I was running an ad on craigslist for an item for sale at 550.00. I was contacted through texts by an individual saying they were a woman in the military and were busy. They then went on to tell me they deposited 1150.00 into my paypal account and I need to take 500.00 out of my pocket as they called it, and western union it to them!! I said they were crazy, I don't pay someone to sell THEM an item.. They are harassing me constantly. I received 30 texts yesterday. They sent me "official" looking paypal emails. The phone number they used was 774-549-2210 and using the name Joseph Tedd Baker 28 Freeman  St. Suthbend Indiana 46619... A dead giveaway when you cant spell the name of the city you are supposedly moving to!!

i just got the same basic email... in regards to a craigslist posting of mine. the, tiffany trach bit. they texted my cell with an email.. the number was 469 563 2464..

Same scam attempt, trying to get me to send money to this Teresa Sass Gleave in NC via Western Union for a release on a paypal transfer for an item posted on Kijiji. Using the name Adam Scott (adamscottis@hotmail.com). He called me, as my number was on the Kijiji ad, very pushy. East Indian accent. All the emails from him and from the fraudulent PayPal account were off enough in grammar and sentence structure to be suspicious, as well as things like telling me not to call as they would have no record, only replying to that email address would work. So, naturally, I called PayPal and explained the situation and they confirmed it to be a scam. They do not use third party money transfers, as the whole point of PayPal is a safe transfer of money directly between individuals.

Unfortunately when he called, the number is blocked. But I imagine the police would have ways around that. Esp if as reported in above statements that is is wanted by the FBI.

I posted a bike on Kijiji and this Adam Scott working overseas wanted to have it and said someone will pick it up for him. Once he asked me to send the money to this Teresa, i was a bit skeptic, since the address i was supposed to send the Western union to was a bit weird.   Googled her name and found these post.

Yes I just had a woman named Theresa Gleaves in North Carolina trying to scam me off of a craigslist I placed. She wanted me to give her my paypal account and tried to buy a guitar from me and said she would send some company to pick it up..blah blah blah..be careful! I found this post on internet and proved I was right ..don't fall for it.

That is so crazy that I am reading  this right now. As I type this, I am conversing with this individual at this very moment. Number has defi iteky changed nd now they are supposedly a luietenant in washington d.c.  they tried to get my husband nd I to send $850 thru western union to that theresa sass gleave individual in north carokina. I am not beat. I knew it was a scam the minute they asked for out of pocket fro. Funny how after reading thru the other comments I quickly noticed similarities in the emails nd the way things were phrased nd said. Be carefuk cause this scumbag is still trying to get money out of us after we already blew up their spot on being a scam nd told them we would report this to the authorities. They are also using the name tiffany trach.

Here is how the "PayPal Scam" works:

Says they will buy the item and will pay extra to cover charges by his shipping agent.
Says he will PayPal the funds and instruct you to send the extra money via wire transfer or pre-paid card to the agent.
He then sends you a fake PayPal deposit notice email, spoofing the official PayPal notice, that says the money has been put into your account.
You, thinking PayPal has your money, go ahead with the wire/prepaid transfer to the shipping agent, who is really the scammer.
After that, you then find out there was no money transferred to PayPal and are out the money your wired.


Here is how a "Craigslist Scam" or any other "I will send you a check for more than you asked" scam works:

He pays for the item + extra funds to cover his shipping agent costs with a bank draft or cashiers check.
He sends you a check, tells you to cash it and send the extra money to his shipping agent via wire transfer or prepaid card.
You cash/deposit check and wire/prepaid the funds to the agent.
Later, the check bounces as it was counterfeit. The money you sent to the agent, who is really the scammer, is unrecoverable due to it being wire transferred/prepaid card.
You are out money and now run the risk of being arrested for passing a counterfeit check.

I have had the same guy do this to me when I was selling my horse. he has tried to contact me through using various phone numbers and names. he wanted me to send money to his shipper in north Carolina, first it was awoman who lived in ohio named mary dumas. his name is mike bowen aka sergeant mike he also uses several email addresses that I know of. mikebowen1001@yahoo.com ,then his paypal service is teamservice@mail2help.com and the other is teamservice@mail2world .com. needless to say the FBI is looking at him so if he contacts you again report it to them he lives in Addison,tx . I have looked him up and my uncle has looked him up. he is still currently trying to scam me by using different names,he does have a female accomplice her name is Alisa Kelley. he also uses Jakayla Bohannon as a shipper name too.

Teresa Gleave just tried to scam my son.  This time they are posing as Cheyenne Mtn AF personnel.  Thank God for this site!  I just read her name & told my son, don't do it, it a scam.

Just tried to scam me offer to buy bedroom set googled him he is all over the place. Why is he not getting caught..sting op for him when he picks up cash

Ed Kester also goes by the name Mary Kester it seems.  This person or persons' is posting ads for Cars or horse trailers etc.  They are trying to get you to use google checkout as well.   From what I can tell, they are using the "too good to be true" scam. As in trying to sell something that should be priced around $20,000 and selling it for $4000.   And the vehicle or property is located at a shipping company because this Mary Kester is now a dealer on a casino ship.  Which conveniently doesn't allow her to use the phone.  Only email contact.

I received this same email for a piano I was selling on Craigslist.  However, I was able to wise up and did not take any money to Western Union.  I am so glad that I went with my gut.  Since I replied and told them I in no way was going to send any of my own money I have not heard anything else from them.

Don't believe this person.  He tried to get us to pay a shipper's fees out of our own pocket, then he'd release the funds he'd allegedly put in our Paypal account.  Kept insisting we had to send money to a woman in North Carolina, then give Paypal the Western Union info and Paypal would pay us.  WRONG!!  We got emails claiming to be from Paypal that were from an email address of "pp1525online@consultant.com", which is definitely not a Paypal address.  I called Elmendorf AFB and they never heard of him.  I called Paypal and told them what was going and they said it was a scam.  But the guy didn't give up - he kept emailing me telling me that I didn't understand - that I send my own money through Western Union to his "shipper" (Teresa Gleave) in North Carolina, then I could show Paypal that I had shipped the money out of my own pocked, and Paypal would release the funds.  One of the two emails he sent was for a restriction on the funds he'd supposedly put in Paypal.  One of his initial emails to me was exactly - word for word - the same as an email he sent on November 11, 2011 to Joco (see below).   DO NOT TRUST THIS GUY OR DEAL WITH HIM!  HE SMACKS OF A BIG TIME SCAM!!
