First call today was from this guy with heavy accent, saying same story as above. I didn't fall for the "call this number asap 205..." it seemed too good to be true, so I googled and found all these comments.
just hope all those who got this kind of call will have the wisdom to check them out first!  It's a scam!!!

I just got this call today about the $7000 grant and the lady told me to go to a western union to sent them $320.00 and not to tell the western union clerk what i'm doing because they will charge me $50  to send money. They called from different numbers to see if i went to western union

I received a call from them claiming they are from u.s government department and that I had.some money.I dont believe this

I received a call from this number and them telling me that I qualified for a gov grant of  $7000.00 and then asked me how I wanted to receive it , bank acct, credit card or cash.  I told them cash and they told me to call MAX  WILLIAM  WITH CONFIRMATION  # and go to western union and call him when I get there and he will instruct me on the next step and that I would have to deposit  $310.00 which I will get back with the  $7000.00. I smelled a scam so I never went to the western union.   I called back and told them I wanted to put the money on my card and he said that the procedure will be the same with the transaction at the western union with my card and the  $300.00 deposit .  there was the other mistake of changing the amount that I was to deposit. He said to put in  $300.00 and when I called back he said  $310.00.    PLZ  PLEASE TAKE THESE PEOPLE DOWN BEFORE THEY REALLY HURT SOME ONE OR ANY MORE PEOPLE IF THEY ALREADY GOT AWAY WITH IT BEFORE

I got a random phone call on y cell phone  while working on July 26,2012. There was a guy telling me that he was from the U.S. Government and that he had this large amount of money for me. Here's the catch. All I had to do was send him a western union in his name and then i would recieve funds. Instantly I knew something wasn't right i called my wife and had her check on the internet.

I received the same call today. The lady who talk to me told me that i was selected to received a grant for $7000 dollars.She wanted for me to confirm my a address so i did then she told me that how i wanted to received my money. I told her by check and she told me that the only way was by a bank account. I told her that i didn't had a bank account and that if i wanted to received my money back i need it to call 205-419-8848. I call that number and i told the lady who answer that somebody call me right know she asked me with who i want to talk to i told her that the other lady told me to talk to Melissa i don't now what because the call ended when she was telling me the name. She put me on hold so I just hang up on them.

i been getting e-mail and phone call from people who say that they're from the us Government telling me that i have money coming and that i can get into trouble if i don't replied to their demand i want something done about this scam people is just to do the lady who called me from Alabama however she never told me that she was from Alabama i had to look that up myself though her phone number think god for caller id and that i had $7000.00 dollar coming from the us government how ever i did apply for a grant so i though well it's about time i my share but little to hold i was about to be scam

i just received the same call i thought that i should look into this before i give anyone my hard working money to a scam so i loked up the phone number is seen that it was from alabama the lady who called me was SHARON don't give these people your money some one need to take them down and people who put stuff in your e-mail saiding that you got 1.5 million dollar coming and the fbi has you money and you have to get a papers to get it of the FbI want a scam

I am lucky enough to have a headset and do a lot of data entry.  So I played along with this guy for about half an hour.  Just asking the stupidest questions and telling them I could hear him please repeat that or can you spell that for me for the simplest words.  He finally told me he had to go an I should call later.  I may call again tomorrow.  At least while I am keeping him busy he cant call others that may fall for it.

A lady called from the "government grant deparment" saying I have been selected to received 7,000 dollars, and gave me a telephone number to call and a confirmation number. I have to call in 30 minutes. I didn't called, of course. Totally scam

Got a call from this number said they were from US Government Grants...total scam and they are trying to get money out of us!

Had the same thing happen to me yesterday and I think someone should be stopped from doing this to all of us!!! This is so wrong and it can hurt innocent people.

I received the exact same call. It is completely a scam. They are calling from an Alabama number posing as government officials without giving any identification as to who they are and where they really work. You may also have received hangup calls from other area codes as well such as Manhattan and Washington. I reported it to the government and you should as well if you haven't already.

A woman with a thick accent called from 970-776-9659, saying she was from a U.S. government "grants department" and I had been chosen to receive $7,000. I confirmed my address knowing she had it anyway. Then I said I wanted it in cash, through the mail. She gave me another number to call to confirm all this. I called and they told me to call back in 5 minutes.  That "confirmation" phone number was 205-419-8848. I called about and asked for "Max Williams." I gave him the conf # and he told me I would have to go to Wester Union with $310 cash, call him when I got there, and then he would give me the instructions on what to do next. I smell a scam.
