More summarized experiences to prove the point that it is an automated computer or robot caller and not a person named John:

" I recieved a call from this company tonight asking for my ex-husband who hasnt lived in my house since 2003.  When I tried explaining that to the young man that called, he kept talking over me and asking me to let my ex know that the Velveteen Rabbit is playing at a local cinema. After attempting for a second time to tell him that my ex did not live here and TRYING to ask him not to call back, he rudely said just tell him and hung up on me.  This is rediculous.  I hope the company doesnt hire this kind of person on a regualr basis and I do hope they do not call my house again. I wont be so nice a second time around."

^^The reason they wouldn't listen is because the computer wasn't programmed to understand the implications of a sentence like "my ex-husband hasn't lived in the house since 2003"

"I received a call from this number this morning - it sounded like a robocaller as the voice was monotone and was nonresponsive to my answers. Nonproffit or not, this group has gotten in trouble before in Utah."
http://consumerist.com/5157145/how-the-velvet ... kyline=true&s=i

^^That person realized it was a robot!!

==> YOU WERE TALKING TO AN (almost) INTELLIGENT COMPUTER.

And why did they call even if you were on the do-not-call registry? Because they're registered as a non-profit company, which is not covered by the do-not-call. But it looks like they're kinda doing it for Hollywood companies, maybe in a roundabout way.

==> THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY SLIMY THING

These guys called me like 2 years ago. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that it was an incredibly intelligent computer-voice talking to me. It is very scary. The thing you talked to on the phone probably wasn't a real person. I quote from other users:

"A rep called me on my cell phone and ignored me completely. I asked 3 times how he got my cell phone and he resonded by saying he would be glad to send me some movies in the mail. He then hanged up on me."
(ie, the computer panicked and got itself out of the situation)

"These doucebags called with an automated voice recognition system!  Did anyone here not catch that?  Are you all that sheepish? GOD HATES KIDS!"
(someone else figured it out too)

I just got a call from this number. The organization is KidsFirst.  They are looking for people to watch and review two movies.  You get to keep the movies. It looks like they just call random numbers to get more variety on the feedback. The gentleman I spoke to was extremely polite.

I got this call two days ago.  I didn't know who it was but I heard a voice but did not recognize the number or the person, so I hung up.  I have a pre-pay phone which normally does not get any of these types of calls, a benefit of paying before calling, I guess.  If they would have called me at home, I probably would listen and accept their offer, but at $0.25/minute, I would not listen.

This number called my cell phone, which is registered with National DNC. The caller identified himself by a common first name (I forget the name) and said that it was not a sales call. I asked if he was a machine, and he said no, but then went into the exact same speech (word-for-word) about how it wasn't a sales call. I then told him that I am registered on the Do-Not-Call registry and that he is, in fact, a telemarketer and asked him how he had gotten my number. After about ten seconds of no response, I told him not to call me back and hung up.
I have just now filed a complaint on the National Do Not Call Registry website.

Got a call on my cell - told them I had to pay for my minutes and hung up.  Then a few days later they called my land line at 8:00am.  Not very compelling practices if they want my cooperation!

I don't really care if they're nice--my cell phone is a private number and I do not want them calling it. Furthermore, I'm not sure how they were able to get a hold of my number, seeing as how I do not list my cell phone number.

Oh, and I've listed my phone on several "do not call" lists--state and national.

I do not care who they are or what they do, I do ot appreciate getting unsolicited calls on my cell phone, as I have to pay for them.

Telephone solicitiation is obnoxious enough, but when it costs the recevier money it is infuriating.  The end is not justified by the means.

Grrrrr!

They are lying about calling numbers at random - a friend of mine and I got calls within half an hour of each other.  They're apparently getting the names from somewhere - maybe referrals from friends?

I resent being solicited on my cell phone at work.  I belong to the Do Not Call List and it seems that these people think that these rules don't apply to them.  If you want something from me, send me a letter!

Not anxious to have anyone call my cell other than those I designate I don't care what the cause is.  Hope this isn't a trend and if is will block those calls. They didn't leave a voice mail, I missed the call, and of course I didn't recognize the number.  I think charities should be listed also on the do not call list or at least we have the option to choose to block them.  If they had called my home number I would have seen it a bit differently.  But sounds like some people didn't have the same views as I do and accept that.  That's on their bill.

I do not like receiving solicitation calls, whether there are free materials or not. This company needs to be reported for violating such laws.

This is so ridiculous.  Look at all of these posts "Curious to see what these FREE films are all about", "I am skeptical, but glad to help a good cause", "Maybe we should all answer and see if we can actually clean up entertainment!!", "I recently recieved two movies after answering a call from this number. I would just like to let you all know that my daughter loves them, and they have some great values", "Not a scam", LOVED the free films they sent me! Soooo glad I took the call even though it was on my cell."

Come on?  Really?  Everyone is super excited about being cold called?  Somehow I doubt it.  I think maybe it's more likely that this website has been spammed by the cold callers.

I got a call from this number (2027477355) and this slow-speaking, half-brained guy tells me that I had called his company, Kids First, earlier but I forgot to give my address.  I asked him if Kids First was a children's company and he replied, "Uh, we give you two free movies."  I responded, "two KIDS' movies?"  To which he said, "Uh, children and adult movies." I told him I had never called his company but he told me that his records showed otherwise.  I asked him if it was a scam and he obviously denied it.  Then I hung up.

I don't care who they are, or how polite they were. The gentleman (John, again...) was very polite, but this is my cell phone. i don't give out this number to ANYONE let alone a telemarketer. Even if you're not selling anything, i don't want to have to get calls from people I don't approve... this is a sneaky way to get around teh do not call list. which i reported them anyways. They need to find another way to do their marketing. I HAVE 2 small children and fill out a TON of surveys, there is a better way for them to contact people rather than cold calling them

I find it interesting that people are upset that this is perhaps a legitimate company trying to do something good, and people are upset about it.  People are upset if it's a scam, and they're upset if its legitimate...I dont get it.  There's no pleasing people.  I work in the "telemarketing" industry, so when I got this call on my cell I was taken back.  I guess they can call me cell because they are non-profit.  I like what they are doing and support them.

I've been getting calls on my cell phone from this number and don't appreciate being solicited even if it is from a non-profit.  I wonder how many of the comments above are actually paid or from members of this "organization".  It's not credible that everyone who gets solicited by them really loves it.
