Caller asked for son I said no and he hung up!

I got a call from this number at least twice a day most of the time they hung up with out a word but this last time when i answered a man called by my last name and then hung up. I tried to call back but like everyone else said a message say this number can not be reached from my special phone  this man needs to be stoped

i just got the same call. exact situation.guy said his name was chris wilson, but hung up before my wife answered. strange.

I get calls continously from this number asking for my wife. I ask if I can take a message and he hangs up.

This number called my house many times over the last year, The man would always hang up if anyone answered but my husband.  Finally my husband took the call and it was from the Police Officers Association, I overheard the conversation.

They call at all hours of the day and evening.  When answered, there is no one there, or they ask for my wife by name.  When I tell them she is not home, Theyhang up without another word.  Someone should be able to protect us from this.  Where do we go for help?

I get phone calls from this 205-572-4407 twice a day.  Everytime I answer they hang up without saying a word.  What is the deal??????  How can I stop this?  I think it has to do with me not being able to make a donation to the Police Officers Association this year.  Should I have to pay my phone company to block this call????

caller asked for wife by name but when asked "in what regards" abruptly hung up.

So can you contact your phone company to block these calls???  I have been receiving them for about 2 months now.  They always hang up when I answer.  Creepy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am also a victim of this prank calls. It first started out a few weeks ago when I answered this call and they wanted to know if I would like to donate to the Police fund. I said I wasn't interested and they hung up. Ever sence I have been getting calls every day 3 or 4 times a day from this same number and when I answer they just hang up... I will do what some of these folks are doing and file a complaint also....

Calls our house, sometimes leaves laughing on our answer machine or hangs up when we answer, or says nothing. I am blocking this number from calling my phone.

Got a call from the same freaks from the same number today and I did not answer it. Did not call back and don't think I will after reading what the others got when calling the number back. Sad...Sad ....that the freaks,the perverts and lowlifes cannot be stopped by the telephone companys that we pay .

I contacted their service provider in my above post. They asked me for my phone number and I gave it to them. They were able to find where the scammers were calling me.. Here is the response that I received.

"Good Morning,

I have been able to find the calls in our records and have notified the customer of the complaint.  I would suggest that if the calls continue that you do notify us again, and also consider filing a formal complaint at fcc.gov.

My opinion is that if you guys want to stop these rude people, email their service provider ( fraud@paetec.com ) and file a complaint and also file a formal complaint (like me) at fcc.gov

PLEASE DONT ANWSER THIS PHONE NUMBER OR 205-572-4099 ALL THE WANT IS MONEY SAYS THERE FROM THE POLICE ASSOCATION BIG SCAM. THE GUY SOUNDS REALLY MEAN AND SOMETIMES THERE WILL BE NOONE ON THE OTHER LINE. IF YOU BLOCK THESE NUMBERS THERE ARE MORE TO FOLLOW... BEEN GETTING CALLS ALOT WATCH OUT FOR 205 AREA CODES THEY COME FROM ALABAMA

Have received several calls, one as late as 9 p.m.  Let the answering machine get them until today when I picked up and they immediately hung up.  I have put a police whistle by my phone and the next time the number shows up on caller ID, I'm going to pick up the phone and the whistle and give him/her an ear full.

We have been getting these calls for the past couple of weeks.  He asks for my husband and I say he's at work.  He then states "he'll call back later" or "it's a courtesy call". It is strange.  Received the call today 10.8.08 at 4.30pm

Call came in at 7:23; no one on other line... Caller ID says Birmingham, AL... got online to look it up and found this post first thing!

I did a reverse look up of the phone number 205-572-4407 and every site states this is a Verizon Wireless customer.  I contacted Verizon and they stated that the number is not a valid registered number anywhere on the verizon network.  The only thing that I can figure is someone hijacked the number and uses it as a "gateway" to hide thier own identity.  My only suggestion is to contact your local phone provider and have the number blocked and/or contact the BBB.
