repeated calls on caller I.D.

I too emailed and left my number re: a "beautiful NYC 3br apt".
Got email and a very strange call, too much static to hear anything but "Wire money" from supposed "Ernest C. Anderson".
Then when I said I had a friend who would go and see the apt first (I'm in CA)... he hung up. Just reeks of scam.

This is entirely a SCAM.  BEWARE.  I hate to admit that I fell for it - however a different, new, twist:

The person is now "Bjorn Bob Bagn" and resides at "3 Water St, Brooklyn, NY  11201".  Instead of requesting payment via Western Union, payment is requested via PayPal.  I felt "secure" because it was via PayPal instead of Western Union - this is not true.  Shortly after payment, "Bjorn Bob Bagn" requested additional money via Western Union to confirm to an account in the UK.  

Bjorn Bob Bagn has setup fake phone numbers of "860-482-0308" and "917-595-3118".  Bjorn Bob Bagn also appears to use the aliases "Mark Cooper" from the UK and "Kaycee Rayhab" (the PayPal account holder).  Bjorn Bob's email is bagnb@yahoo.com and mathsbaba@yahoo.com

The fake vacation rental property was "227 E 56th St, New York, NY 10022" and Bjorn Bob claimed to reside at "3 Water St, Brooklyn, NY  11201"

This number apparently now belongs to a reputable construction company. I spoke with them after they left a couple messages.

Because I wanted transfer money through my bank account they made lots of problem!
I checked through the google map the flat, and it is located at a School address! Then I tried to call the number they provided (Phone +19 17210 1225), doesn't exist at all!!!!

I didn't realize it was a scam until I got two replies from the references supplied within 3 minutes of each other.

This makes me sick to my stomach...I almost got suckered into this 'good deal,' until I looked up the names and numbers.  Thanks!

Got the same thing this week-end under a different name.  Sure sounds like a scam.  They wanted me to transfer money to a 3rd party in London, England.  When I looked up the address, it was a holiday inn in London.

I was looking for a vacation rental on craigslist and got a reply from this Ernest character. The apartment looks way too good to be true for $100. This is the information he supplied at the end of the mail:

Found two luxurious apartments on Craigslist both were scams.  Person is now using two alias with  current names of Huritz Seymour Alan and Daniel Deguzman. Both give untraceable Seattle phone numbers and want a large upfront deposit. Avoid at all costs.

I was about to send money for a rental in NY, fortunately a friend go there and found out there is not such a place..

Glad I found this site - same story ... was looking for a rental in NYC using craigslist but the person's name given with the number is ernest c anderson with an email address of aernerst@ymail.com.  I searched the address using USPS.com and the postal service did not recognize the "fake" address.

My family and I were going to rent an apartment from this number. We saw the ad on Craigslist. The contact number was the same (206-339-5035), but the name was Harris Edwin. When he said to send him money via MoneyGram, I knew it was a fraud.

We have received 2 emails with 2 different names on them with this same phone number on it in response for a request for apartments in New York.  We are from New Zealand so don't want to part with any money if they are not legitimate.  Have you found out any more if it is a scam?

I did not receive a phone call, however, I was given this number by an individual i found on craigslist to rent an apartment from in New York for the summer.  Found it strange that I was given a Seattle Washington number for an apartment in New York.
