Caller Name: Peter Morgan stated he was from the Drug Enforcement Agency and was going to extradite me to Florida for the purchase of drugs over the internet unless I send him a cashiers check in the amount of $4,000.

I just got a call from agent Peter Morgan today stating I should call him at 202-888-3255 ext 1157. It sounded like a scam to me since I have never in my life had any legal problems. I checked the the web for possible scams from this 202 number and found this site. It was very helpful t to learn my suspicions were right!! These people need to be arrested!!!

Same thing--frickers called me about 6 weeks about as agent Wright of the DEA--ignore them
| Jill C 2013-10-17 16:43:48 Unknown |
That's exactly what happened to me except they wanted $4100. If you call the number they called us from, 202-888-3255, they have someone answering the phone as the DEA. These people need to be caught.

Same here, Agent Peter Morgan called me today. about 3 months ago someone else from the "DEA" called me saying the same thing, left a different name. I will try and report it.
| CK 2013-10-15 20:09:54 Unknown |
This is a scam of extortion as per the official DEA website. Go to their official website and check it out. You can also report the call there. I had a call from "Special Agent Peter Morgan". He left his phone number and an extension. I reported everything to the real DEA. There is a place on their website specifically for reporting this scam. Please report it.

Yeah, "Special Agent Peter Morgan" gave me a call, too. I didn't answer and he left a voice mail with his number and extension. I reported the call and the phone number to the real DEA. I have never bought prescription drugs online. The only thing I ever bought online that needed a prescription are my contact lenses (which I had a 'script from my eye doctor for). This is a complete scam of extortion. This scam is listed at the DEA's official website. The real DEA would never ask you to pay a fine over the phone. Anyhow, you did the right thing in reporting this scam to the DEA.

The same exact thing happened to me . He identified himself as Peter Morgan with the DEA. He called my husband's cell looking for me. He only had my name and address, but stated I was involved with an ongoing investigation. They had information that I was buying prescription drugs back in 2007 online from the Dominican Republic and having them delivered to my house. He tells me that purchasing drugs over the Internet or by telephone is illegal, and that "enforcement action" will be taken against me unless I cooperate and pay a fine or bond. Apparently, the shipment was sent from the Dominican to Florida and then shipped to NJ. I told him I never did such a thing and said "why would I have your information on my desk and why would I be calling you if you never did this". "I'm trying to help you" and would keep getting forceful if I tried to ask any questions. He wanted to speak with both me an my husband throughout the conversation. At one point, I was getting so upset because this was freaking me out. I've never been in trouble or would do anything like this. He told me to stop crying that it makes me look guilty. This could be used against me in court. He then keeps putting me on hold to speak to his lieutenant. He told me that I would have to come to Tallahassee Florida to pay a bond and it would need to be done immediately. My husband told him (he wanted to speak to my husband at this point because I was upset, crying) that we have a child and my husband would have to stay home with him and couldn't take me to Florida. So the guy said I would have to come. Then the guy said let me speak to my lieutenant again and see if we could do something else. He gets back on the phone and says he will fedex me the paperwork and I needed to send him a certified check for $4100 to the Tallahassee court house and he would give us that address and to just put it to attention Luis Rodriguez. Once I sent the money, it would pay my bond and I would be enrolled in a defendant release program. I would have to report anytime I got a phone call regarding prescription drugs or got emails on prescription drugs, even spam emails. Once he said certified check, we asked for Peter Morgan's phone number and when he gave it to my husband, I reversed searched it and came to this page. I called the Tallahassee court house and they didn't have any information on me and told me it was a scam. We have also left a message for a DEA agent to let them know what happened. This guy Peter gave me a doc#, that was bogus when I checked with the Tallahassee court house and had us on the phone for a good half hour. That's how convincing this was. I was terrified, really shaken up and crying hysterically, not to mention this happens when I'm at work. Please please please be careful. You really can't trust people and need to be smart and look deeper into things.

Apparently, he is still at it! I just got a call from him asking me if I had ever ordered Adderol (sp?) online. When I denied any such ordered, he asked me what kind of game I was playing. I am just concerned because he has my address. I've lived there for 18 years, so I guess it is no secret . . . but I am just a bit worried about identiy theft, too.

The exact same thing happened to me yesterday. (I have an MP3 of the voicemail.) He identified himself as "Special Agent Mike Rodriguez" with the DEA. He did have a Hispanic accent, but not any thicker of an accent than you might find in the ranks of government and law enforcement.
I have connections fairly high up in the MPD and I have referred this to a lieutenant there, with my offer to cooperate with any investigation.

Caller was male with Mexican sounding accent (and sort of slurred sounding) claiming to be with the "Drug Enforcement Administration".
Stated that (named person in household) was subject of ongoing investigation and if this person did not call back that a "warrant would be issued for their arrest".
Couple of problems:
1) called it the drug enforcement "administration" (correct, but most people would say "agency".
2) cannot imagine that a matter this serious (already threatening with arrest) would be dealt with via answering machine message. I mean, this is the first we've heard about a matter involving the DEA and jail time (warrant for arrest, anyway) is mentioned as consequence for not returning phone call.
3) truly not involved with any illegal drug activity, prescription or otherwise, so scare tactic fails to scare, and 4) guy did not exactly have mastery of spoken English language, a skill you'd think an actual DEA agent would possess. Sounded Mexican with some alcohol, which by itself sends no red flag, but DEA in the middle of the day...should prolly be sober, just sayin'.
This has all the hallmarks of a solicitee fishing scam, which I learned about today from this site (thank you!), which involves trickery in their getting around the "do not call registry" resrtictions. By getting you (me) to CALL THEM, which gives them your (MY) number (via caller ID), and changes the status of any follow up calls to "solicited" (you called them, after all), effectively removing your number from the DNC registry. Your number is then assembled with others onto a list and sold to telemarketers, who apparently are desperate for human contact, which by default cannot be satisfied by their co-workers.

A caller from this number represented himself as a DEA Agent and was going to have me arrested unless I went to the bank and sent him $4000.00. If this happens to you call the real DEA at 202-305-8500.
