Same message.
Not sure why authorities can't trace them with the phone number as they do need some kind of documentation to get phone numbers assigned.
Anyways, just a scam as usual.

Looks like everyone has already reported it. My wife got a call from this number and I got an automated call today from 732-326-9779. Be careful of both...they are scammers.

Same message as the other posters here, text received on 9/25. I have no Wells Fargo accounts. I knew it was a scam but my curiosity finally got the better of me so I called the number from a pay phone and got a fast busy. So I'd guess this particular number was disconnected. Hopefully not too many people got roped in before then.

Looks like we all got the same text. I do not have a Wells Fargo account, either. I am sending reportphish@wellsfargo.com an email with the information. I checked the Wells Fargo website and got that address.

I just got a text:
WELLS FARGO ALERT: Your CARD starting with 4868 has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at: 206-427-9512.
The actual text came from 360-334-2701. I responded letting them know that I am reporting them to the authorities.
Im happy this forum exists, otherwise so many people would get scammed by this type of thing. Thanks
don't reply 2011-09-27 03:05:24 Unknown
Who did you report it too so we can all do the same. Most of us don't actually have Wells Fargo accounts ...is there a specific security # or department you have a # for the rest of us to call? thanks!
dont reply! 2011-09-27 03:03:06 Unknown
Its a scam...they want you to call back and give them your card # as if you are verifying your account. They then use your account to charge stuff and steal your credit. Text came from 541-228-4278, Requested you calll them at 206-427-9512 to give them your account info. Also have never had a Wells Fargo Account...
Cougarfish 2011-09-27 02:54:52 Unknown
Just got a text - don't have a wells fargo account wondering if it's a scam.
Jason 2011-09-27 02:49:27 Unknown
I got this SMS and was shocked. I've had my cell number for 10 years and don't have a Wells Fargo account. So... I called the number to give them a piece of my mind. No menu.. only asking for the card number. Entered 0's and the call disconnected. Called back and entered 4868 followed by 0's... disconnected again. Forward to 7726 to report spam to AT&T.
Thanks, danno, for reminding that I can do that. :D
danno 2011-09-27 02:00:45 SMS
Me to... i just reported it to ATT SMS spam. It is definitely a scam. No one should respond or share any information with that 206 number. They are obviously trying to get your full account number. I don't even have a wells fargo card and got the email so they are fishing wide.
Radek 2011-09-27 01:17:17 Unknown
The recording does sound somewhat legit but it is not. Heh... we do not even have WellsFargo
KK 2011-09-27 00:39:28 Unknown
