It spells out unknown. It is any "unknown" number so..could be anyone. More times than not it is a scam..

If you spell it out on the telephone it spells "unknown". That is so creepy weird.

865-6696 called some place called Reader  services with a promotional bs.

I've gotten calls from 865-6696 every day for about 3 months, this is terribly annoying and the calls come in at all hours of the day and night. I re-entered my cell number on the National Do Not Call registry about 30 days ago, but the calls just keep coming in.

I too just got an Iphone 4s and have only had it about a month and these calls have started.  I live near the orlando FL area as well.  I will call sprint

I'm on AT&T and have an iPhone4 and just started receiving these calls. So I don't think it's a sprint thing, but an iPhone thing...creeps me out though.

Got a call from 865-6696 left voicemail claiming to be Morgan with County Clerks Office, strange to me she didnt verify which county and left an 800 number (work for law firm) and no county clerks office has 800 number, then had a bogus case number.

Yes SMunoz, same exact thing for me too, I got this guy with HEAVY accent say I have a loan in collections and they want me to pay $100 a month and that I owed something like $1100.00 and this number would call me about 4-5 times a day even on Sundays and one time I just got pissed off and answered it. The number was 865-6696, with no area code. So I tried to block the number and CAN NOT cause it has to be a 10 digit number and of course there is NO area code. This is so frustrating cause the calls will not stop. Guy also told me that they are going to get a local lawyer to sue me if I do not agree to pay this $100 a month, so my answer was "go get a lawyer, but PLEASE stop calling me". Which we could find out the REAL area code for these idiots. I live in Southwestern GA. So I am not sure what to do to get these people to quit calling. If anyone has Ideas please please share...

They don't answer right away to identify themselves. They start calling at 8am and don't quit until 10pm.  Is there any way you can block this number on an iPhone??

I just got a call from this # for the 1st time. Also with Sprint & got the 4s 64gb iPhone about 2 months ago.

This just occurred to me....my mother just called me from her home phone and always uses the "*67" to show me that it is her...I know it was her because I just talked to her.  So this is what I figure the "865-6696" is the iPhone or Sprint's way of "naming" the unknown, starred 67, number.  So, if you want to answer "unknown" calls, answer them, otherwise, allow them to leave a message.....I, too have had Sprint for over 15 years and this has never occurred.  It could just be an iPhone thing.....hope this helps...I know it's unnerving!!!!!

I just recently switched to sprint and bought a iPhone 4....I am now getting the same calls from this # without an area code. My husband picked up my phone and offered to take a message but they said they will call back and hung. I'm in area code 904. This # comes in without an area code. My husband has not received an calls on his iPhone yet... Hmmm

I keep getting them to its a scam they said I qualified for a loan for 5 grand I just hung up I thought it was lagit cause I did apply for a loan but I just missed there call again so they didn't leave a message or any thing

I too have an iPhone 4s, also with Sprint. When I answered that number, it was my wife on her cell phone. Apparently it's an error in the caller ID or something.

it's a scam...i answered and it was some guy with a heavy accent telling me the call was being monitored. when i asked what it was pertaining to they indicated i owed a loan that was in collection. when i asked what company they were with they wouldn't disclose the info. asked that they stop calling me and i blocked the # from calling. not sure if the block will take since i'm not sure what the area code is. calls come in without area code.

For some reason the iPhone on Sprint is not able to say unknown number.  So instead it uses 865-6696 for unknown number.  So anytime you see the number 865-6696 it was same number that called you before your iPhone that showed up as unknown number.

I live in VA and started receiving this strange call from 865-6696 as soon as I switched to Sprint from TMO and bought the iPhone4s. I'm perplexed as to who it is and how they received new my number. It must be affiliated with activating a Sprint phone in some way or an iPhone.

I have an iPhone 4 with Sprint and I just started receiving these calls a couple days ago. I have been reading you guys' posts on here and we pretty much ALL have the same things in common: All with Sprint  AND ALL have either iPhones 4 or 4s'. The only difference is I see is that instead the first time i got a call from this number it was actually my older brother calling which was REALLY weird because his number is programmed in my phone so every other time he calls it shows up with his name and number (area code first). However, this time it was him but from this weird a** number. Ever since then, I've been getting calls from this number non-STOP! When I do pick it up they just either hang up or its dead air and then hangs up. VERY annoying! I opened up a case with Sprint tech support and they had NO solutions for this issue other than to do a master reset (which would just erase all media in my phone not backed up to icloud) or change my number! Not cool at all.

Yup me too! I got Sprint iPhone4S and this # calls all the time.  bad thing is my # is a West Coast number & now i live on the East Coast but don't want to change # because I've had it for over 10 years needless to say this # calls at annoying times because I AM 3 HOURS AHEAD OF WEST COAST!

Same with  me, started getting them when I got my iPhone. SO ANNOYING. One time I picked up by accident (thought it was someone else calling me back and didn't look) and they said it was the Democratic National Blah Blah Blah. But now that I see it spells out U-N-K-N-O-W-N I could be any number of different callers. How bizarre.

My old phone (which I hated) did have one good feature. I could program it to send specific numbers directly to voicemail without ringing. I just made an entry for every number that called like that and I never had to deal with it again. I wish iPhones had that feature.

I just got a call from this same number, no area code. I've had the same number and sprint for 10 + years. I jut switched from Bb to iPhone 4, I didn't answer. I'm in Illinois. Who the hell is it!?

More info:  My phone software is supposed to send calls straight to a recording after hours, but this number is ringing through somehow.  Also, I blocked the number in my software, but it still manages to get through a few times before the software stops it.  BTW, I tried calling my 800 number from a land line using *67, and the call went straight to the after hours recording, as it's supposed to, and my call appears in the Call Log.  Interestingly, calls from the 865 number don't appear in my phone software's Call Log, but they do appear under "Recent Calls".  It's got to be some seriously powerful software.  Smarter than the FBI.  Sneakier than the CIA.  It must be Google.

I've started getting calls from 205-865-6696 to my 800 number.  (I'm in the 205 area code, too.)  It's definitely a machine, though.  I have multiple lines, and several calls come in from that number exactly two seconds apart.  (The first time, they were one second apart.  Subsequently, two seconds.)  I don't have an iphone and I don't use Sprint.
