These people have been calling me for weeks leaving the same message (we just don't answer the phone).  Their English is so bad that it's hard to even understand what they are saying.  I'm wondering how many times they will call and leave a message before giving up totally.  I wish that there was a way to find these people and put them out of business.

I have received a call from this number with thick Lady Accent mentioning about Tax fraud and asking do you have a auditor to represent? When we have disconnected, they tried two times and we ignored, because we know that this may be a scam.

Prank Call
Received a call this morning from 202-803-4817. The person had an asian accent. He said his name was Shaun Carter. I had to have him spell it several times because his accent was so thick. He said he was from the IRS and did I have a criminal attorney ?  I had a scam call like that before and researched it online. I told him to send me a letter (make it certified , costs money) and don't call back.

My father received a voice mail on his business line stating these bozo's were calling from the IRS and required an immediate call back from me.  This person had a very heavy Indian accent.  I have no idea how they matched me up to my dad's business number.  Based on the voice mail, I knew immediately this was a scam.  When I called back, the person asked me for my telephone number and I provided a fake cell phone number.  He said this number is not in their records.  I said maybe because you called my dad's business number.  I did not provide my dads number but asked who am I speaking with.  After some hesitation, he said the IRS.  I asked can I contact my local IRS office and inquire further.  His answer was 'do as you want'.  I said this does not sound like a professional answer.  He got irritated and in a raised voice said the same 'do as you want'.  I said I know this is a scam and previously I had one of your other numbers shut down after contacting the FCC and some other institutions.  He said 'OK, do as you want'.  I just now called the number at 10:00 PM PDT and it immediately goes into voice mail which has no greeting message recorded.

My uncle received a call from similar bozo's a couple of months back asking him to go to the nearest 7-eleven and wire an amount of $11,000 or risk being deported.  Since my uncle does not speak much English he was shaken up.  I asked him to give me the number and I would call on his behalf.  In brief, lets just say the next 3 or 4 conversations I had with the bozo on the other end was him being angry, using foul language, raising his tone out of frustration and showed no professionalism.  Based on how he was treating me over the phone, I could sense this was a scam.  This person also had an Indian accent.  I told him at the end, if he makes one more threatening phone call to my uncle, I will make sure he ends up in prison and he immediately hung up the phone after cursing me out.  I called the FCC and a couple of other institutions and had the number shut down.  When I called the same number about 24 hours later a recording came on and said something like 'this number has been connected to fraudulent scams from people overseas'.

A man named Michael, called my home saying that my daughter, Emily had a legal notice against her from the IRS - Completely Untrue!!! For our lawyer says they have to send you something in writing officially from the IRS 1st and they wouldn't be calling through a company.  The IRS would call you directly from a 800 number not a D.C. number! Plus we have our taxes done every yr. by a professional. Take Action and report them!

The clowns called again?. I told her that I am aware of their scam and that they were reported to both the FTC and IRS. I told her to never call again. I hung up, and she called right back. She cursed at me, so I screamed at her and told her never to call again. She called a total of NINE times after that! Unbelievable!!!!! I tried to report her to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, but unfortunately, their mailbox is full. I unplugged the phone from the wall. These people need to be caught! I am tired of being harassed by these morons!

WASHINGTON ? The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver?s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

?This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,? says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. ?If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don?t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn?t the IRS calling.? Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim?s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it?s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver?s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here?s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue ? if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don?t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you?ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you?ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their ?FTC Complaint Assistant? at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

More information on how to report phishing scams involving the IRS is available on the genuine IRS website, IRS.gov.
