I have also received an email from this B%^#. I think we all need to get together and send this one to the FBI.

She or it gave us a tracking number which the package was stopped in Texas and never received it then she persisted on us giving her our bank number so we gave her a fake one and then she wanted more information like social, mothers median name, so on so fourth. We told her she is full of crap and it is a scam so she said no no no its not I swear. And now she is resending it as she said "a real" tracking number this time. If it was a check, or money being transferred all you need is the routing number and nothing else, she wants more. I don't f****ng think so.

Does anyone know what the scam actually is?

If they're sending real cheques from a North American Bank then the money is already in the North American Economy.
If the cheques being sent are duds then there's no money being moved in the economy and into circulation...

I can't figure out what the scam's purpose is and what they're trying to achieve.

If the money was actually supposed to pay for a service/product at an over-inflated rate (ie, the Vehicle Rental Company connected to the "Driver" Job Listing) then you could assume that the Rental Company was a connected business setup to get money into the local economy as part of a Money Laundering network/link etc....

I just can't figure it out - Anyone have some ideas?

Avoid any cheques and if you get one take it to your bank and explain that it's not good or contact the investigator/police listed in one of the responses near the top of this page!

Oh it's a hoax. While I was in correspondense with her today, I noticed that the e-mail address changed 3 times, and the company name changed twice in the Yahoo signatures and headers.

She(?) is on the lam from the FBI and the National White Collar Crime something or other....anyway she uses multiple addresses and e-mails. But she apparently hasn't made enough money yet for the FBI to actually go out and grab her. I think they're just waiting until she has more.

I have obsolete 1990 skip tracing training and I found her out. so I tell her in Yahoo Messenger:

I have gotten e-mails from this same person as well. I have been instant messaging back and forth with this william walk guy who works for m.s. payroll supposedly. It is definately a scam i wasnt so sure at first but now that I have took the time to google it i googled the company name and address and this is thew only site i came up with. And not only that but when i asked for a website he told me that it is currently uder construction... I am pretty pissed about this but what can you do. I work for the Pendleton Police Department in Pendleton Oregon. I was contacted today by a person who reported receiving a check in the mail after having researched jobs online.  This check was mailed from M S Payroll Services in Kent Wahington 98032.  The check was written on the account name of Rennert New York and used the JP Morgan Chase Bank.  The check was made out for $2,348.92.  Thsi is a scam/phishing.  There is no such business.  If you receive a check like this you should contact www.ic3.gov for federal fraud investigations.  The local police departmetns usually are not able to provide much assistance with these matters as it usually involves international scam organizations.  Hope this helps everyone.
