There s nothing we or the gov can do about these stupid calls. DO NOT ANSWER CALLS YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE
If it is important they will leave a message. Do not ask them to remove you from a list, that just ensures that they will pass on you number to other robo. They get paid to do this. Most of the calls come from outside the USA and are routed through one of our area codes. You can actually have your calls routed through a an area code outside your own area (If you want someone to think you live in another area)
The gov spent $50,000.00 recently to two people who had invented a way to block the calls, but their services are not available in most areas.
At the present time, I just do not answer and if I mistakenly m pick up one, I scream into the phone...."the job is done,...blood is everywhere...run....run...run." and hang up.

Well a***ole, I already "opted out" when I put my number on the "Do not call list" and you didn't follow THAT did you?!

I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.
Another hang-up call. I love how the Caller ID has the number on it as the name of the caller, because anytime I see that I know it's a scammer.

I just received a call from this phone number for the first time. I picked it up and heard a recorded message about lowering my student fees and loans. I had the option to press 1 if I wanted to speak with someone. I didn't do anything, and the call ended within 30 seconds.
around the block once 2013-10-08 14:52:29 Unknown
Yeah, sure. I have yet to see that work. I have had a brand new number and it was from a new three-digit exchange and I tried that on the first telemarketing call I got. Then the next day I got 3 more, the day after 6 more. That "exclusion" just verifies you as a working number. Best solution: caller ID. You don't know them, don't answer.

this number calls me every day!!!!!no one there.!!!!!!
Cayla Ary 2013-09-18 22:05:01 Unknown
left a message saying I owed $10000 to IRS the IRS doesn't not call you.
Andy 2013-09-18 18:35:24 Unknown
Th DNC is just a government feel good piece of crap aimed at people who think they need government to protect them. Just use the available technology to block the calls. People who advocate potentially damaging someone's hearing, simply because they called you, suck more than the annoying telemarketers.

phone rings just enough to disrupt my work day and nobody is there
Attorney Dyane Smith 2013-09-03 15:20:40 Unknown
The Washington Attorney General needs to investigate this number. There is a loop, you provide your number to be removed, you are simply shifted to another number and the calls resume. SHUT THEM DOWN.
Cathy 2013-08-21 15:54:18 Unknown
My phone identifies the number is from Washington. Won't leave message. I do not answer but would like to STOP receiving calls.

Same ole crap, Robo-calls.
And the fools who believe they will remove you from their list, dont fall for that crap, they will know they have good numbers to sell to others to continue calling you, trying to sell you crap.
Ken M. 2013-08-19 18:35:21 Unknown
Yes this is true, they let you remove your phone number from their list.

Reduce my student loans? I HAVE NO STUDENT LOANS! Never did.
When is the FTC going to crack down on robocalls? Big deal, they prosecute less than 1/10th of 1% of all complaints. Imagine the revenue they could create by fining all of these companies....
Tamianth 2013-08-14 22:20:26 Unknown
Linda the DNC list is permanent! Once you register its there!
Only a honest business is going to use the DNC list, charity and political is exempt! Scammers are not going to honor any list, let alone any laws!
Most political and charity's will honor your request to remove if asked though! And you can also sign up for the political do not call list :

Tamianth 2013-08-14 22:16:47 Unknown
No the DNC does not expire! That was made as permanent a couple years back! Once you register, it does not expire!
Linda 2013-08-14 22:13:51 Unknown
Really wish the DO NOT CALL would work. I would feel like a million if it did. You say 5 years? How about I did the DO NOT CALL 2 years ago and I am being hammered, home phone, and all cell phones.

Scammer - Got my number from Craigslist. First call: Recording about getting student loans refinanced. Second call: Recording about erasing IRS debt. These people are annoying me.
NH 2013-08-14 03:27:02 Unknown
Recorded solicitation stated that the government is now forgiving student loans. The message asks you to call them back at a different phone number to find out how.
