Yes obvious scam.  Got the identical email below with the name John Daniel.

This is one busy person.  Got the same stuff off a Craig's list rental ad I posted.  Thanks for the previous posts on this person.  It didn't pass the smell test and I'm glad I researched it!

Advertised my cottage and got the same scam-this time from a Walter Ince. Honeymoon story, sending a check, etc. all a scam.

Am glad to inform you that the payment will be mailed to you soon, However, the payment is more than your rental amount because our feeding and traveling expenses was included in the payment for our booking. As i told you earlier in my first message that my wife's employers will be the one to responsible for all our honeymoon expenses and they have promised to issues the Check. You just need to deduct the full cost of our booking and extra $100 for your running around and get the remaining money send to our traveling agent using Western Union money transfer so that we can make all necessary things we need to do with it pending the time of our arrival. Just had the same thing happen to me. Listed a vacation rental for the upcoming F! event in Texas, and something about the response to the ad seemed off. So GLAD I found this page. As with others posted here, the man identified himself as Devere Walker (not Walter this time) and new wife Lexie, and her company was going to pay for the whole rental. First clue was the address they gave ~ 100 Reef Road, Fairfield, CT ~ which I looked up on Google maps. It's actually the address of the Fairfield police station.

I did a research on this SCUM BAG and happened to find this report
I would of fell into his scam.
I have been in talks with this man threw emails, and felt that something wasnt right.

Wow, thank goodness I looked up this number. I almost fell for this.  I too put an ad on craigslist for a timeshare week rental. He said his wifes company was paying for their honeymoon.  The check was going to have the company name on it.  He wanted the following info from me, "provide your full information, full Name to be on the Check.....Home or office address to receive Check, Zip code together with your currently phone number. No PO BOX Pls. I want a physical address".  The name he used was Devere Walter at 100 Reef Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.  The poor spelling was a red flag for me!

This same person "Devere Walter" with this number is trying to rent a vacation rental from me. Same type of lingo as another scam I received as an e-mail just the week before. Glad there are people posting about this.

I just got the Scam email from deverewalter11@gmail.com as well. I get to be a mystery shopper AND get paid $500 a week, all I have to do is cash checks and western union money to some random person ha ha. SCAM!!

I had an ad up on Criagslist for some headlights and a few weeks later i recieved a check in the mail for $1500, where i was then instructed to wire the difference between my headlights to a mysterious "shipper" that this guy owed money to. BIG SCAM. Don't pay any attention to this guy

I was contacted by this number regarding a freezer I put on craigslist stating that they would mail me a check and then once it was cashed arrange for it to be picked up. All that they asked was my name and address to send the check to. Is there any foul in responding to them?

I put an ad on Craigslist looking for a person to rent a room from me. I received several emails back....all with the same language. Figured it was a scam and withdrew my ad. Just this past weekend I received a check in the mail for $2800 from a Sterling Honda in Texas. Never been to Texas and do not own a Honda. Just this morning received an text from this same number saying the first assignment had been mailed to me. This is definitely a scam. Please be aware. No person to person contact. No names. Report if you fall into this.

I got email from the same peson in response to my ad - room for rent. I asked for the phone number, and this is the number  203-307-0016 sent to me. It was sent out at 2 am PST, so around 5am EST, phone source Connecticut. The email says "if your room still vacant" when I replied, s/he replied back saying that s/he will sign a lease and will try to settle in CA, need lots of info from me. and only will send out her application when arrive and no idea when will arrive. This is absolutely a scam. I will send back if s/he complete a rental application.
