This number calls me but only leaves a message with a persons name and a number to call back. I don't trust people who don't tell me where they are calling from.

X- man this isn't EAS but here's their info http://www.easternaccounts.com/contact but you're better off contacting their BBB http://www.bbb.org/connecticut/business-revie ... ok-ct-73000107/# where it says "File a complaint" followed up with state and federal consumer protection agencies. They seem to have a problem understanding consumer rights. Read up on how their supposed to act. There are a few debt collector dirtball posts here. Yeah the almost professionals.

They just called my cell and the woman who left the message just literally "told me" to call.  Not asked me--told me!  Totally unprofessional!
And get this!  This is from their website:  "Eastern Account System adds the latest in Voice Analysis Solutions to improve customer experience and increase our success at recouping uncollected revenue. With voice recognition technology, we can now monitor live conversations between our agents and customers to detect and analyze emotion levels."
So what the heck does that mean?  They need to try that on their own staff!

Guess how soon I will be calling her back?  ;)

I received the same calls on my cell phone. I had Comcast, but I cancelled my account, paid my balance, returned my equipment and I keep getting phone calls about the "missing" equipment. I have a receipt for the equipment that I've scanned and emailed AND mailed a hard copy. And yet, they still call.  At this point, I feel like they're just trying to drive me crazy to the point I pay them to leave me alone! Sadly for them, that won't happen. I like my money too much.
I've checked my credit report and fortunately there's nothing on there from them, but I really don't know what to do? I've involved the PA Attorney General's office, but who knows how much help they'll be?
It's exhausting! I mean, really? All of the work on their end for a couple hundred dollars that I don't even owe?!?

Comcast is a predator of the worse kind. In 2006 I had a dispute with Comcast regarding exorbitant unauthorized charges they made to my account, since they were disinterested and unwilling to resolve the dispute I discontinue service immediately.
I personally returned their equipment the day after I cancelled my service however Comcast insisted that the equipment was never returned, and later  assigned my account to a collection agency. I was furious, and wrote a letter to the CEO of the company and finally got the matter resolved.
I vowed, never to do business with Comcast again. However in July of this year I relented and invited Comcast back into my home, immediately after the installation everything went awry, for some reason I could not get a picture and my email went out for several days, so I cancelled the service and returned their equipment the following day.
Like before the predator Comcast sicked a Connecticut collection agency on me who called on 10/1 and 10/4 to collected $68.82. I explained to the woman who called that I cancelled my Comcast service a day after installation and therefore should not be charged. She said: ?I willing never call you again?. I believe in the future Comcast the predator is likely to assign my account to another collection agency and continue the harassment. The call came from this number: 203-270-2924.

Seemed very polite.  Called before but never left a message which I really don't appreciate. If a company is legitimate & is calling for a legitimate reason then they shouldn't have any problem leaving me a message. Only a company trying to hide who they really are or are trying to hide the real reason for their call would feel the need for deception.
The man on the phone was polite and told me he was calling for a "Great Dane Company" whom I've never even heard of & told him I thought he had a wrong number & he politely said thank you and hung-up.  No nastiness, sarcasm or game playing.  I answer calls from numbers I don't recognize ONCE on the off chance they're legitimate calls. Then I block the number so it doesn't ring, but still shows up in my inbound calls so I'm aware of who's calling but I don't have to be bothered by them so I can continue tracking who is calling how often because there comes a time when they've made too many calls in too short a time period after which they can be sued for harassment. It's basically the "give them enough rope to hang themselves" principle & they may say they wouldn't allow that to happen, they're professionals, just consider the source.
Here's another little tip.  NEVER, ABSOLUTELY NEVER, bother asking to speak to a 'stupidvisor'  it's a total waste of your time since your call will not be forwarded to anyone's supervisor the subhuman slime who work for collection agencies for more than a couple of months know they'll have quite a few quite a few "nicked-off" customers who are going to speak with someone who has the authority to help them right away rather than having to explain their problem over and over to someone who hasn't the authority to do something to make it right.  This would work if they were dealing with HONEST people but your not talking about honest people here so if you ask to speak with a supervisor you will actually be speaking the the rep sitting next to the first rep you spoke to. Their logic being you get someone with a different voice so you think you're speaking to someone who can help you but you'll only hear the same old BS the first agent gave you. All they're doing is playing games and making a fool out of you. They never intended to do anything other than fool you into thinking you had a chance to resolve the problem when all they are doing is playing games, wasting your time!
I WANT TO LET PEOPLE KNOW THE ADS YOU SEE HERE REGARDING HARASSING CALLS & LEGAL FIRMS GETTING YOU MONEY FOR THEIR TROUBLES.  THEY WORK BECAUSE THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE ARROGANCE OF THESE AGENCIES WHO BELIEVE THEY'RE UNTOUCHABLE & Hehehehe.................
Luck to all,
Maegi

Yes this is comcast. I got rid of the service and returned everything to the local offices. I have my receipt but they are charging me 700.00 for equipment that was returned!!!

I went to comcast and showed them the reciepts and told them that they need to straighten this up because I am being harassed by a collection agency! They told me that it shows on their computer that I didn't return my equipment..so I show them the receipts, I get a sorry, let me update this. OK...I think this is over with cause I pay my bills on time...

HERE COME THE CALLS AGAIN! I told them I would fax or email them my recipt for the returned equipment, they told me that it doesn't matter, they have it that the equipment wasn't returned!

I went to an attorney, had him write a letter and had to pay for his services! The calls stopped for about 3 months and now here I am again!

IDK if its Comcast or this collection company but this is some craz..eeee strange insanity!!!

PS..I pay my bills and don't get harassing calls from bill collectors but I agree...BILL COLLECTORS ARE THE SCUM OF THE EARTH! In this economy so many people are out of jobs and they are harassed by these people! Since the gov't bailed out the banks, its time for them to bail out the people!

Message from "John Rivers" giving a 1-800 number I can reach him at and asking me to return his call.  This is probably regarding the Comcast I forgot to turn off when I moved from my old apartment, judging by other posts here.

Either way, I guess I'll never know. I don't return calls from people who fail to identify who they work for, what the call is regarding, how they got my number, or why I should care the slightest bit about what they have to say. My phone has a "straight to voicemail" option and I will go ahead and add this number to that. Problem solved.

He also said he's usually there until "About 6pm" without bothering to say what time zone he's in. I suspect he's not the brightest fellow (not that I expected a debt collector to have any real intelligence, since they obviously can't find a better job).

You guys really waste your time replying to people here? That's what you get paid for over at EAS or whatever?

Bill collectors, even when they're in the right, are the scum of humanity. They're the dirt on the bottom of the shoes of real humans. Some of these people are deadbeats for one reason or another, but they don't make it their career to hound others.

People fall on hard times. People make paperwork mistakes. People get turned off by aggressive collection tactics and make a conscious decision not to pay, even once they get the money.

You and your kind, however, make it your goal to go out every day and harass people for piss-tiny scraps of money. The second a debt collection agency calls me about some forgotten bill is the instant I decide never to pay it. I don't hand over money to the vultures of the unfortunate.

I hope you all choke on your telephone headsets.

Damn.....  Okay. You don't pay your bills on time, don't care what the excuses is... You should still have service for a while.  Say you skip a month and then your partly disconnected. Then something in the mail should arrive. Your first notice.

After after that it's up to you to pay your bill . This whole thread is crazy. What do you think happens when you don't pay your bill? And I love this one, I am on list where my phone is private and people should not call me. Call your phone company and ask them why they got that number. PS: Matt, then do aonething about it, made the effort to bi*** about her on a forum. Call your phone company and let them know.

OK but before I pick up the phone to pay bills how about they leave a proper message. 1st if your looking for me introduce yourself and talk with some respect and maybe I will pick up the freaking phone!! OK so your a legit collection agency, Prove it then I will pick up the phone. They are to many scams out there and i'm not taking a chance giving some person my info I don't even know who the hell they are. Tell me what the call is regarding. I want to know when and where and what is Bill for!!! Thanks again you loser, so before you go and start calling people idiots take a step back and gain some common sense. Also Some times people lose their jobs and are in a slump, thats no excuse to not pay bills but be professional and I will respond back the same way you treat me.

Received a few missed calls from this number as well...except at my office.  Mind you, I have absolutely perfect credit and never missed a payment (so I'm assuming they're trying to reach someone else), but still feel like reporting them to the federal credit protection agency.

Federal law specifically prohibits them from calling any place of business.  Let alone a fortune 500 company.  I assume they are too ignorant/stupid to try and google a number before calling?

I just had 29 teeth removed so excuse me if I am grumpy.  Not only do I have two numbers that match two so called collection agencies, I had a woman, off shore off course, with six kids screaming in back ground, who did not know how to do unpublished accounts.  Then she gave me a number it is a Spoko account, $2.95a mont h and belongs to a dating agency. Two min. after she hung up I got a harrassing phone call, that waS Tanya here, I said no, this is a new number, there's no Tanya there. "Well you are being recorded because your lieing".  At this point, I called the local police, because this is a brand new, supposidly unlisted, but is apparently listed Comcast account am wondering if people "off shore" are selling new numbers to collection agencies, giving out bogus info. What is someone woman, with a bunch of kids in India, doing trying to give me an unlisted number whe she does not know how, then gives me a "Spoko" number, and I get threatening messages.

I have notified top management in PA, that's what you have to do, eitherwise, you will go back to off shore people, and I think they have a good thing going. Selling our private numbers, that are new, to collection agencies, we don't owe money to.  It provides a good second income, how do we turn these people in for investigation though.
