I got the same type of call today, but he said his name was James Taylor and his number was 786-375-3181 (which is a Miami number). He also gave the same contact info, MS00659. I said I could not talk now and would call back in an hour. He said if I did not call, he would call me back. Well, I won't call back, or answer his call.

I received a call this morning - couldn't get the name the line was very bad. He told me my computer had down loaded several extremely dangerous (?) viruses and that Microsoft had been following my computer and needed to clean these viruses off my computer.... I told him I had to check with the user of the computer and asked if I could call back. I didn't get any amounts for the clean-up but he did give me this number
1 203 493 4670
He didn't tell me where he was calling from just that the number was Toll Free and they would be waiting for my return call. If they do call me back I will advise them that this number has been passed on to several organisations, one of which is Canadian Anti Fraud Centre and let them stew on that. If I do get any e-mails, I will definitely pass that on, as they can be identified from that.
I don't think so....

SCAMMERS!
Just got the call, claimed they were Microsoft Tech Eng and they had received information that my PC was infected. Someone was getting into my PC and sending out emails, and numerous other nastiness!
Acted dumb and concerned so he walked me through some steps.
Using the Windows logo key beside the Ctrl key and type R (opens up the run dialogue box) ...
Asked me to type in www.ammyy.com, of course said ok, but actually just did a inquiry search for that web site ... a Remote Desktop Software and Remote Desktop Connection App.
He proceeded in telling me to download and run the app ... instead I opened the step by step manual so I could continue answering his questions ...
Aware this was a con, I asked for his ID ... He responded with a strong Indian accent ... John Clinton in New York, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer ID# M0066589 - more bogus info.
Went along and stalled him, used the window shots in the step by step manual to answer more of his questions ... finally he gave me what I was hoping for ... his Client/IP to make the connection 22236556.
Told him the line was cutting out, couldn't hear him ... let him talk more without answering him with only can't hear you sorry and I hung up on him.
He tried to call me back immediately but I just let it ring.
I checked the contact info at www.ammyy.com to complain knowing that I had the Client number but unfortunately the company's address is Varshavskoe 32, Moscow, 115054, Russia.
More SCAM alert!

I got a bogus long distance call from 212-777-3010 that it is Microsoft, want to remove a certain malware threat and start with him immediately to work on my computer. The english speaking of the guy was Arabic or Indian (Tamil) accent. Anyway it was extremely suspicous, asked his name and number he said he is Metthew and the call back number is 1-203-493-4670. Evidently he was a hacker (Microsoft never calls customers this way).

I've received two phone calls from 'Microsoft technicians' who claim that my computer is being used to download info from 'Malasia' ? The accent of the person calling was so thick I couldn't understand them very well.
They gave me this phone number to call and ask for "David". They said it was a toll free number. I asked them to send me something in the 'snail mail' as the police have said not to give anybody access to your computer by a phone call and I don't have any proof that they are actually from Microsoft.

Yeah, buggers called me and 'fixed' my computer. Gave them cc info, but turned tables by locking cc. They called back asking if I was satisfied with the work they did. I told them that nothing had changed and they wanted me to go back and turn on my computer so they could show me 'how' they fixed. Yeah, right. I asked them to describe to me how I could check and they said that I couldn't possibly do what they do as I am not certified tech. LOL. However, they definitely scammed me, but I mentioned to them that I had notified local law enforcement, I am contacting Crime Stoppers in Canada, as well as Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Same thing happened to me today, said they were from Microsoft, said his name was Bradson Agent ID MS00659 said my computer sent messages to Microsoft that my OS was corrupted and they could go in to fix it. I said my husband looks after the computer and if you leave me your name he can call you back, he left the number 1-203-493-4670 said it was from New York, I asked for a toll free number and he said that is toll free, yeah right. Needless to say my husband will not be calling back.

I got a call today from a Jason Anderson claiming to be from Micorsoft technical support and saying Micorsoft was receiving error messages indicating malware was in my system files. He wanted me to access my computer so that he could show me how to fix the problems. I took down his name and number and said I woul call him back. Then I called Microsoft to confirm they in fact did call their customers. I was advised this was a scam and to not call him back - so I won't. Gave his name and tel no. to Microsoft to take note and report as required.
