Was called to receive Government grant.Asked for money from western younion.Is this a scam?

Same thing happened.  Said because I had no criminal history and paid taxes.  And the guys name was Ethan.  But the number that showed up on  my caller id was 011-202-7381.  But I need to call back.  Not happening.  caverdema@yahoo.com

I just got a call from this number saying I would be receiving money from the government because I had paid my bills on time and had no criminal record. Total to be received would be $5,000 and all I had to do was call this number back with my approval ID given to me by "Officer Ethan" who sounded of middle eastern descent.  It's a scam if you ask me.

I got a call from this phone number saying I won $5000 because I put my name in to win a grant. The only thing was I needed to go get a green dot card for $198 to pay the courier that was going to drop off my check to me. He ratteled off an address to me that I was supposed to be at in DSM, IA and when I told him I was in MO he asked if I had any family that lived at that adress. I asked what the address was again and he wouldn't tell me but said he would get my address later.  He wanted me to go right then to get the green dot card for the courier and I told me no, I was headed to an appt. So he said he would holdthe money for me for 1 more day and call me tomorrow. I'm pretty sure grants don't work like that.

I have gotten 2 calls today from this number & I hung up.

It's a scam. An Indian lady named anjelina called and said I get 9k and will get it in an hour by someone dropping it off to me. An executioner and I sign paperwork when he arrives. I need to get a money pak for $199 read them the numbers off and they send someone out. They're robbing folks

I just got this call saying that I could get $9,000 without paying anything. The guy never gave a company name or his name. But he knew my name. I really wish that these people would leave me alone and quit calling me.

Indian accent wouldn't tell me company name but knew my name

This creep has been calling me for more than a year now.  He calls me by my first name (mispronounced).  His number comes up with a Washington DC location, but he has a South Asian accent, perhaps Indian, and is probably calling from overseas.  (It's a simple matter to buy a U.S. phone number online while living outside the USA.)  When told to stop calling, he goes into a foul-mouthed rage, firing F-bombs and showering me with curses, apparently believing this is the way to win people over.  Sounds like a real psychopath.  Wish there was some way to find out who he is and where he is.

I got a call from (202) 738-1413 and I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number.  I decided to call back and someone answered with an Indian accent.  He said that I was eligible for a government grant of some sort.  He was difficult to understand.  Also, I could hear many people talking in the background which was very odd. He mentioned President Obama and how people were getting $200 to $300.  He asked if I wanted to receive a call back from the accounting department or did I want to hear more about the offer. I asked for more information, but he would not give any information until I gave him my first and last name, which I didn't.  I watch news every day and have heard nothing about free money from Government. Concluded this was some kind of a scam.

Last June I had trouble w/ my computer,called the Windows number,PCAssist answered the call,fixed my computer ,charged me 200.A few months later they called me telling me I had a trojan virus,wanted more money.They asked several times if I had my banking online,no I don't.Told me to get a green dot card.Now they have called again,telling me there business is closing down(I have $400 invested),told me they can't refund the money,but can have a new laptop delivered if I get a 200 green dot card,they will get the numbers,THEN a new one will be delivered and the delivery guy will give me back my money.OK,by now,they will have $600 from me and no computer protection.Ok, I finally get it,I've been scammed.

I HAVE RECIEVED THE EXACT SAME PHONE CALLS. THEY TELL ME THAT I HAVE A $7000 GRANT COMING TO ME , I DO NOT HAVE TO PAY IT BACK. ALL I HAVE TO DO IS SEND THEN $300 AND THEY WILL WESTERN UNION MY $7000. THANK GOD I HAVE SOME SENSE AND TOLD THEM THEY WERE A SCANM AND HUNG UP ON THEM. BUT I FEEL SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE WHO FALL FOR THIS. ALL THE PEOPLE HAVE INDIAN ACCENTS. I ALSO RECV CALLS FROM INDIAN PEOPLE SAYING THAT I AM A SUSPECT IN A CRIME. WHICH IS A JOKE I HAVE NOT EVEN RECIEVED A TRAFFIC TICKET IN MY LIFE. THEY START TELLING ME TO SHUT UP AND SHOUT BAD LANGUAGE AT ME. THEY ARE ALSO TRYING TO GET MONEY OUT OF ME. THIS IS A SHAME THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS HARASSMENT. I CALLED THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE, AS WELL AS ANYONE I COULD FOR HELP. THERE IS NONE OUT THERE. HAD TO CHANGE MY CELL NUMBER BUT THEY CAN STILL REACH ME ON MY WORK NUMBER. THEY CALL EVERY OTHER DAY. ITS HORRIBLE. I HAVE THER PHONE NUMBERS SAVED SO IF ANYONE WANTS THEM LET ME KNOW.

I got the same call offering a grant. They didn't say how much or what i had to do
But I also didn't ask...already skeptical. The u.s grant department
Does issue grants but yiu have to actually apply. Anytime a random asks for money first
It's a red flag. This has got to b a scam.

These people called saying I would recieve $7,000.00 but when I wouldnt give any c.c or bank info he hung up on me. Why is our goverment not stopping these scam artists?

A scam.  It'll collect your personal information and bank information.

Got a call from 202-621-0938 offering the $7000.00 grant that didn't need to be paid back. But they wanted $330.00. I asked for a number to call back for verification and they gave me this number 202-738-1413. Sounds like a scam.
