Political Call

I got a call 3 times in a day and a half. Said it was a survey and robo caller asked if gas prices were still too high. Then cuts off. I figured this was a loaded political question

Yep, 3 different bullsh1t calls today so tomorrow I call Verizon and have the phone removed.  Then the basturds can pack sand as far as I'm concerned.  I don't get this crap on my cell and if I do start getting it I'l either switch phone numbers or just buy one of those throw away phones and buy minutes in advance.
Say goodbye after 10 years Verizon.

Happy that ghung  29 Mar 2013 explained survey - now maybe I will answer that call.

Cannot think of anything much more rewarding than getting oil from someone other than those  who believe that their main purpose on earth is to kill and destroy us dirty Americans... Why should we want to be obligated to those who desire our destruction??

Prank Call
WARNING SCAM ALERT.

Folks, It is just another one of the long list of scammers looking for personal information. Telemarketing scams are the new spam. The number is spoofed and is NOT coming out of the 202 area code. The survey is pointless, they are phishing for active numbers to sell to other criminals, and personal information and credit cards.

Best option, BLOCK THE NUMBER. Pointless, becuase they will eventually use another. But warn others and report the number.

Survey calls are allowed under the DNC list but criminals use surveys to skirt around the DNC list rules and then doop people by phishing. NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. And if any survey turns into telemarketing or divulging information. HANG UP.

REPORT WARN IGNORE and BLOCK>

NEVER ever call a number out of your area code back or that is suspecting. Never ever. The numbers are generally fake or unreachable. That is done for a reason, becuase they are criminals.

I just reproted the College Connection to the FTC.gov.  The College Connection called me from 202-777-9075.  However, just to make sure that I had reproted the correct number, I dial star 69 again, and my phone gave me 202-8880097.  I also reproted this strange switch to FTC.gov.  I really do not know what is going on.  All I know is that inbetween the time I received the call from the College Connection, my reproting 202-777-9075 to the FTC, somehow 202-888-0097 was put onot my star 69 system.  I never heard the phone ring once from this other number.  So, regardless of what ahppnened and how I got this other number, I also reproted this strange pheonomenon to the FTC.

My answering machine answered ... they left a couple of unintelligible syllables, then said they might call back.  Apparently they are trying to make their Bot sound more intelligent, but it was talking while my answering machine was talking.  Rude (grin).

Blocked.
Oh ... have you noticed the large number of "survey" calls coming from Area Code 202?  Maybe we should block the entire Washington DC area, and thus save some slots in our phone blocking devices?

I took the survey out of curiosity. It was about American oil "independence' (which is a pipe dream). It then went on about the Keystone Pipeline (do I think Obama needs to get out of the way?) Since the Keystone is a Canadian pipeline carrying Canadian dilbit (crappy oil), what does it have to do with American oil independence? Clearly industry propaganda disguised as a survey; should be banned by the do-not-call regs, for all the good that does.

Survey
TWO SCENARIOS: 1. survey is fake; fishing for numbers 202-888-0097; or, 2. check with your AT&T rep to make sure they are not selling your phone number to marketers under privacy opt-out if you have not specifically asked them to opt you out. some calls are from those you do business with if you don't specifically opt out of allowing them to market to you; either credit card company or phone company is selling it. you have to opt out.

I'm on federal and state do-not-call lists, so only way marketers can call is if some company you did not opt out with provides your numbers, like 2028880097, which called me every day.

they are fishing for good numbers..
probably using a robo calling computer  very much a shame we pay for their being able to harass us on our paid-for phones.

The same advise holds true..it is best NOT to answer, if you do it flags your number as a good number.

They will keep calling as they are robo calling with same block of numbers, as it seems they are set up on that robo system to fish over a certain time period.  If I keep getting the calls, I shall file complaint with law enforcement myself.  Will see how it goes.  I do not answer these type of calls due to spoofers and scam callers.  These days you can't really tell who is legit and will comply with any laws on the books.

If I ever do come across a legit survey company, I shall inform them I charge $100.00 bucks per survey paid in advance prior to giving the survey.  Then I shall see if they wish to pursue it with me. More if they insist on listing my number to pass along to additional survey and other bothersome entities.

There are decent products out there currently, that do a fair job of blocking calls, if you are listed on the nat do not call, make sure to report this number. They(FCC) do not go after a single complaint, higher number of complaints makes them take more actions.

Most phone companies are worthless, as it seems in a round about way they are legally prevented from blocking calls as the competitors(other carriers) seems to not wish their numbers blocked. ( half of the carriers provide numbers to some, that then allow them to harass the other half).
So they all are set up to not block each other companies numbers; hence it seems why you will NOT be able to block entire area codes or wild card numbers ( not with your phone carriers). This is hinted at and alluded to, if you read and research over the internet.
