says call is from Public Safety.  You can not add this number to a call block...  815-6030

I got a call from this number tonight but told them that I wasn't at home (LOL). After reading your posts, I remember them calling last year asking for a donation. I didn't think of it as a scam and told them I would. They sent me a packet of information about the sheriff's association as well as a decal for my car. Not sure if it's scam but they do send what they say they will.

I called Birmingham fbi office no help at all who ever this is the law is letting him get away with it....

caller called and said he was calling from sherriff's department to solicit donations to help find missing children.  so i decided to play along to see how far he would go.  once he confirmed my willingness to support, he explained different levels of donations, gold being the highest, and silver being the lowest ($25). i told him i would pledge the silver gift.  he asked what was my first name and asked me to spell it.  he then asked if i was still in the same city which was previously listed.  after going through that, he said that the mailroom manager was going to confirm my mailing address with me, so a lady gets on the phone and asks me for my address.  i began to joke with her, saying if they were "confirming" my mailing address, then they should have the same address on their record, since i haven't moved recently.  she seemed to become aggitated, then asked me if i wanted to contribute.  i told her yes, then she asked for my address again.  after she saw i wasn't giving it up, she abruptly ended the call.  i tried to call back, but the line gave a fast busy signal.  definitely has to be a scam!

recieved call on my answering machine....no one spoke but could hear lots of background noise like perhaps the call was coming from a call center.

Call came today, second time, hung up when I answered

The caller called, asked for my wife by name, asked what he needed her for, he hung up, called back, phone always busy, fast busy signal

They call me all the time......not just at my own house, but they caught me at my mother's house which I found to be very odd...one time, they hung up on me and the other time a girl (who sounded about 12) told me she was from the Sherrifs office and had I been staying out of trouble???? Then she said they were about to send out decals that said support our sherrifs and could they count on me for a donation....I said no and she hung up...they have called my house three more times, however I haven't been home to take the call....I can't call back, I just get that fast busy signal.  I called the sherrifs dept. in Jefferson County and the man I spoke with said this is NOT how they raise money and he thinks it is scam...he got the number and tried to call, but I haven't heard back from him yet....this is ridiculous, but I feel better knowing I'm not the only one getting these calls.

read on another site it was someone asking for donations
to help injured police officers aka alabama sheriffs
or something like that.
My police relatives and friends say its a Scam,
police do not call asking for donations like this.

Unknown caller.  Would like to know who it is and/or company name

I received a call from this number and tried calling it back with and without the area code.  Without the area code all I get is a fast busy signal or a message that my call cannot go through.  Comes up unavailable.

I tried to call back---got a fast busy signal---It says on info space it is a landline in Birmingham--residental--I think it should be reported to someone.

No one on the other end when you answer. When you call the number back it's ALWAYS busy

They called and then hung up.  I hate it when they do that.  They are always interupting something.  Why can't they just say "sorry, wrong number."  Too bad I am now retired or I would find out who they are.

Call received 1/25/2010.  My daughter answered the phone. She said it was someone named Mike.  When I got the phone the person had hung up and you cannot dial the number back.

This number 205-815-6030 has call two times but I have a son in-law that is a sheriff and I'll be more then glad to let him look in to it.

He told me? The Sheriffs Department would never ask for donate be careful it could be a scam.

Record if you can and call the sheriffs department.

The caller has called several times. Once I answered and they hung up. The next time I wasn't home so they left a message in which they commented about our recording and then hung up without even leaving a name.

This number calls my house everyday but when we answer they hang up. It was happening to me and now it is happening to my sister and husband. Today when I called the number back it said the number was no longer in service. It just called me so it is in service.

They keep calling even after being told to stop.
I don't know why,since they will never get anything here.

According to Whitepages.com reverse-lookup, is a landline based somewhere near 7th Ave N and 19th Street North in Birmingham, AL. Of course, that may simply be the location of the originating Central Office, but that does narrow it down considerably.

I believe it may be the "Alabama Sheriffs' Association", but as I didn't get an opp to actually answer, cannot confirm.

This number is for a non-profit collecting money.  It is in fact a valid non-profit.  I hate the fact that some of you were treated bad.  When you commit money to them, they will send you a donation envelop.

That same number called my house earlier and asked for my wife by her first name and when I said she wasn't home they just hung up.  Unfortunately the 815-6030 number is probably not their number so there is nothing the telephone company can do.  There are services such as www.spoofcard.com where you can hide your caller id and display any number you want and even disguise your voice.  We just have to hope losers like that will get a life.
