I just got the call from 202-738-1432 also. I almost did this and then called people to be reassured about it. Yes, it is a scam. Ashley Cooper the Account Manager and Kevin Foster who called aren't working for the U.S. Government. We called them to verify. If your getting a grant you get a certification letter of some sorts first, you will NOT recieve an E-mail or phone call. There's tons of scams and I'm a single mother in desperate need of cash. I am so glad I looked up the resources first.

Take a deep breath, and engage your thinking machine.
Here is how the scam goes:

The scammer tells you you will get lots of money, but you have to pay a fee or taxes or something BEFORE you get the money.  You then send this fee, via Green Dot or Western Union to the scammer.

The scammer disappears with your money.
You see no big bucks coming your way.
You cannot recover the money you sent.
You lose the money.
You are then poorer than when you started.

It might be "leginment" (whatever that means), but it is certainly not legitimate.

Things to believe:

* There ain't no such thing as a free lunch (TANSTAFL)
* If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
* You have not won big bucks from an unknown benefactor or a grant from the government <<<<<<<<<
* The tooth fairy really does not exist
* Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
* It is illegal to pay money for a loan, BEFORE getting the loan!
* "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
* Microsoft did NOT call you to fix your computer.
* The moon is not made of green cheese.
* The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
* Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
* If you "green dot" or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.

They also said that they would western uk non it that I need to pay 200.00 dollars

Yes I got the very same call.telling me that I was approved for a 9000.00 grant to spend as I like ,told me I didn't have to pay it back.I'm checking with b.b.b. To see if it's leginment.

If you Google the number 1-202-738-1432 it says it's a scam.I got the same call minutes ago. They said I won a federal grant for 9.000.And they gave me a code too call in and then they wanted 250 dollars so I could get it that's when I said good by :)

I got the same call. They claim the 202 number is in Washington, DC  I elected not to call that number back figuring this is a scam.  I worry for people who are truly in need of this much money or senior citizens who are desperate and will fall for it.  I wish our government could catch these idiots and punish them, but most likely they are from a foreign country and can't be caught.

Hi, I received the same call only from another number 202-280-7101 that was requesting personal information because I had "won" a $ 5k grant :(  When I requested a call back I received the 202-738-1432 number, but the information was the same.

Same exact conversation just took place with some India decent lady named "Teresa walker"  and asked if I wanted the money put into my checking acct or wired through Money Gram-bc I figured this was a scam I recorded the call and also elected to have it wired and that's when I was told to call her Manager "Nick Richards"  to be given the next steps to take

I got a call like that too just 2 minutes ago saying that I had been "randomly selected" to receive $7000. First a woman called saying her name was Gracy Jones. She told me to call a guy to finish the process or whatever. The guy she told me to call was named Nick Richards. (Pretty fake names now that I think about it.) They claimed they were from the U.S. Dept. of Human Services.... but they wanted me to donate $250 to poor people BEFORE I got the money. I told "Nick Richards" that "Gracy" told me I don't have to pay anything back... at which time "Nick" got frustrated and pretty much told me that I had to pay him if I wanted this amazing money opportunity.
Arrest them.

Most likely calling from Jamaica and using a MagicJack.

This number called us and said we were receiving a $7000 government grant. Further, he said we had to wire him $250 for the processing. He had a foreign accent and said his name was John. Please don't be victim this is definitely a scam.
