Even a dumb a** like me can figure out this is not from the Romney campaign! I believe these calls are from Dems or scammers and I would believe it the other way around as well. Why would Reps send out annoying calls looking for support? Campaigners are much smarter than that!

Receiving repeated calls from this and similar numbers in the 202 area code.  I do not know anyone in Washington, DC.  Have filed my number with Do Not Call registry, and filed a complaint regarding calls from this number.

I'm curious whether or not anyone has ever answered to see who is actually calling and what they have to say.

I've been getting calls from this number for weeks now on my mobile phone.  I never answer since I don't know who's calling and they never leave a message.  Why can't they be blocked?  They seem to call at all hours.

And the democRAT party consists of low-ball union thugs who will stop at nothing to lie their way into another term. You don't get it, do you? These calls are a scammer pretending to be representing both parties.

Previous calls from DC originating numbers have had a recording of what sounded like screaming monkeys ([perhaps it was a live feed from the congress ;))

Got a call from this number this morning around 10:30 they did not leave a message.

Mitt's recorded voice asking for money to defeat Obama-Could be a scam as Mitt has plenty of money, much more than I, but who knows.I started getting these calls after I participated in a phone vote to an 800 number to defeat Obamacare.Different numbers and callers frrom the 202 "DC" area code-could it be that the original vote caller list was sold to different organisations for their nefarious purposes?

What you say is true, but legal political robo-calls are required to give a valid telephone contact number and disclosure of the name of the organization paying for the call which I don't believe these calls are doing -- so in that sense they are illegal.

But, the more important point is that these calls are not coming from Romney, the Republicans, or people/organizations that support either -- on in the case of similarly designed pro-Obama calls from Obama.  

The callers are most likely scammers (and likely based outside the U.S.) after your money and/or identity while having no concern whatsoever about the politics.   The calls are in the same vein as the ones giving the illusion of coming from your bank and giving you the umpteenth final notice to lower your credit card rates or the calls promising to send you x amount of money if you will just provide your credit card or bank account info as gesture of good faith.

Don't bother yanking out your land-line--I just got a call from the same number on my cell phone Irritating, isn't it?

Hi, this is Mitt Romney....

It was a robo call from the robo candidate.  Mitt has been running for President for 6 years....guess the 200 million dollar man wants a new hobby.

Called back and got a"this number is no longer in service".  Apparently they don't want to talk to the "little people"...

Yet another from the Nation's Captiol...added to the ever growing 'black list' to block the number.

Marked as SPAM entry on my phone with no ringtone.  Problem solved.

Called but left no message.  For the past several days now, we have been receiving these "Washington DC" calls.

We are on the state and federal Do Not Call lists.

Have now blocked this number from calling again.

I've received multiple calls recently with the caller ID name showing as "Washington D.C.", but the supposed calling number is always/usually slightly different.  Is that how they are getting through?

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign countries !!!!
we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers  in  INDIA /  THAILAND  ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  free  money / scam  giveaways / humane  society  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

Who the hell is Newt Romney?  Watch the news one and a while.

Got the call and only heard a garbled recording so I hung up.  It seemed suspicious so I checked the internet and found this site with others complaining.  Wondered if it was political.

I got the same call time after time from the same number.  When I finally got sick of it and answered, it was a democratic fundraiser...NOT for Romney or the GOP.  My suspicion is its NEITHER party, but a scam looking for a credit card contribution, and the mix up their speech depending upon who is making the call.

Robocalls are NOT illoegal, and are used by BOTH parties.  And politocal campaigns are exempt from the Do Not Call Registry, if that's where you are going.
