I am getting the same thing here on my business toll free number only.
Just switched from Vonage to Comcast a few months ago.
Was getting phone hackers using modem handshake audio (I guess to hack my VM system but I don't have one) Now I get the calls going to Comcast VM for up to 7 minutes of silence.
My bill is crazy so I started logging them.
I did call everyone back and got a "No Longer in Service" message.
I did call one back about 10 seconds after they left a 7 minute VM of silence and it was forward to a 310 number VM but messages were full. So I keep'd calling back with no luck. 2 minutes later got a call from the 310 number and a Spanish speaking person on the other end. No Idea what he way saying.
Called comcast and the FCC will see what happens.

This is probably a caller ID dipping fee scam but it is annoying as hell.

I have started having thoughts that my toll free provider, Kall8, is in on it.  I had a toll free number with them that started getting these silent calls last year, I got another TF number thru them and as soon as I started using it (but before any advertising in print or internet) I started getting silent calls on it.  I routed all calls on the old number to VM.  Since routing to the Kall8's VM I haven't received a single call on the old number.  For a week or two, the calls to the new number came from AL area codes (205, 334, 256, etc) but has now changed to CA, AZ and AR.  I have routed CA, AZ and AR calls to Kall8s VM.  Since sending the calls to VM, I now am getting numerous calls directly to my local office number used as the ringdown for the TF numbers.  My other 3 local numbers have never received a silent call...

Kall8 says that it is impossible to track the calls back thru the downstream providers.

I received 7 calls Tuesday.

We get calls from this number about once a week at work.  No one is on the line.  The line just stays open if you wait for someone to say something.

I seriously hope there will be someone to go after these people calling us for no reasons. my call reject is full and here is the list.

Same deal with me. Local & Toll Free forwarded to my cell. I'm in the business of phone systems. One of the changes with current phone systems using VoIP is that you can send any number you program into your system. It doesn't have to be a valid number or it can be someone else's if you choose. Nothing we can do about it.

I've looked into blocking all calls on a scheduled basis on my Verizon cell while allowing my favorites to come through, but only the Iphone has the do not disturb feature and I do not want an Iphone. Galaxy 4s has it with Sprint, but Verizon disabled the feature because they want you to spend another $5 to use the feature. A***ipes!

Got a call at 3:56am from 205-703-2872. When I called it this morning the message said I had to register my number with E Harmony secure call service. What the hell???

I have a 1-800 for my business that forwards to my phone (I screen and only answer for existing clients). For a few weeks now I have been receiving several calls a day, and throughout the night, from many different numbers including this one.

They leave a blank 1 second voicemail on my 1-800 service.

Each time it happens it eats up 3 of my allowed/included minutes on the service. So far it isn't putting me over the limit but the frequency of the calls appears to be increasing and I may start getting charged each time I get 1 of these calls.

No one ever talks and when you dial back most are disconnected

Exact same thing is happening to me. Out of state calls 2-8 times per day for the last 2 weeks. They even call at 3 and 4 am! No one is ever on the line.

Received call on new iPhone. No one answered. Have several calls in a day from different numbers but no one answers
