain what is happening.  They can help you.  Never accept any calls from these people, IT IS A SCAM.

they call me every day.  I also received calls from other 202 area code numbers, twice or three times a day.  I answered two times and there was silence and then a click.  Now I don't answer.  202-600-2099 , 202-738-5628 , 202-461-3474 , 202-540-5118 , american inst or am inst cancer .

Like all of you, I have been getting daily calls from this number along with 4 others.  I took it upon myself to call the numbers back.  They all belong to private citizens, the last one today was even a phone number that had been disconnected.  I called the FTC and reported all the numbers.  She told me that it would be invesstigated and that what someone is doing is using an IPhone to spoof numbers.  When you get the call, it shows which ever the number is they are using but they are inserting the 202 area code into a real number.  As my answering machine picks up after just 2 rings, I can never make it to the phone before they hang up but if any of you are actually talking to them, please contact the FTC and report this.

I have made a discovery regarding these people.  I actually called two of the numbers and got the real owners of the number.  One gentleman is a truck driver and an honest hardworking family man.  I called another and got a woman.  It seems whoever is running this little scam is somehow maniuplating actual phone numbers and attaching the area code of 202 when they call but if you call them back you get the actual person that the number belongs to.  I am from Mesa, Az and the truck driver is from Phoenix.  He is going to contact me when he comes back off his trip. It is truly scary to think of how many phone numbers have been manipulated.  Here are the ones I get on a daily basis.

Almost daily, including Sunday morning, harassment from this organization
from multiple numbers avoiding the DNC registry with a non-profit designation.
A legitimate charity would not torment the general public in this intrusive fashion.

I'M TIRED OF GETTING CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER!

I have received several calls from 202-643-1991 in the past week. The caller lets it ring 3 times and then hangs up since I don't answer. All I see on my screen is "private caller". Who is this insistent caller?

I did the same thing 'Cheng' did from above in April:
"I called the number back and when it gave me the option to press "1" to listen to their message I did and then I was able to press other numbers and when I pressed "3" and it gave me the option to enter my number to remove it from their list."

Afterwards, it said they would try to remove my # from their list in a couple of days. Hopefully they will.

The American Cancer Institute called me on Sunday. They change their numbers every time they call so you cannot block them. What  is the matter with these people!!!

Got a call from American Institute Cancer on Sunday. Hung up on them when I saw the caller ID. They won't leave me alone.Too many numbers.

Getting several calls weekly, even weekend nights -autism awareness, cancer research, credit card........NEVER answer &continue to call. I don't call back. Why have these calls picked up in volume in the last couple of months?  I give only to local charities that do not share addresses.  Where are they getting my #?

Today, Sunday, another call, ID says Am Ins Cancer.  Rings 3 times then hang up. Yesterday they called from 202-607-2927.  Same thing, 3 times, hang up.  I see where caller SIRK has both of these #'s on their list.  Going to block the 2 I have and see if that helps.

They have been calling my number for days and they are using more than one number to call from.  My calls are also worse since the Do Not Call List was started.  I have had cancer and I will not talk to these people now or ever.

It says on my phone Am. Inst. Cancer but left no message.  Guess what, I had cancer and I still won't talk to these people, it is all a scam.

During the last 10 days, I have received 14 calls from 5 different numbes in the area code 202 region.  All are identified as calls coming from the American Institute of Cancer.  For the last several years, I have made a yearly contribution to the organization.  After receiving all of these repeated annoying telephone calls, I have done some research which will cause me to discontinue my yearly contribution.  I do not feel good about any future contribution to this agency.

They just called me, but I did not answer. I never do. So.... how are they getting money from fools out there? Maybe all that they're doing is fishing for "will answer phone" people and record the number. Then, they sell it to other professional robo calling outfits.

Just doesn't make any sense to me. They leave no message!
