This scard me!  I have been dealing with student loans and have been having financial trouble and couldn't imagine what it could be about!  Glad I looked it up on here and didn't call!

I have people calling me, for a person with the same name, who used to live in my town, now they google the guy's name and my info comes up, and once you square it with one of these scum bags, they sell it to another, and it just goes on and on.  I not only get phone calls for this guy, I also receive his bills in the mail, to include his child support invoices, collection agencies, and even correspondence from the IRS.  However, its the phone calls that bother me the most, they call at all hours of the day and night.

I have found the answer to all these annoying calls, it's called the Call Blocker, and it works great. I was looking for the solution to these phone calls, for years, and this is the best solution I have found yet. I bought mine on ebay, and it works like a champ.

I have gotten calls from them too. I blocked it. I figured it was connected 757-296-0105 or 612-424-5636 and possible a slew of other numbers. They claim to have preliminary documents to take about and want me to call them back before things escalate. They don't mention my name at all.

Much the same as above; I've received calls supposedly from David Wells, Amber Knight, and a few others regarding "files" they have regarding me, and them wanting a statement from be before they proceed further.  I owe no one any money, so anything like this is bogus.  They're fishing.  Don't bite.

I got the same call as abouve that they needed to contact me regaurding conflicting paperwork and I need to contact them before she "April" makes her final recomendations, because I recently filed my taxesI too tought it may have been related. I called back and a Mr. Watts answered saying who he was but not where he ws calling from or what the nature of the call was about. The IRS does not play those type of games. Told him wrong number and I hope that that was recorded for customer service.

I am CONSTANTLY having them call me on my cell phone. I have learned that the number is a mobile phone from a Level 3 Communications, LLC. Believe them to be spammers trying to get my information and will no longer answer phone calls from this number.

This number calls two times a day.  I have no outstanding debt and have had this number for many years.  Called back and got a recording.  Legally they must leave a name of the company especially if they are bill collecting.  Its just a scam to get your info.

Phone call today from "Ms. Drew" phone call last month from ms woods, then miss wilcox and also ms dulford. it was wilford and then changed to dulford.  kind of funny that all names begin with w and/or d. cant they be any more creative than that? described a legalmatter and do I remember talking with anyone? I said hell no, and she said dont use profanity with me, I am not using it witth you.  oh, all of a sudden you have a concious? LOL. and who is offended with Hell anyway??? wtfe. I told them to send paperwork to me and they quoted an address I lived att four years ago. LOL> funny how all of my other mail will get forwarded, but not stuff from them apparently. what a joke.

I just got a call from 202-688-0552. The lady got my land line answering machine. I don't answer numbers I don't know. Her name was Mrs. Vields. I know it sounded funny to me to. In her message she said she has some paperwork we needed to discuss and gave me a number to call her back at of 757-296-0079.

Really what legit company only offers a long distance number. I guess they need to start thinking about their stupidity.

Not to mention the number called is a PRIVATE and UNLISTED number.

Someone from this number called me and since I didn't recognize the number I always answer and put it on speaker and mute it to see what they will say.  They hung up so I called back and an extremely rude man named Mr Bowen answered. I have asked who he was and whohe worked for. He gave a name of who he was trying to find and I asked again who he worked for. He kept getting louder and louder so I did as well.  I told him I was recording the call and he got irate telling me he did not give me permission to record the call and I told him I was well aware of my rights to record the call whether he gave consent or not at which point he hung up on me. Just as a piece of info you do have the right to record as long as one party, which would be you,  knows the call is being recorded.  As a rule they do not want to he recorded. I called back and he answered again and I told him since he did not have the courtesy to listen I had reported his name number and the recording to my phone provider and I would be reporting him to the state attorney generals office.  He said he had already removed my number so we shall see!  I have nothing to worry about either and I am sick and tired of these vultures calling and harassing people.

Just got a call and they state they are DKS a debt collector.  This is one of many numbers this company uses.

Most of these calls (not all)are coming from a company that is getting information from an old credit report or discharged debt (up to 15 years ago). At one point these discharged debts were sold to companies for pennies on the dollar and written up as a "write off" for the company/hospital.

It is against the law for anyone to attempt to collect a debt that they KNOW is noncollectable due to being a TIME BARRED DEBT. They will attempt to collect it anyway with the promise of clearing up a matter and not prosecuting you. Highly illegal. Don't talk to them. If you ever get a real person, get a physical location and tell them you have every intention of turning them into THEIR state attorney general and to never contact you again.  Hop yourself over to the website: Federal Trade Commission and turn them in. If you don't have all the information zip them off an email with what you do have. It has to stop somewhere. I sent it all out to MY attorney general, theirs, the phone company in their state that serviced their area, AND the FTC. Not one more call. If I do get anymore, I do it all over again. I keep the forms on Word just in case.

they didn't leave a message so i can't call back.  i will call the number that called me and tell them to put it in writing and mail it to me.  i won't give them any information because if they have my cell phone number, they definitely have my addressand can mail whatever it is that they want to talk about to me.  i got a call once about a subpoena being issued in my name....welp.  i've never heard of a process server giving you the "heads up."  good luck all.

202 is a DC area code and either seems to be a scammer or someone trying to collect a bill?

I have been getting these calls for a few months from a few different numbers... I started using the app Mister Number on my cell phone, its a free app that will pick up and hang up so you don't even have to get voicemails from them. When a new number comes in you just add them to your blocked list. Makes it a bit easier, when they call me from new numbers now they don't leave me messages, they just hang up.

I get calls from this number every day and it comes up either Virginia or District of Columbia. When there is a message, I get the same thing as everyone above. Most of the time it's a message with a man's voice that has been cut off mid word. Getting awfully tired of it!

Yep, just got a call from the number.  All the guy said was this is a debt collector please call this number.
Never asks for anyone, never says who they are. Will never answer any number I don't know who they are!!

This is a shame to pray on people leading them to think this is a legal matter.  The first call is very intimidating, leading you to believe your involved in a legal matter of consequence.  The most annoying part is the fact they never give up.  I was called by a David Wells and thank goodness did not recognize the number and did not answer.  I have been on the internet for at least an hour to find out the source of the phone number.  I got no results except your web page.  Thank you for helping us to understand what this is all about, A SCAM.

Recieved a cll from 540-369-3052.... First of all the woman sounds like a wanna-be atty and second she doesnt asked for anyone..just straight out starts explaining that there are some proceedings againts me..well I thinks it me since she did not ask for anyone or say who this message was from...Scammers...will not EVER PICK THIS CALL UP ..EVER...WASTING MY TIME..

Same as all the fore-mentioned complaints: they don't say who they're calling for, what they're calling about or what company they're from.  They sound intense, urgent, angry (but professional, like lawyers)
--the implication being that there are some proceedings against you to which you have not responded.  I've now received my 3rd call.  "Amber Knight" (the name sounds like a stripper's) called twice and a man called once.  The latest message states they need "to obtain a recorded statement"  re: "a matter that involves you directly."  They call from: 540-369-3052 listed in Frdericksburg, Virginia and 202-688-0552 listed in Hyattsville, DC. It's daunting to hear they call for months on end.  

Here's some information that may help us all.  I haven't tried it yet. But I just obtained this information from my cable company.  If your phone is packaged with your cable, you can block these numbers using your TV remote.  You can also block these numbers by going onto their website.  I also have a landline and right now I'm not sure which number these calls are coming through on.  If it's a landline or a cell, call your provider, ask what to do, and post here.  Good luck to us all.

Same complaint as the others on this cite.  Multiple phone calls from multiple people re: "paperwork" that concerns me directly.  Another messages cites there is "critical paperwork" and the caller wants to give me the "opportunity to provide a statement."  They assure me it is about "preliminary paperwork" and "would like to help."  Made me worry it was the IRS because it occurred around tax time but the IRS would be very up front about who they are and why they are calling.

I have received a call from the 202 number as well. I did get an email from a law firm saying that I may be owed money from a settlement that was reached against Sallie Mae. Apparently they had a class action lawsuit against them. This is the only thing I can think of that it could be related to. OR it's another scam.

From what I gather here and other places on the web these 'callers' just 'grab' at random numbers. They're fishing so don't bite. I'd hate to see these people get any scratch from anyone.
