how do i get them to stop calling? who are they ? what do they want?

Every few months I get several dozen calls from this number. Then it stops for a while, then starts again.

My carrier (Sprint) allows me to block callers.  They called me 3X this morning so I just blocked them.

Have been gettings calls from 206-496-0490. Caller ID says STUDENT SERVICES. Finally a woman began talking very fast as though I was finalizing a student loan application.
 I told her I was sorry and that I have that done locally at the community college where I go.
I hung up.  Actually I do not have anything to do with school right now.

Are your kid's schools or someone affiliated with your schools sharing your number?

These people need to stop bothering me. they got my info through hacking a relatives email acct. There is nothing that they have that I want--other than to be left alone by them

This ph # has called about 6xs yesterday and several more today. Totally annoying. Yep-I called back and it says it's a telemarketing # and to press 1 to be added to the no call list....it's still calling me...

I've gotten 7 calls from this same number today. It's very irritating. Who the hell is this????? When thy start talking I can barely understand them so I hang up and they call me right back. This is beyond frustrating and should be considered harassment!

I don't know who I made the mistake in sharing my number with but I've been getting callse from "Student Services" from various numbers from all over the country for several months. The intensity has dissolved some, since I just stopped answering and sometimes told them to take me off their list. But they mostly hang up on me when I say that. Also, when you call these numbers back, you very seldom get a live person. ANNOYING!!!!

I kept getting the calls as well.  If you call the number back you will get a prompt to get your number off of their list. Worked for me with a couple of different numbers.  I am also on the Do Not Call Registry but if you were on a marketing site and gave your information they  can call.  I have learned that if they need a number I change a few of the numbers never give my own.

Foreign-accented man says I requested info on a career college and he wants to enroll now.   He listed several low-paying "careers" which typically don't require technical training, including Floral Designer and Food Service.

I received three calls today from 206-496-0490 but did not answer, and no message was left.

At a minimum, a complaint should be filed with the FCC at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints.  The form takes a few minutes to fill out and you can file a complaint against three different numbers.  I think this is the most effective way to deal with this problem.  If you file a complaint with the FCC, be sure to submit the link to this thread in the complaint form.  That way, the FCC will be aware that the caller has done this repeatedly.

We need CRIMINAL penalties against the companies that are profiting from these calls. Follow the money, slap them in jail, no one left to outsource to overseas boiler rooms, problem solved.
Since they are operating across borders it should become a federal felony and should be handled by the FBI under the RICO Act.

These calls are coming from call centers in Costa Rica and India and they are using spoofed (false) numbers, which in itself is illegal. They do cold calling for or sell the leads to numerous companies in this country and they know that what they are doing is illegal. Tomorrow this same number may be selling Cruises, Timeshares or Security Systems, but if you follow the money it usually ends up in the hands of an American LLC. Keep complaining to the FTC and FCC, and start bugging our politicians to pass laws to make it punishable in criminal court instead of handing out fines that they don't pay. Another course of action is to contact phone companies to find out why they won't block spoofed numbers. With today's technology that should be an easy thing to do, unless they are somehow profiting from the use of their systems.

Robocalls are illegal unless you have given them prior permission in writing (not worded into some small print contract from a 3rd party) and are absolutely illegal to a cell phone.  The Telephone Consumer Protection Act permits individuals who have received certain unlawful telemarketing, such as junk faxes or telemarketing calls, to sue the violator in state court where they may be awarded up to $1500 for each violation.  See:

Thus direct number did not call, but the damage company deductor plus called me and tried to sell me on their product. Their product was to save me more money on my taxes. I asked now they got my information they said with was from some website when I was looking into colleges. She was persistent in taking down my visa information and I told her no. Her name was Maggie. She told me she had to take down much information before the consultants can contact me and that she would not be able to call me back if I refused now. I said no and told her to have a great day.

Have rec'd numerous calls - sometimes no one is there when I pick up, sometimes they are...  They keep asking for someone other than me - I've told them twice that they have the wrong name and to please remove my number.  Well, they just called again today - asked for the same person that they've been asking for and I lit them up!  I firmly asked to be removed from their call list...  Felt good to yell at them, but we will see how effective it was.  Said he was calling from the offices of Deductor Plus.  Some scan to help you save on your deductions on your pay check???  They come up with all kinds!!!

they have called 2 times today in a 3 hr period and asked for my son who is college age and when I say he is not here they say ok have a good day, gives you no chance to say anything to them. Its also foreign people speaking.

I got a call from them too today at work. The guy was very pushy and demanded that I hear his sales pitch. He still kept talking even after I said I do not buy things over the phone, not interested and to not call me again. He kept going and I had to end the call immediately. Very annoying. Just moved to Texas and registered our numbers on the Federal do not call registry.

Yeah they started calling me yesterday afternoon and called me like 4-5 times today. That is just nuts!

I have been called 3 times within the last 3 hours from this number. The second time I picked up and they hung up immediately.
They just called again and no one there, I called back that number and I got a recording saying, "This number is no longer in service" So, I called it again, same thing.
So, if this number is no longer in service, how come I keep getting called by them?? Amazing.

Received several calls from this number today beginning about 9 am.  Finally was where I could answer after 3 pm.  The lady asked for "Nancy" when i told her there was no Nancy here, she hung up before I could finish the sentence.

They have literally called me 4 times today. I didn't answer it.

They called me to "help me find a college." When I told them that I was a grandmother with a college degree he rudely hung up. But then........they call every single day afterwards......IDIOTS!!!!!!!!! Total maddening idiots. Yes, make them stop!
