This number was given  202 697 9745 to me regarding a free $7500 for being a non criminal and paying taxes on time. I read all the other reports and sounds like a scam. They told me to go get a "green dot money pack" from Walmart and call them back to give the voucher number so they can put this money on it! Hah! I googled number and believe its a scam

Got this call today I was AT Walmart and almost fell for it. Got the call saying I won a grant for 7500$ for being a good citizen. I could pick up my money at Walmart all I had to do was pay $287 thru Walmart xfer services (moneygram) and in 15 minutes I would receive $7787 in cash right there at Walmart. Luckily, I had left my debit card at home and didn't have enough cash so I told them I would go home get it and go right back. Came home typed the number in Google and found this IM SO GLAD I DID!!!

-  they  are   also  impersonating  DEA  officials  /  IRS   etc....  with  threats  to  arrest you  unless  you  immediately  send money  via  wire   transfer /  western  union   to some   offshore  country  !!!!!   obvious  scam  !!!

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones......MOST   are  spoofed ( faked )    and  linked  to  offshore foreign call centers  /  countries !!!!
we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers mostly  in   INDIA /  THAILAND / AFRICA  /  JAMAICA  ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  fake  emails and  scams  after  posting  something  on   craigslist   (  old  scam  )  ...... collecting  for  non  existant  "  payday  loans "....free  money / scam  giveaways /  calling  on  behalf  of  a  humane  society..... $1,000's  in  free  gov't  money.........  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

**   mysteriously  call to  claim  they  have  several  thousand  of  dollars  to  send  you....just  provide  your  bank  account and  credit  card   right  away   etc etc.........scam scam

I got this call just a few minutes ago and he told me that I was chosen to recieve a government grant because I had never been to jail..well thank you for the compliment..hahaha but what a joke..that sounds lame reason to give someone a grant. Just saying. I called the 202-697-9745 but there was no answer so I decided to google and it brought up this page i thought it was a scam and i was right. The middle eastern guy I could not understand a thing that man was saying hahahahahahahahahah

Just got the call myself...what  a joke...not handing out my bank info to anyone who calls me.  Couldnt even understand half the crap he was saying and like the goernment is just going to hand me 7500 bucks.  I cant believe people fall for this!

My caller ID said Unknown. The lady with the thick accent said she was from a US Federal Government agency in Washington DC. She verified my name, address, and dob. She told me to call the grant department account manager at 202-697-9745 with the grant ID number she gave me. She said I was selected for a free federal grant of $7,500 and that I was supposed to use it on medical care, school, or bills. She said I could select direct deposit, debit (which I didn't understand), or cash via Western Union. I was skeptical of the US Federal Government giving away money that I didn't apply for and 2) the government paying the grant via Western Union and 3) the government selecting someone with a non-American barely-understandable accent to award this 'free money.' I still have hope and faith in the good ole USA not to outsource our own American government to some call center in India.

Same s***, Same story!! Only mess up they did was a got an actual name on my caller ID while I called one back, the other one tried beeping in.. Her name was Tina Rollins.. If anyone fell for this scam I sure hope this may help!!!!!

I got a call saying I was selected to receive 7,500.00 dollars form U.S. Gov. I asked if this was a scam and the woman hung up on me.

I got a call saying I was awarded a us grant for paying my taxes on time and never having criminal record or bankrupcy. Then she said it was for 7500. Her name was mrs jill parker. All I had to do was western union $290.00 to her. I said why do i have to pay she said to transfer the funds from bank to bank! I thought it seemed wierd and googled number and all your emails came up! I want to say thank you for saving the little bit of money I have!

Received a call from them and $7500 supposedly was for me, I called the 202# and she gave me the wrong address and said I will call you back we lost our "files". Ha then I decided to google this number and THANK GOD I did. I wouldn't have sent them money anyway.

yep got the call today and said the same thing mostly but the guy that first called was Joel Steve and his superviser at the 202-697-9745 name was Crystal Steward. This SCAM crap has got to stop!! Oh she said I wold have to have #290. ......nope not gonna happen!!!

I received a call yesterday and I heard the same thing as everybody does but the only thing different was the number that they gave me was busy yesterday so I said then go ahead. I never called them back again after 3 times of attempting to contact them then today I got a voice mail from the landline number which is 202-697-9745 telling me to call them back, so I called them with all the knowledge that I know that this was a scam. they guy on the other line was with a british accent and I went along and listened to his instruction and there you go just as I expected the 287$ which is not for them or anybody else and of course I'm not stupid enough to do what he says aside from that I have not even a single penny in my pocket to give. People nowadays are really desperate to get an easy money from others.

Today, a Middle Eastern fellow called me from a number that originated in Idaho yet Andy Watson told me he was calling from the US Fed Bank in Washington DC. Mr. Patel Watson then then pleaded for me to call 212-697-9745, a recorded mess. From a woman w/a British accent? Oh, Mr. Patel Watson told me I was chosen because I pay my taxes and have never filed for bankruptcy, this $7500 is a THANK YOU from the US Goverment! Thank you very little and "don't make me say to you the things I have in my mouth" A Chicago Dot said that to me once. Let's keep pounding on these Persons!

No it doesn't make sense.  It's a Scam.    This scam has been going on for a while now and is starting to get old.  Don't touch it.  You will lose 287.00 and won't hear from them again.
