These calls are produced by scammers seeking to exploit public anxiety over the erosion of Constitutional protections.

Simply scammers, fraudsters, and con artists.

The NRA doesn't need this technique, doesn't use it, and doesn't hire anyone else to do so.

I had  been getting numerous calls from the NRA and related groups.  Many of them were scare tactics trying to get me to act to stop them from letting this country turn into an armed camp where the guy with the biggest gun wins.  I considered the number of calls to be an invasion of privacy and a violation of my right to privacy.    I eventually sent an e-mail to the NRA telling them to stop calling me or I would take action to tell my elected officials to oppose everything that they do.  I have not heard anything for 2 weeks.

These are Robocalls from the NRA for fund raising. They have at least five different phone numbers that they are calling from to my cell phone. I can't get them to stop. It's like Whack-A-Mole, if you stop one number from calling, another number starts calling. If you can block these phone numbers, do so. Unfortunately, I can't block numbers from my old cell phone.  Here's a list of numbers to block:

I get those calls too. When I call back, it's disconnected.

This board is about getting annoying phone calls.   If someone calls me and keeps calling me, I want them to stop, no matter what their "Message" is.   If they keep annoying me, I am more likely to oppose what they stand for, no matter what the theoretical rights they may be espousing.  What about the 4th amendment right to privacy, or does this group only care about the 2nd half of the 2nd amendment?

NRA (or was it the IRA) calling with scare tactics that there will be an immediate confiscation of guns if I don't contact my congressman now.

I think I will contact them - and tell them to oppose anything that the NRA wants.

Wake the **** up.  What part of "shall not be infringed upon" do you not understand?   I use my 223 to hunt.  **** off.  No choice here uh?  Pro Choice uh?  "life, liberty, and the pursuit of hapiness"...your a tool.

I just tried calling the number back to get off their list and it is out of service?  Hmmm. They've probably been reported and now will keep switching phone numbers. What else would you expect from the likes of a gun caressing organization?

Does your state have a do not call registry? In my state they do, but you also have to update it every few years. Try googling it. Hope it helps.

Received a call from a hyberbolic sounding man talking about how the "socialist Obama is going to take your guns away." He blathered on and on and sounded like he needed to be medicated.
I didn't answer the phone. It said press "1" if you want to be added to some list and "9" to be removed.
I will call back and be removed, but hopefully first I can blast them for calling our home.

You put so much trust in our Federal Government to protect your rights that you are willing to trust them with taking your guns away Huh?  Well let me ask you something, who is it that runs the DO NOT CALL LIST Hmmm?  isn't it the same Federal Government that can't even stop these harassing phone calls  Hmmmm?  What does that tell you  MR. Smart Guy?  You ever heard of COMMON SENSE Hmmmm?

Mike is right, our founding fathers put the 2nd amendment in the constitution to allow the people to protect themselves from an OPPRESSIVE Government, you know like the one we now have with Obama.  READ YOUR HISTORY and quit putting your head in the sand before it is to late.  You sound like part of the problem and not the solution.

Thanks for calling back several times.  The call center computer just validated your phone number as a person whom is interested in their message.  You will be getting more calls from other numbers as they have thousands.  Their lines are setup to black incoming calls from people that don't know what is going on in the world and are JUST WAITING TO BE SCAMMED.  They do not originate fron-March of Dimes, MDS, Diabetes Assn, NRA, etc.  They all want your money.  JUST LET THE PHONE RING. NEVER CALL BACK  
ALSO<  the DO NOT CALL LIST MEANS NOTHING--IT IS ALSO A SCAM THAT POLITICIANS MADE TO PLEASE THEIR VOTERS.

WHY in the world do you people call these numbers back.  When you call these call centers back it triggers a sensor that your number is a working number and they WILL call you back and probably from another number in case you blocked the original number.  If you don't know the caller-DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE.  Big deal if they don't leave a message.  They want you to call back.  These same numbers are used by call centers for credit card scams, political messages, sales of security systems etc.  They use names of political figures, actors etc. just to get your attention.  ALSO--THE DO NOT CALL LIST IS A SCAM IN ITSELF.  Non-profit groups, banks and their associate companies, your credit card companies and their affiliets are all legally allowed to call you.  Think about.it.    How does XYZ Company know you are on the DNC list??????  They would have TO PURCHASE THE LIST AND THEN ENTER THE ENTIRE LIST INTO THEIR COMPUTERS.  A list from all 50 states and a national list.  YEA< RIGHT.  The call centers make millions of robo calls a day for various organizations. DON'T BLAME BUSH--CALL OBAMA

Keep getting calls but no message is left.  They call when I am either at work or asleep so I never answer.  When I try to call back I get a recording saying the number is disconnected.

Guns do not kill. People use guns to kill. The problem is with people not taking responsibilyt for themselves.

Before you all start rambling and grinding your teeth about the citizens of this country not needing 'Assault Weapons', you had better get a definition of what is considered an 'Assault Weapon' by the people who want to keep you from having them legally! And while you are at it, find out who they intend to exempt from the law as soon as they pass it! Start reading your history, every time a country's citizens are disarmed, they become subjects to the Rulers! In the past it was the USA that came to their defense,if the USA is no longer a free nation, who out there will save us from this threat of tyranny?

No matter who is making all these unwanted calls,they need to stop! we don't give donations on the phone.Fake charities or not,they need to leave us alone!. I got called again yesterday around 5pm.

Call comes in no one answers on other line.  Have gotten many of these calls.

I agree with you, assault weapons should be banned.  This is the 2nd call I received in less than one week.  I requested my number be removed and they still called back.

In case you had not noticed, the times have changed just a bit since old Alexander Hamilton was around.  We did dispatch the Brits, have the largest armed forces in the world along with a pretty significant police and national guard presence.  I do think the need for militia is just a bit less now, no?
