It's a FREAKING SCAM...It's called phishing. They ask for credit card information over the phone to "pay" your bill.  Never make a payment useless you are the one calling the company.

I got a call twice yesterday. The first time I didnt answer cuz I was taking a test. The second time they left a message saying that I needed to check my account. I think that someone is trying to scare me into something. But I went to a couple of other sites and they said it was just a scame to get into your credit cards, and bank accounts. Im very worried.

Received several phone calls from this number but never answered.  I never answer unknown or blocked numbers.  I googled the area code and it said seattle washington ... do not know anybody in seattle. So I decided to google the entire number and I found this site. I called Sprint and told them about this number and the rep told me if Sprint needs to contact me they will text me.

Calls are coming in at least once a day (for awhile now, and just as I'm typing this I am getting an "unknown" call on my blackberry!) from 206.315.1403.  It's interfering with my work, as the blackberry is my company's equipment, and I have to leave the ringer on as I'm on call 24/7.  What can be done about this...can't the phone company take away a phone number so it can't call people like this?

I keep getting these calls from 206.315.1403 on my blackberry (which is owned by the company I work for)...and they never say anything when I say hello, nor do they leave voicemail messages when I don't answer.  It's at least once a day...what can be done about this?!  It's annoying AND it's interfering with my work...!  UGH!  Sorry, just very frustrated.  Thanks all!

I just want to thank you for posting this.  I got two of these calls this morning, i just ignored them, but it was suspicious so i checked out the number online.  This post was the first listing and answered my question quick.  Is there anything we can do to disable this number?  Its based out of the US in seattle to be exact, so we should be able to shut them down, right?

So here's the scoop:

Apparently SPRINT says "We can't do call blocking" - because that's a high tech feature which has been around since the 1970s, so its beyond their itsy bitsy brain capacity.  Seriously, it seems they are saying that it is technically impossible for them.

But hey!  What if you are a BUSINESS CUSTOMER?  Well ... you can block.  You pay more money.  Therefore, it becomes more technically possible for them to help you.

I smell a class action lawsuit.  Sprint refuses to stop calls which report to be from Sprint.  Sprint is aware of the problem.  Sprint has it in their power to stop them, but doesn't.

In the law, this is called implied agency.  The people running the scam are treated by the court as if they are authorized agents of Sprint.  After all, by not stopping them (when they easily could), and by the fact that they're USING Sprint's network for their scam ... Sprint really *had* authorized them, haven't they?  Sprint becomes liable for their actions.

It means that the company allowing another to use their name (Sprint) is liable for all the damages caused by their agent (the fraudulent person(s) scamming CC numbers).

Sprint HOME customer?  Oh, it is technologically impossible to do that!

Sprint BUSINESS customer?  Oh we can do that!  No problem!

THIS IS STILL GOING ON!

Its December now.  That's been 6 months, and it is still going on.

I expect that the people doing this scam should be getting a**-raped in prison by now!  What's taking so long with all of this?

There's no such thing as an "untraceable" call.  Believe me.  I worked for a teleco for several years.

If these calls were going to " 'Dubya"'s phone in DC, there'd be a hundred FBI guys swarming in on these dorks in about 20 minutes time.

Oh, they can track it.  They're just being lazy a***s.

This is SPRINT's customer base being scammed.  They are using SPRINT's name.  Obviously, Sprint just doesn't give a damn.  Or maybe (golly!) SPRINT doesn't have the kind of technology they need to trace a call.  I thought they were a phone company.  Maybe they're just a fast food chain or something else - disguised as a phone company.

I received this phone call too. We actually have a payment due today to Sprint that may not get there in time. I don't normally answer #s I don't know, and I live in NY and saw it was a WA # and know it's way early there. I normally research #s I don't know. Glad I didn't answer it. Doesn't seem to be a point to call Sprint about it, unless it keeps happening.

I have been receiving these calls for the last 3 days.  I called Sprint customer service through my cell phone.  All of these calls are coming to my home phone number.  Sprint insists that they make there contacts ONLY through your cellular phone, not home phones.  This appears to be a scam and the customer service representative advised NOT to enter your checking or credit card unless you make the contact with sprint customer service directly

I got a call from this nubmer 3 times today. The first 2 times I didnt answer. The 3rd time I answered and listened to it. I told my husband and we thought it was a scam. I got home and looked up my Sprint Bill online and my bill isnt due for another 3 days, plus I am not about the spending limit of $150 that Sprint has. I googled the number and found this site among many others about this number being a scam. This is not the first time I have been scammed. My Sprint cell number was cloned and used to make over $800 worth of calls to the Dominican Republic. Pay very close attention to your statements and if you suspect something just isnt right then call Sprint first.

Call received from 206-315-1403 saying it was Sprint (we don't even have Sprint service). Said we had account changes and verify a name given by 1 for yes or 2 if not your name. I pressed nothing and call dropped after about 5 seconds. SCAM of course. Good rule to give nothing about yourself unless you initiate, even if you initiate, be careful.

Received a call from this number at noon today, identified as Washington.  No voice mail left.  Did a reverse lookup at Anywho.com and came up blank.  Googled it and found this page.

Immediately called my wife, who also has a Sprint phone, and told her to expect this and never give out credit card info to anyone who calls her, regardless of how legit it sounds.   Hang up and call Sprint for a billing inquiry.

Thanks for sharing, everybody!

5 Calls today, starting at 11am. No one on other end after 4 rings. I see the CID listing as Seattle Washington. 206-315-1403.

Sprint owes me a $158.81 credit, and as of 5 customer service agents verifying it when I called them, and the finance department verifying it, I had to record the last call and will be taking it to legal if needed...

They either need to get their billing correct, or deal with a class action as so many have similar complaints about over billing and charges. Sprint~Too large for words!!!!!

I am really glad that I found this on the yahoo website!  I recieved four calls today, one this morning starting at 1046am. Then one at 1147,  652pm and 732pm.  The last one said it was from Washington.  Just got this phone in September.  I hope this isn't going to go on all the time.  ONe of the reasons I got this phone was to stop the telemarketing or phishing or whatever.  Guess I have to return the phone to accept only the phone  numbers that I have in my phone book.  Hopefully SPRINT is reading this.  And I agree with everyone else, if you don't know the number, don't answer...even on your home phone.

I got a call from this number twice this morning. Didn't recognize so didn't answer. Sounds like a good thing I didn't. My wife payed the bill and signed up for unlimited text & roaming JUST A FEW HOURS PRIOR. Coincidence? It seems more than a few people are reporting that their bills were paid or due within a day or 2 of this number showing up. Strange too that they didn't leave a message. How many businesses looking to collect wouldn't say so just because there's no answer?

I love googling unknown numbers:)  Strange this is that my Sprint bill actually IS due right now.  Actually I'm a couple days late already.  I will desregard these phone calls though (as they have been calling my cell and at WORK) and pay in person.  Thanks for all the help!

Got a call from that number today; I didn't answer, as the number was not in my book.

I'm just planning to ignore this, unless they call back.

Great site!

I just got called (Sept 28 07)and it did sound legit, they said their had been a change to my account please enter my zipcode or press for an operator. As I am generally paranoid about giving out any info - I pushed the key for an operator, heard some bland hold music then spoke to someone to whom I explained I don't give out information to people who call me.
They apologized, said it was for my own protection if I could just give them my password... I told them to text me about it if there was a problem.
Then I called Sprint and talked to someone in India who looked up the number and verified it was a Sprint number. He also verified that there was no problem or change with my account. He suggested I call the police to report this number.

Thanks for all the info... I just received a call from this number Caller ID said it was from Washintion, and I didn't recognize it. After the second call I googled the number and it brought me here. Thank God! I'm trying to get ahold of Sprint I've been on hold for 15 mins so far. They should do something about this stuff! If my elderly grandmother got this call she would pay it thinking her phone was going to get turned off. They are all so trusting. This is just plain wrong, if Sprint won't do something about it.

We have received telephone calls from this number, but did not answer it. Being a wary consumer when it comes to automated services, or service reps at all, we have decided that it should be ignored. Sprint has always contacted us via text messages if there was a concern with out account, and even if they were to call...the automated message leaves a recorded message. My husband had his credit card info stolen from a service rep at Comcast a month ago, so we are hesitant to pay our bills over the telephone at all! You are all right to be wary of something like this! Just another way to keep us on our toes!!
