I received this call and and it was a lady saying she was from directv.  She said because I was a loyal customer, they wanted to offer me free HD extra and cinemax for 3 months.  I said ok because I'll just cancel it in 3 months.  However, it's been 2 days and I still don't have the extra channels.  I am worried that this really wasn't directv.

Directv "offering" me free Cinemax and 9 additional HD channels.  When I told them No thanks, the guy seemed all annoyed- "but it's Free channels,"  I just continued to say no, then hang up.  When I call back and try to select 3 placed on hold w/ the most annoying hold music, (more like a "thank you for calling directv" chant).  Finally someone answered, hopefully they won't call back.

I have received 3 or 4 calls from these people at various times of the day. They have never left a message.

If it is indeed Direct TV they need to either quit calling me or risk losing my business!! I don't tolerate unsolicited calls!

they call cell phone according to this site which I love it is direct tv calling and just trying to sell us more so we can pay more. I wish they would stop/

Just got the call & because I didn't recognize the number did not answer it.  I really appreciate this site, because I can check numbers out.  Thanks to everyone who posted.  Now that I know it is a solicitation I will not answer any calls.

They called today and left a 10 second message with nothing but background noise. Losers.

I answer the phone and I get nothing, I hold on, eventually the phone hangs. up  I have gotten 2 calls so far.

I answered and they said they were affiliated with a publishing company and wanted to see if I renew my magazine subscription.  It was weird.  They knew the last 4 of my credit card number, name, address and where I work but they asked for my birthday and to take a recorded survey to cancel the subscription.  I hung up on them.  They've called back about 10 times in the past 2 weeks never leaving a message.

DirecTV is trying to get you to add HDTV or other services for free because you are "such a good customer." The free period is temporary and you can cancel any time before you get charged in three months...or whatever period.

Basically, it's the official DirecTV sales department trying to get you to add service.

Never leaves voicemail. If I answer it just hangs up after 30 seconds. No one ever speaks. Calls almost every day and starting to aggravate me.

Seems to be a third party contracted by DirecTV to schedule appointments. I should point out that if you call back, option 3 is to be placed on their do not call list.

I've been calls anywhere from once every other day to twice a day. I never answer because I do not pick up numbers that I do not recognize that are not from my local area. Always leaves a voicemail, but the voicemail is blank every time I listen to it. If they aren't going to leave a message, it's not worth it to me to try to call back to find out what they wanted. But it is getting annoying to keep having these calls...

I've been getting calls from this number like everyday...tired calling it back but nothing?

I canceled direct tv about 3 weeks ago.  This phone number has called me about 5 times this evening alone.  I called them back and they want 7-10 days for the do-not-call listing, she also stated that direct tv has business with me.  I argued that point - I wish they would just leave me alone.

213-289-5504- the automated message says "thank you for calling power direct." I don't know if they are apart of DirecTv or not but if they call again, they will be getting a piece of my mind. From all of the posts, it definitely seems like a scam. Definitely do NOT need any new channels either

213-289-5504. Claims DirecTV. LA based number. Tried to offer me HD and upgrades, but I already have HD for life and the highest package. This is a phishing scam! I called DirecTV and verified that no one from the company made any offers to my package.

I just started getting calls from this number and it is DIRECT TV. I do no answer and they always leaves a message welcoming me and telling me about some feature to check out. A little annoying but harmless! I like DIRECT so well that I am not going to complain.

Just got a call...said DirecTV...woman left a message asking someone there for a lighter and then asked for a cigarette.  Lasted about 10 seconds.

Same annoying issue here. Have been getting seemingly daily calls from 213-289-5504 for at least 2 weeks, probably more. Caller ID says DIRECTV. Just got their service a few months back (November 2010), never had spam calls from this number before. Never anyone on the line when I answer. Called DirecTV customer service to report it and see if they could have me removed from any call lists, they took my info and said they are investigating. We'll see...
