Gor the same message without a name but from the "tax audit dept of IRS" .  The caller ID was the same.

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:

?You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

I received the exact same message. When I called back, a male with middle eastern accent answered asking for my Tax ID    saying they federal gov. has filed a law suit against my wife for tax evasion.  

Total BS!!  Scam artist!

With updated technology that can fool caller ID and auto-dialers, it will be very difficult to track the A**holes down. The bottom line is be diligent in protecting yourself from these predators. The whole purpose of the call is to "scare you" into releasing your personal identifying information. Whether they sell it, or use it for identity theft, it's only bad for YOU if you fall for their ruse. I'm happy so many people have reported these abuses, but the sad part is, they do it because it works. Alert your friends and family to help prevent them from being victims. Thank You

My 93 year old mother got a call from this number telling her she owed $3976.00 for tax evasion from 2008 thru 2012, but they could not supply numbers or dates and amounts; they used 300-400, and 600-700 as their figures in general terms of supposed documentation. I ran the guy who said his name was Jason O'Conner, and Mike Johnson and a Ryan Black I spoke to on my third *67'd callback and he didn't know who Jason O'Conner was, nor could he connect me even when I told him J. O'C was the head of the IRS there in his office, which sounds like a typical 'BOILER ROOM' for some scamming company, no matter WHAT they were selling. TOTAL B***S***,  the guy couldn't pronounce HOUSTON with his Indian accent; he kept calling it HOSTIN, and I got him crazy and upset and yelling at me, saying he didn't call me for money, and he was going to send the  county sheriff and city police to have her arrested for tax evasion! I called and reported it to TEXAS STATES ATTORNEYS office, 800-621=0508 of Consumer Protection, and the girl who answered tokk my details and asked me to also call and report it to the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION at 877-382-4357. The office in Texas said they knew this number and it was a scam. They know about the scammers but cannot locate them via their phone number which is computer generated and bounced off satellites, etc., in order to hide them.

We got the same call as Gina twice on our recorder. Sensing it was a scam, instead of calling back, I went to this web site.

Just received this call.  These folks should be PROSICUTED!  So scary and threatening.

I have received two calls from the number above stating we have a tax fraud case headed for Federal Court.  We are to call this number to take measures to take care of this matter before it reaches federal court.  Prosecute these abusive scam artists.

I got the same message as you guys did, and I called the number, sensing it was a scam. The guy immediately asked me for my Tax ID Number, which I refused to give until he gave me more info about why he was calling. Then he laughed at me and hung up. Scum.

This is the message they left on my voice mail:
"Hi my name is Sarah Lopez calling you from the tax department at the Internal Revenue Service is. This is to inform you that we have received a legal petition against your name concerning tax evasion a tax fraud before this matter goes to the federal court house or before you get arrested by the County Sheriff's officers kindly call us back on our number which is 2027512551. I repeat 2027512551. Don't disregard this message and do return the call before the situation goes worse on you. Thank you and have a wonderful day."
The caller ID showed this number: (347) 559-0378.
