I'm in Texas and received the same exact email, first from "Henry Cooper" posing as Jennifer, then the 2nd email from "Jennifer Thompson" and it reads verbatim what the above email states about the disability and certified check and movers aka a load of b.s.  I'm thinking about replying with "Oh that sounds great!  My name is "Insert Fake Name" and my address is "Insert Local Police Department."  If everyone did so this scam would be over real quick!

I got one from the infamous Jennifer Thompson. I feel so bad that she is deaf, no so bad that she is dumb :)

The original email came from Garcia Jenny <garcjengarcc@gmail.com>

After I replied, the email was from Jennifer Thompson <jenniferthompsonx@gmail.com>

Had I not used one of my regular email addresses, I would have messed with her big time.  I am going to change my CL email to my yahoo addy so I can enjoy f*ing with these scammers in the future.

I think this email henryiscooper16@gmail.com is also associated with this email thompson1jennifer@gmail.com. I got a response from craigslist about and item I was selling from henryiscooper16@gmail.com and when I responded I got a message back from thompson1jennifer@gmail.com with an email I have already seen on the web:

Hello,

This is Jennifer, Thanks for getting back to me I want to buy this but the only way i can pay you is via a Bank Certified Check that i will mail to you using FedEx overnight delivery

To make sure that everything goes smoothly i would wait for the check to clear before the pickup is done, I would be responsible for the pickup and it will be done by the movers and their payment will be included in the check i mail to you and this is all due to my disability (am deaf) and it makes it hard for me deal with this and it makes the transaction better and quicker.

I know you were not expecting this and I would have loved to come for the viewing but i cant I really want it and am offering an extra $50 for you to delete the posting to show i want it as i am just settling into my new house i want good deals to furnish the apartment i stay in.

if you are okay with this please send me extra pictures and get back to me with the following

Your Full name
Your Physical address (as FedEx does not deliver to P.o.boxes)

I await your response . thank you and stay blessed

Oh, Jennifer contacted me too.  She was initially Jennifer Garcia.  Then she changed to Jennifer Thompson.  She also sent me a check for over 3000 dollars.  I was asking just over 200 for the item I was selling.

The check was from a large company that had a branch in Houston.  But this is where Jennifer and Jacob, her assumed "husband," messed up.  I contacted the company to talk with Jacob, who signed the check.  It turns out no Jacob or Jennifer Thompson worked there.  I finally talked to the treasurer of the company who told me that they do not deal with the bank whose name appeared on the check.  He told me to just rip the check up and if someone needed payment from them, they would eventually come to claim it.

The check is now in the hands of the authorities.

Jennifer recently contacted me again to find out why I have been ignoring her emails and to find out if I have been able to cash the check.  I told her that I was unable to cash it because my bank told me it was fraudulent but that I would be happy to return it if she sent me an address.

Take that Jennifer!

More on Henry Cooper...
Here is the e-mai after I gave him an address:
Hello,

Good to read from you and thanks for the details provided. I presume
we seal this a deal? I'll contact my secretary so that payment will be
issued out to you .... please i want you to consider the item sold and
keep off other interested buyers that would make inquiry cos am ready
for it's purchase.

As i've let you know that pick up and mover's fee will be included in
your payment, so upon cash of check, you'll make the pick up money
payable to the movers and the movers would arrange appropriate time
for pick up at your location as i have other properties to be moved.
I believe this is based on trust.

Thanks for your understanding.
Regards,
henry

After I got this I replied:"
Please provide your phone number so we can talk and make sure we are on the same page
Thanks
Then I sent another e-mail: "No deal till we talk.
& I've got someone else emailing

Haven't heard anything back.!
Stay away from any communications with Henry Cooper <henryiscooper2@googlemail.com

Henry Cooper - at it again.  Got my address and wanted to send check for movers to come pick up the item.
He wanted me to set up a pay-pal account.  I said no.  Told him to send a check or certified check.  Then I got this e-mail.  He never gave up a phone number so I told him - No deal till we talked and then I would give him the correct mailing Hello,

Here is the e-mail:

Thanks for the email. Yes i am interested in buying this item from you i will like to see some pictures of it if you have them available on your pc or phone, i will be paying you through paypal the most secure way of payment, i really wish i could do this locally in cash but i am not in the state due to my work as a Naval officer . I will make arrangement with a pick up company to come to your house for pick up i will be responsible for their chargers including paypal charges so, you don't have to bother yourself about that. I will need your paypal email address, your home address for pick up and your mobile number so that i can make the payment once i receive your paypal email address. I will be expecting your response as soon as possible.

Well, Henry Cooper is still at it! I received an email from Michelle, but the email address that "she" was emailing me from was "Henryxxcooper10@gmail.com". This was in response to a dinette set I am selling on CL. I am always leery of emails from buyers (especially when the grammar is incorrect) so I immediately googled the email address and saw this post. And of course he was just fishing... I'm not biting!

Here is the message "My name is Jennifer and will like to know if this item is still for sale."

Oh what fun! A real life scam (perhaps) ... I am in process of being set up, I think. I have indeed receive a check for over $3,000 for a $100 item from Jennifer Thompson, with request to send her movers the balance. - she knows them but does not know me and has trusted me with over $3,000 of cleared funds. she does not know my bank details. and as of 25th has no address for me... but wait there's more!

She is in California and deaf. She is collecting stuff from Arizona and wants me to pay her Movers who, it turns out is  an internet marketing company in LA. She says she know them. I am to send a money gram payable to an individual.  Why trust me? and if I have cleared funds of over $3,000 that is not mine (I dearly wish it were) how can I be the patsy?.... The check is likely a fake (I'll check today) so the idea is that I get the cash and money gram it on.... then in a few weeks when the check is discovered fake, the funds are deducted from my account! Revolting but brilliant

1. I had no warning that such a check size would be sent.
2. there was no receipt required by fed ex sent from NJ and drawn on a Huston TX account.
3. when I called the bank they said the person who deal with that would get back to me in a day or two!
4.  someone at this so called bank said "that's been happening a lot recently. (Checks going out with out reference letters!)

Have emailed Jennifer Thompson to say that her banks attitude and incompetence makes me believe her disability is being taken advantage of. So her money is safe but I will investigate!

She has emails me this AM saying not to worry and that it is all OK.......

I do not have time for this but it is such fun I simply cant resist. Either an eccentric wealthy deaf person is being treated extremely badly or she is neither deaf or necessarily a she, and is part of a scam ring. Sadly for them I LOVE this kind of stuff.

Please note I am NOT claiming Jennifer Thompson is a fraud, I simply have questions that need to be clarified.

Onwards.....

I rec'd the same from henry cooper, followed up by jennifer thompson for an item on craigslist in nashville.  Also claimed to be deaf and offered an extra $50 for me to delete my posting.  I responded "due to so many internet scams I could only accept cash, perhaps her "movers" could cash her check and bring me the cash when they came to pick up the item."

Sellers Beware:

Was selling my bedroom set for high price and was contacted by Susan Burkey. The person insisted on making payment through PayPal, asked a lot of questions that would have been answered had they actually read my ad, and was -very- pushy.

Email contents:

Thanks for your time.I'm buying it for my Daughter that just got married .I will only be making payment via paypal safest online payment(pls visit www.paypal.com)  for the convenience of both parties i have organized with  someone to come pick it up as soon as we're through with payment.I want you to know that i would have come with cash in hand myself and do the necessary things before concluding on payment but i'm not in the country right now due to work commitments, we save peoples life as i'm a public health worker with which we get transferred to a whole lot of places at anytime. So let me know your exact final selling price and email me your paypal email address so that i can transfer the funds at my earliest convenience

I understand PayPal has a  3.9% PayPal charges will be including as well.

After finding this site and seeing her name listed as a scam, I called this person out on it and advised they NOT contact me again. Thanks for keeping us updated here, and I hope my information will help another avoid such BS.

I have hence sent Susan's information to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center.

After posting my car on craigslist the next day I got a message from Charles R. Darwin (email:uswingsx64@googlemail.com) he sent me a message asking if the item was still for sale and to send him some pics. I responded that the car was still for sale and that I would send more pictures when I got home from work.
He responded:
Thanks for your quick response, Am trying to know condition because am
buying asap,so can you assure me that i will not be disappointed, also no
shipment involved as i have a mover that will come over for the pick
up and kindly back to me with your last price, as am requesting this
transaction should be done via PayPal so the PayPal charges is on me
and Payment will be made via PayPal only(if you don't have an
account,its easy,safe and secured just log on to (www.paypal.com) i m
presently out of town for my new project,so am sorry i will not be
able to come over to look at it in person and that's the only reason
why PayPal is the only Payment option. I hope we can make the purchase
as fast as possible? I want you to get back with the following details

1: Your Paypal email ID or a paypal payment invoice

2: Your Last asking price

3: Your contact address

I will be waiting for your mail.

Charles

After reading that I had a horrible feeling about this, he called it an item, he had never seen my car and was going to have a "mover" come and get it? If he was out of town why did he need it so fast?

I have never used PayPal and I called my bank for more information and to notify them about this email they said DON'T DO IT - ITS A SCAM!! I never emailed him back!!

Scam artists usually try to rush you, so you don't have time to think clearly, my bank also said that usually when they attach a website to their email, it is usually a fraud website to steal your bank account information!!
