I received about six calls this morning from an unknown number. When I finally answered the call, it was a woman with a very heavy Indian accent informing me that I had been selected to receive a government grant in the amount of $1,200. I trust no one, so I questioned her. She said individuals who are paying taxes have been selected, or some bs like that. She asked me if I wanted the money direct deposited into my bank account , or if I wanted it to be put on a card. When I told her I wasn't giving out any personal info, she became defensive, saying how she wasn't asking for personal info. When she verified my name, it was a correct, but the address was one I never heard of. Prior to this, she said she would give me a number to call, and then I would receive a pin number, I believe. When I wouldn't give her my correct address, she asked me if I wanted the money or not. I told her to give me either a phone number or address so I could look them up, because there are too many scams out there. She didn't like that and said she would hang up on me...I beat her to it. Stay away from this..just another scam.

Recieved the same call just now. Gave them a canceled and blocked prepaid debit card.... boy are they going to be pissed at me. Lol. But i think it's a scam also.

I got a call from a lady telling me I had gotten a grant for $7,000 due to me not having a criminal record and being selected by the federal gov. for this...Ask for my account info to due a wire transfer to my account and I only had to come up with a one fee...which was supposedly for taxes on this money that would benefit different charities that the government supported...the fee was $380.00. ...I was told when I had this money to call back and the grant money would take no more than 10 minutes to be credited to my card...the mans name was Daniel Christian

i fell for the same thing background noise and her accent trying to understand what she is saying and thinking why cant i get a job working for the government at least im American and speak clear english. gave them card # that is not even activated and they dont have all correct information.  called the 202-657-6272 the guy mike robinson said i would have to call back tomorrow because they were closing for the day and to call around 11am i dialed *67 before i dialed the #so that they could not get my information i feel that everyone should prosecute them all the way .....

I also just,received the same phone call n I was truly believing it because I recently appliedfor a government grant, they asked for my credit card number n gve it to them, but when I looked this nu,ber up I came to this page, and immediately reported it stolen ao I hope thus will trace them n possibky catch them

I also received a call from the number above explaining I will receive a $7000.00 grant.  Same scenario! This is definitely a SCAM!  How can we report these people?!  I asked why did they need my address and account information if they are the Federal Government.  The guy hung up on my and then it was busy when I called back.

This is perfect in description.. Iam 100 percent sure now that this was a scam.. Yes the excitement will throw you because iwas really going to pay them but iwas also suspicious about the simplicity, having to pay up front, and the fact that the number was unknown.. Ithank everyone here this is so much help.. Idont have any money to waste im eighteen with a child working trying to get in college and everything iwould have been devistated had ipayed and lost my money.. My trust issues sure come in handy.. I think that everyone on this website is truely blessed with great judgement and intellegence. Wow this is a shame but thak god for this.. Everyone be blessed..

This is the third time I've been called from the same 'unavailable' number. The first time, I didn't have the time and thought sure they were trying to sell me something. The second time I was at lunch and thought, sure, what the heck, I'll talk. The guy's name was Francis Williams. He was NOT american sounding, but we are a diverse people, so I stayed on. He told me MY information (name, address) and of course, they had my CELL # (we was talking on it). He told me I was chosen, at random, to receive a grant of $7000 from my US. Government. For someone so in debt, I didn't think they had it to give, but, hey, lets stimulate the economy. He asked that I only use the money to do something good, like shopping and paying my bills off. Sounded great to me, still does. Any way, he didn't ask for bank account or credit card info at all. Just gave me a 'grant approval # of... wait, he said I couldn't give it to anyone... Then told me to call 202-657-6272 and speak to his supervisor, Daniel Christian, and I'd get my money. YEAH!!!!
Fearing it was a scam... I'm not that stupid... I went back work and used the company phone to call the number back... What do you know, the call wouldn't go through. I even called the operator and asked them to dial it for me. Not a working number apparently. Well, that was that, I thought.
Until tonight.
I'm always up for a little fun.
So this guy, again with the heavy accent calls and asks for me... and totally mispronounced my name. Atleast Francis called me by the masculine, Michael. Any way, he told me I'd been approved to receive money and... (Aactually, I was a bit cross, he'd interrupted my fine dinner after a long, boring day at work.) ...I told him I'd been waiting for them to call again because the last number didn't work correctly... Indeed, I told him what the operator had. This guy's name was Ron Harris, he pronounced it Rome Haywis. I asked him his nationality as it wasn't American English or even Europeon. I actually asked if he was from India, companies are always using overseas folks rather than giving the people of their own country even measly telemarketing jobs. "No!, No!" he says and, by now you could tell he was getting flustered (I'm keeping this as short as I can).
We went round and round for a few on that, never did find out his nationality. He evetually asked for my credit card info, or bank account info and I, seriously, asked him if he thought I was stupid enough to give that info to him. Apparently he thought I was, despite the fact that he spent five minutes trying to convince me he didn't call me stupid. Ha! Of course he didn't... he just was thinking it! I tried to get them to send me a check, that was a no go, he just wanted my credit card number, told me that was how this worked. I told him he worked for the government therefore he could send me a credit card with the $7000 on it for me to spend. At least a check... Right?
Nope. I had to give him my credit card or bank acct. number.
.... So, after 17 minutes and 50 seconds of going round and round, we finally agree that he will contact Francis and have him call me back.
I can't wait for Francis to call! I haven't spoken to him in a couple of weeks and am anxious to see what he has to say about that seemingly bogus phone number he gave me. I hope I'm able to speek to him for awhile too. They always seem to call while I'm busy at work and can't talk.
By the way, 202-657-6272, is said to be a landline in DC. If I want more info, I have to pay $40. I don't care that much about this.
To those of you who have given info, nothing is never this easy. If you want a grant, there is plenty of paper work to get you there. DO NOT EVER GIVE YOUR BANKING OR CREDIT INFO, LET ALONE YOUR SSN TO ANYONE YOU DO NOT KNOW. There are bad and mean people in the world, don't let people like these take your rent, your car note, your house note, or your baby's next toy from your hard earned money.

I also received a call about being selected to receive a grant thats none taxable money from the goverment of $7000.00. He said his name was Josh and he needed me to furnish my credit/ debt card number so that the payment could be deposited. Figuring that I would rule out fraud I called the second number being this 202 while I had him on the line holding. While a second man answered suppost to be named Danielle Christine who was the accounts mgr. and was going to take my confirmation number and release the funds. Well he asked for my security code and when I asked him why he needed that he started to act differently. Becoming very rude and hung up the phone in my face telling me to call back the next day. Both of the men had strong indian accents.Due to the incident I have had to stop and close out my account to avoid any mishaps.Such deceit...Hopefully the police can catch these thiefs before they continue to do more harm. Believe it or not but I have had another call on my cell phone blocked again and when I answered the party hung up. When does it end? My confirmation number I was given is BY673 amazing the tricks criminals play..I also was asked to make a one time life time payment.

So, I asked the guy what is up with your manager?  After that, it went to Hell.

Well I did receive a call today about receiving $7000 grant.  I told him that it didn't sound right.  The government do not call you from unknown numbers and asking your for your account number.  He gives me his account Mgr's number.  Well I put him on hold and called right then and the phone ranged and then it hung up. Ha, I picked him back up told him what I did.  It stunned him.  So I said what with your manager?  He could not make up a good answer.  I was never asked to give any money.

well also just got that phone call and when i told him i thought it was a scam he got up set with me and started yelling at me (this is not a scam a not i don't want you to waste my time well if its not a scam than why in the hell is he getting up set with me

GOT A CALL FROM DIS NUMBER STATING I WAS APPROVED FOR A $7000 GRANT FROM THE FEDARAL GOV. BUT I NEEDED TO PAY A ONE TIME PROCESSIN FEE TO RECEIVE THIS MONEY,,,,I WOULD LIKE TO NO IF THIS NUMBER IS A CONTACT NUMBER N THE FEDARAL GRANT OFFICE....??

Well today I received this call. It showed up as unknown and out of the area (1st red flag). Then unable to understand the strong foreign (sounded middle eastern) accent and the noisy call center background (2nd red flag). The topper US government giving me $7000 for paying my taxes on time and not being able to spend the money they were giving me on alcohol or casinos LOL really. These guys need to get some new material. I contacted the local police and am suppose to hear back from them.

He said. He is a grants person smd want me to give him 380 for a 7000 grant

I just recieved the same unknown number, confirmation code and told to callback 202-657-6272. I called this 202 and it was busy, so i figured this was a SCAM! IT IS and i will tell his little indian a** the next time he calls a genie will pop out of his phone and bi*** slap his phoney a**!!! I cant wait for him to harass me, gots a surprise for his ears;)

it is not scam it is legitimate as i have recieved the money as well .....

I received a call similar to above.....foreign guy....strong accent....very noisy background so between the noise and broken language it was difficult to hear....I told him it sounded like a scam and he just talked faster and said to call Daniel Christian at 202-657-6272.  He had my name incorrect and when I said I think the government would have my name correct, he said we all make mistakes and it's just swapping too letters around i and e or is that e and i.  They had parts of one address and parts of an older address.  I told him I was online looking at this and it seems to be a scam which he said he wouldn't want to waste my time (too late) and said to call Daniel...I said I'd see and then hung up and put this note out there just in case it could help others.

i got this same call yesterday, lucky my wife was near  and told me dont do it.  They guy gave me  a call back number and code , i was on to his scam but just curious. So i called him back. he at first didnt know what i was talking about ,then  started asking for my wifes info . I asked him why do you need her info if ,im getting the grand . He started to get rude. and kept asking me my wifes age so i said 105 . He said What you like old P***  .   I then hung up and called the bank and the cops . No i didnt give him my bank info but he did know my address  that i didnt give him. the cops called him back and agreed it sounded like a scam. and it will be followed up by there detective. This is a real scarry thing because of course all of us get exsited over free money. but as my wife has said " the goverment is in dept they take money they dont give it out. for nothing" !  And keeps calling ,

got a call from the same number (202)657-6272. The girl that call she calls from an unknown number, but gives you her so called accountant number (the number above) saying his name is DANIEL CHRISTIAN. So I called trying to see was it true, and boy was I wrong. This guy is rude in has being playing and harassing me on my phone for the last 24hrs. Calling me out of my name and threating to kill me and hack my accounts. Just because I told him this sounds like a SCAM..and I would be happy if you guys will stop calling me.

Some people call from 202-657-6272 today 03/05/2012  offeryng 7000.00 from goverment  becouse i pay taxes an no have any problems. They ask for 400.00 to transfer to his accaunt.

i got a call today from this jerk, and was giving a 7,000 dollar grant also and it sounded to good to be true until he asked for 250.00 wire to wire fee..... please dont fall for this!!!!! i reported them to the local news in my area, so people would be aware.....

I got the call today and it is the same bull. saying I will get a $7000 Govt grant.. What can be done to arrest these people to stop this fraud? I gave my information before I checked. It was stupid and I know but I need the money anf they know it now I am in danger of losing money. I am  closing that account but the hassel is a lot of trouble.

This is misusing the name of the Government for God's sake. I was today's victim but thank God i realized before giving them my information. Coz if the Government selected me i guess they must have all my information. I think p'ple should think twice b4 asking for free money.

Yes! I think it was a scam.so everybody must be informed about this stupidity. Let your friends and relatives know this before they might become a victim!
It happened to me today early in the morning wasting my time.But thanks God ! I was really asking many things to  Daniel and I told him I can't pay for it!

I received a call for like two weeks from Daniel Christan with the same foriegn accents. He said that I was approved for a 7,000 grant for the government and that if I was to western union 375.00 that I would have my wire of 7000 in a matter of min. Seemed pretty weird to me that the government is just giving away 7,000 and we here in the United States of America are facing bigger problems than a gov. grant. Then wouldnt it be even more weird that the first thing foreigner Daniel had to tell me I guess You would call this Information about my grant was to not use it on drugs or alcohol. He also gave me a confirmation number of AM121. Then said to call them tomorrow with the money when I was ready to make the transaction but make sure that I call them first. Meanwhile earlier in the year I applied for a grant and put in all of my information and then this month they started calling saying that they had my ssn so I believed them but when it came down to the phone call from them mentioning a grant I thought it was the government actually calling till I had my wife call and she got a voice mail.

I  got a phone call saying that I had been picked for a $7,000 grant from the goverment which I never apply for.  They was asking for the bank name and a account # to put the money in and in the end,they said I need to pay $350 to a charity that help those in need. They gave me a Conformation # of BN007 to transfer the money from the federal bank to my bank.

You really think the government is going to give you $7000 if you wire money to these crooks first???

LOL there is no government grant for chronic stupidity, but sometimes there is a fee!
