Debt Collector
Receivables Performance Management (RPM), kept calling myself and my husband in regards to a Dish bill.  DO NOT OWE Dish and have verification by them that we have never been delinquent and don't owe them anything.  Pulled up our credit reports and there it is.  Now in the process of proving our innocence.  Husband tried to explain that we do not owe Dish any money and they would not listen.  Were very rude. Feel very confused.  Guess my ignorance has me wondering, how in the world can they get all our information for something we don't owe!!  Please check your credit reports everyone!!

Dear Rebecca R Krouse..
800notes is not affiliated with your callers, we are not calling you either. 800notes is a forum for reporting who calls you and any information you may have about the call to share with other forum users. It is highly doubtful that your callers are reading here also.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

Report your callers here:

https://esupport.fcc.gov/ccmsforms/form1088.action
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2

Received a call from this number today on my husband's phone. Lady on the other end spoke with a very thick foriegn accent (? Middle Eastern or Indian), mispronounced my name, then made some reference to "Dial-a-Friend". I advised her that I had nothing to do with Dial-a-Friend and to lose the phone number, then I disconnected the call.

We receive numerous calls daily from different debt collectors, scamers and telemarketers.  Anytime they harass by calling umpteen times it is against the law in States and with the Federal Communications Commission.  The Attorney General of Colorado is investigating numerous callers of this type.

There are specific guidelines according to the law of each state and the FCC.

Names are obtained by perusing LinkedIn, Twitter, and other such areas.

Do not let them bully you into paying any debt they "claim" you owe.  The will harass you forever!!

Keep careful records & contact your State Attorney General's Office.

This number called my cell phone at 5:03AM.  I awakened, did not recognize number, so ended noise. (Called back on another phone and found it was RPM (Seattle area) from a recorded answering machine. One time, someone did leave a message for a Maria Gomez?  Probably from same number (last year).

If this was a debt call, it is illegal to call before 8AM...Though who knows, anymore?  Poor Maria!

When you answer, they have an answering machine asking you to stay on the line as it is a very important message. They also have had a person from India asking you to agree that you will speak to the person who will be coming on the line in a minute and for you to agree to stay on the phone while that person comes to the phone. What a pile of lard! They are only looking to abscond money from you. I hang up and they still keep calling every day 3 times a day. I don't answer anymore. Their in-coming phone number has now switched from Wash. State, 804-234-9019 to Virginia State, 206-445-6637. I guess they are getting the big dogs after me now! Like I'm scared. If you answer, just for the heck of it, tell them you are on to their scam as it is all over the blogs. Also, tell them Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Just for them and all of their buddies to drop dead immediately!

It's the dance of privacy and disclosure which is performed by debt collectors across America. It violates the privacy of hunted persons to discuss their alleged debts, and gets agencies easily sued. Meanwhile, that fear of the law will not be reflected as you are subjected to more skip trace calls. But to use the law wisely, you can't just hang up and ignore the agency. You must make it plain that future calls are not allowed.

By now you should have a required dunning letter in hand if you were the target, which means you should send a written dispute. Otherwise the calls have been for someone else, and you're free to send a "cease communication" notice.

Actually they only have to stop if they  get the request in writing.  If you just vocalize your  request then it's  your word  against  theirs.

Debt Collector
I was called by this company today, it was a human/male who left a voice message. He refused to say who he was looking for about a debt, what the debt was, etc. Instead he just kept saying that he was calling about a debt, like he didn't know anything else to say to me. Finally about 5 minutes of this, I hung up. Very annoying!

} Someone needs to put a stop to their illegal company please.

That someone is you. It's your job to raise a dispute, your job to demand validation, and your job to restrict how and when RPM may contact you. Federal law enacted 36 years ago stands by to help.

}  not respecting wishes of people of being placed on the do not call list!!!

.... because non-sales callers don't need to, as already discussed.

} Some [sic] needs to investigate

Each one of us is a deputized private attorney general, in a way. Controlling and defeating rogue collectors is *your job* and mine, using the FDCPA and similar state laws. Sure, you can write to the CFPB, FTC, and attorneys general, but their warm body numbers are few and the problems affect millions.
