Came home form work to see that this number 206-397-1224 had called on my landline at 9:37pm. I would love to know how they got my inlisted, private number!! I live on the East Coast. I think this number is from a Seattle Wa. business!
Or more likely a scam!!

I was able to call 253-246-8009. It was supposedly some sort of company that takes care of complaints for telemarketer calls. The voice was very careful not to identify themselves or the company they represent (probably because there are thousands of them). They told me to press 1, which I did.
I think it's ridiculous that these companies can hide behind aliases and break the law. I'm going to talk to my government representatives and see about stopping that. Of course, most politicians are taking $$ from these groups, I'm sure.
Tilting at windmills.
UPDATE: WRONG COMPANY 2012-07-23 23:12:31 Unknown
THE COMPANY IS NOT PACIFIC TELECOM SERVICES, LLC
Pacific Telecom Services, LLC is a design firm - they do not provide phone services.
If you call or visit them it is a waste of your time.
You want to contact PACIFIC TELECOMMUNICATIONS GROUP.
Contact the FTC and file complaints as you get the calls.
Do Not Call Me 2012-05-19 17:11:49 Telemarketer
This telephone number belongs to Pacific Telecom Communications Group. They insist that they do not initiate illegal telemarketing calls, however they are involved in managing the calling lists for their "3rd party contractors" who make the telemarketing calls.

I received a robot call from 971-220-1938. "If you think you are pissed off now, press 2 to stop unwanted calls".
Phoned the number and got Pacific Telecom Group - # no longer in service.

Anybody ever heard of Wikipedia? how about critical thinking? and the ability to educate yourself so you don't constantly sound like an idiot.... just a thought.
You are correct and not correct at the same time. You can spoof an "authentic" number. The "calling number" that shows up on your phone with the inbound call is just a piece of data - it can be real or fake it doesn't matter and the call can originate in Guam for all anyone knows - it's what is called an ANI (automated number identifier). If it's fake (no registered with any carrier in the US) then calling it back will get you a disconnect signal - if it's real (it is registered and connected in the carrier's network) then it's called a DID and calling it will go through the registered carrier's network and terminate where ever it's set to - which, yes, even means you can connect to the company if the forwarding is set at the carrier level to forward to them.
So if a company in Guam makes a call through their local carrier (phone company) and spoof/broadcast the ANI/phone number for the Whitehouse then it looks like it's coming from the Whitehouse but it is not... and yes, calling it back (because it is a real number) will result in you reaching the Whitehouse because it's registered with the Whitehouse carrier.
So what do we all do about the calls we get?
* File a complaint with the carrier and ask them to contact their subscriber on your behalf (the carrier will not provide information on their subscriber for the very reason you and I DEMAND that our own carrier not divulge ours)
* Contact your AG office
* Contact the FCC
Don't answer calls (if you can) from unknown numbers - if it's important they will leave a message. Block the number with your carrier or on your device - if it's a cellphone and you can't block then save in your contacts as DON'T ANSWER.... whatever it takes.

I disagree. If it was a spoofed number we wouldn't be able to call it back. But when we originate the call to the number on caller id, we actually reach a recording from a marketing company, thus the number must be authentic. For instance, if they spoofed the white house number, as you reference, if we called that number we would get the white house, not the marketing company. But in this instance, we actually do connect to the marketing company.

At SOME point you ALL will grow at least 1 brian cell and figure out the people using this number are SPOOFING IT. In other words for the inbreeds out there, that means that it is not even the number calling you...The caller ID is being FAKED>>>so call them all you want..heres the first clue.
1 This is a USA Based comminucations company, that has to follow USA Laws, would it make sense for them to USE THE PHONE NUMBER THAT WILL TRACK them down? No a frigging 4th grader knows what SPOOFING is...Damn People grow at least 1 brain cell and figure it out.
The CALLER ID NUMBERS can NOT be TRUSTED. The Companys that BREAK THE RULES AND LAWS use INTERNET BASED PHONES THAT FAKE THE CALLER ID< AND ARE >>>>>>>>>>UNTRACEABLE!!!!<<<<<<<<<<< Do you get it yet >? Or do you need a NEON Flashing sign with a 4 week class to UNDERSTAND that almost NONE of the calls that BREAK THE LAW send out a REAL CALLER ID PHONE NUMBER>>>>DO YOU UNDERSTAND YET<<<<<<<
THEY COULD PUT THE WHITE HOUSE PHONE NUMBER IN IT, DOESNT MEAN THATS WHO IS MAKING THE CALLS.......do we under stand this NOW?<<<<<<HELLO?<<<<<<
THE USE OF THIS KIND OF A REPORTING SYSTEM WORKED 10 YEARS AGO BEFORE SPOOFING...BUT IT IS WORTHLESS NOW........THEY ARE FAKED PHONE NUMBERS FOR THE MOST PART NOW.......and you can do NOTHING ABOUT IT, and the FEDS will do nothing about it.

Oh, and there's a whole list ofher numbers that they call from:
253-246-8009
253-246-8068
406-426-3038
406-290-3626
There're more, but you get the point. Check out www.telcodata.us, and go to "area code/exchange" to find the prefix of the numbers that call you. This is a quick and easy way to track down the carrier. The downside is that many times it's next to impossible to find any more information about the carrier because they hide behind other names.... sigh.

Ugh! I'm so tired of these calls. Thanks Eric & Thanks Loqua for the information. I've made it my mission to start calling Steve Hamilton on his cell phone 310-895-0574 every time one of his "associates" calls mine!
BTW I tried the 206-397-1930 number for Telecom Pacific and it's not a good number. Just a fast busy.
However, I can tell you that the phone service carrier is in fact PACIFIC TELECOM TELECOMMUNICATIONS GROUP. All the information that I've been able to find leads me to Steve Hamilton, but I can't seem to get a good number that someone will actually answer. So I'll just continue to call his cell phone (though it's likely a waste of time).

a Pre-Recorded message came from this number to our office asking me about saving my home from foreclosure with a modification. It said to press zero to speak with a representative. I pressed zero and the person I called was totally elusive.
I attempted to ask questions and was hung up on.

OK, I called Pacific Telecom, they said, call Telecom Pacific. (1-206-397-1930) I called them, they looked up the number and said the number was not registered to anyone but that they would file my complaint. Please call TELECOM PACIFIC with complaints, not Pacific Telecom, as that will do nothing. (Pacific Telecom puts up cell phone towers.)
Tiredofitall 2010-07-01 19:05:48 Unknown
I spoke with someone at Pacific Telecom and they said NO, it's not them we want to call. It's Telecom Pacific that is the phone company. Their number is 206-397-1930

I found out a little more information. I found the phone company that provides this service to the phone number we are complaining about 206-397-5130. Here is the info. I plan to call the phone company, send an email and send a fax with my grievances regarding calls like this one. The phone company should share some responsibility to get it stopped...in my humble opinion.
