HigherOne does not make calls to tell you that you are entitled to a refund as that is a Financial Aid issue. HigherOne only disburses financial aid refunds released by the university. If you opted to receive SMS or text notifications when these funds have been applied to your HigherOne account, you will get a call or text telling you that your funds have been deposited and are available to you.

The "troublesome activity" message is an indication that your HigherOne account is overdrawn.

If you are getting a call and not a college student, Answer the phone and tell them, it just means someone else is attached to your phone number.. you can get that taken care of by telling HIGHER ONE when they call..sheesh.

Its not a scam , it is higher one, its  a card that the school's financial aide puts your money on to pay for classes and books, so answer the phone peeps!  :-)

I've been getting calls from that number all week but they never answer.

They call me EVERY SINGLE DAY leaving a voicemail to call about my account.  I do not have an account.  I am a retired person who has never had a student loan and they are costing me money calling my prepaid phone everyday. Maybe they should issue me a check to cover my phone expenses.

This person called me too. SEveral times in a row today. They are in charge of a credit card that our local community college is giving out right now. I trashed it when they sent it to me in the mail back in the fall.

I don't have a card with these people nor am I interested in their business yet they keep calling me and sending me mail.

I received a call today from this number. I sent them to the voice mail and surprisingly enough, they did indeed leave one. It was automated of course. Something about a debit/credit card and to go online and check my program account status. The call back number that was left on the voice mail is: 1-866-309-7451.

This is not a scam. They do not need to be reported or anything like that. Higher One has called because you (or maybe your son or daughter) has overdrafted on their school checking account. Rectify the situation by paying the fees. If they called you by mistake, just call them and tell them that they have the wrong number. Let's not pretend that we are above reproach; if you overdrafted, just fix it. If not, call them because it will not stop until you do so.

This is Higher One. It is the way colleges dispense Federal Student aid. The automated call tells you Higher One has sent you your card to you. They advise you to go online and pick your preference of method to receive your rebate (your financial aid).

Higher One..phone scam.. i'm not in school nor do have any debt or credit card..never bother giving info to this number, best bet is to call the number on your card anfind out the right answers..i don't care if they give refunds its a scam if its not done the proper channels..

Higher One is a refund system that a lot of colleges use to refund students money.  I have one from community college and they want me to get another one for a different college and are calling and emailing me to sign up for it.  It is not a scam but I would consider some of the terms to the card a scam.

I got a call today from this number ..   It didnt look familiar so I didnt answer...  If they want to get a hold of me they can leave a message.

My son received a call telling him he was entitled to a refund.To my knowlege we have never dealt with higher one.

I went to their office and punched out the guy who called me.

I also thought this was a bogus call at first, but it is not. They call regarding your financial aid money tied to your school. In my case, the call was for a refund that. I never responded and they mailed me a check for my financial aid amount. It was an automatic transfer scholarship and I did not indicate a method of deposit for my money.

this company is screw up because I NEVER had a HigherOne credit card?  Please tell this people, to know who they are calling and get their facts/information straight before making this annoying phone calls.  NEVER ever dealt with company!!!!!!!!

This is a legit company not a scam. I got a call regarding my refund card through Front Range Community College. If you don't attend school, someone used your number as a contact.

Just happened, BUT, I'm a retiree who hasn't got a card with  Higher One, hasn't got student debt, and will report them NOW

Higher One is a joke as a company because they will impose on your life and put holds on the account for any reason.  If they call you, I would be careful as I have had a really bad experience with them.

Yes, it's Higher One. It's the college-related bank card company and they will call until the overdraft is paid.You can call them, but it will do no good since it's an auto-dialer. If you are overdrawn because of fees they charge, just ignore it until your new financial aid payment comes in. If you wrote a bad check or are overdrawn because of a debit, ATM or Point of Sale purchase, you probably should call them and arrange to pay it as soon as you can.

I do have a higher one account, but i believe this is a scam.  they have a recorded message stating my account shows troublesome activity and to call an 800 number, or go to a higher one website.  My account is fine and I think this is BS
