I've been getting calls from this 206-501-3143 number for about a month now.  An East Indian guy every time with a thick accent telling, or trying to tell me that there is a serious matter in regards to my social security and I need to call him back or they will file charges and have me arrested.  I finally answered when my cousin, who is a lawyer, was visiting.  I had previously explained the situation to my cousin so he was knowledgeable.  I put the phone on speaker and we listened to the guy attempting to explain how I owed a debt to a company and they were brought in as a third party to settle the claim.  When I asked the name of the company, they could not tell me.  When I asked how can I contact this "so called" company, they said I had to deal with them directly and not the company.  This is where my cousin stepped in and informed them that I had a right as a consumer to not only have the information about the company that I owe, but I also had the right to recieve information in writing so that I and/or my attorney could review it before any transactions are made.  He tried to rebuttle, but when my cousin started quoting legal terms and told them that he was going to have the number traced, they hung up the phone.  I haven't heard from them in a week when they used to call 4-5 times a day.  

Understand, you have the right to have access to all information, no matter what the situation may be.  If a creditor or third party of a creditor refuses to give you the information over the phone or by mail or fax, they are inturn refusing you of your legal rights as a consumer and you are not obligated to pay anything until you have the information to check yourself.  It is always a good rule of thumb to get everything in writing, mail not fax, so that you can fully grasp the situation and take it to an attorney, if neccessary.  Never send any money because someone threatens to turn you into the athorities.  The police will only get involved in matters of theft or writing hot checks.  These matters are civil and the company will have to take you to court to settle, and most will not spend the time or money to do this because it takes more money to go to court than to file it as a loss on their insurance.  Your credit will be screwed, but you don't have to worry about jail!  I'm not saying don't pay off your debits or loans!  I'm saying don't be SCAMED by these phony collectors.  Know your rights as a consumer!

I keep getting this call and also a call from another number w/ the area code of 724, the same guy w/ the thick accent calls and leaves messages for me to return his call as it is urgent. His accent is so thick first he said this name was Thomas Alexander and now he said his name is Peter Brown, and that its very important that I call him back or else all he can do is wish me luck for what's about to happen to me. To me if its a ligit creditor instead of leaving a long distance number, any ligit company would leave a toll free number or account reference.

Ive been getting these calls for months now! The 1st one I got I thought I actually owed money too because I did do a payday loan so I paid them $987.00 for a lian that was $375 now a month later I'm getting another call from someone who sounds just like him with a thick Indian accent saying I had a payday loan that I never paid when I ask for information he couldn't tell me anything like what bank the money was deposited in or even when the loan was taking out! All he could tell me was that I took a loan out sometime didn't know the date and it was for $380 and they wanted $6528.00 from me but will settle for $1472.00 when I asked what account I had the money deposited in they couldn't tell me so I told him to go screw but in harsher words. A month later I have another one calling me saying the same thing but this time it's a loan for $380 they want $4398.00 from me but will settle for $857 but now is threating me so I told him I was going to the police station and he told me good this will make my job easier and they can arrest u there!! I went and guess what I didn't get arrested it's a freakin scam!!!
