yeah i got voicemail today saying that i had a refund for 2173 from that 2028009866 s*** i need the money ut i aint no fool talking out they from the irs i know the irs number by heart and that aint it

This number called me and claimed to be IRS, same as all the other posts as this thread state - That there were errors on my previous tax returns and that I paid more money than I should have. In order to get the $2174 refund I had to Western Union or Money Pak the $200 fee to process it since the error was mine, the IRS just caught it. When I expressed my skepticism and stated that the IRS doesn't accept Western Union the man (he had an Indian Accent) got agitated, said that he was doing me a favor and that he is going to close my account and then promptly hung up on me. I am very nervous as to how they got my information. Does anyone else know if they call this number back if there have been any consequences? Should I be worried that they have information such as my social security number etc?

Also, I forwarded the voicemail and phone number to phishing@irs.gov - i encourage everyone else to do so.

I just got a call from 202-800 9866 claiming to be IRS and I had an additional refund of $2173. They had all my information. They stated that there was a penalty for filling my taxes incorectly of $200. That I needed to pay that before they can send me my check. When I stated that I needde to call the IRS # that I had to make sure this was not a scam they hang up the phone. What I want to know is how they got my information.

This is a scam. Do not provide any information and do not call back. You can also use apps on your phone to block the number. They left me a message on my voice mail but did not leave a company name.

I just got a call from 202-800 9866 claiming to be IRS and I had an additional refund of $2173. In order to get I needed to go to CVS or Walmart to green.moneypak and buy a voucher. Then he proceeded to ask for my bank account which I did not give. I told, John Hudson, ID #08644 that I was at work and would do it at lunch time.  After that I started searching the web and found this site.

I knew I couldn't have an additional refund as I see my tax guy doing everything according to the law.

The number use to be 202-499-1627, please type in this number into google search engine for more details,  This number called me and left a message.  It was an autmoated message saying that they were from the IRS, and that I had a refund of $2, 173.  I knew that was a lie becasue that was definatley not the refund amount I was expecting.  I was told to call the internal revenue service at 202-800-9866.  When I called it was answering machine that said the person at this exrension is not availble.  I kept calling a Frank Jefferson who had an Arabian accent IRS employee ID numbrt 078565425 wanted to verify my address date of birth.  I was uncomfotable with giving that information out so I didnt.  I told him I didnt believe him and how do I know he is who he says he is.  He told me to go into my local IRS office and verufy then call him back which was his final attempt to make me believe him.  According to other posts they will ask you for money at the end of the call I but I didnt get that far.  I am not sure how they have obtained your personal inforamtion but they have some stuff and want you to verify the rest.  This is a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  All they did was change therir number.  They are callng from the distrit of Columbia.  Hope this helps!
