So glad I did a google of this number as I received the same e-mail after posting on google for our townhouse in North Myrtle beach rental posted on Craigs List and I also fell for it hook line and sinker and even blocked off the dates from my real estate agent.  I even sent DR. Mike Shogun a contract.  So I guess the scam is he sends a fake cashiers check and then wants me to send balance to his agent in the USA. How would that work as I would go to bank to cash it first and it would be found out to be fake!  I don't know why he wasted our time.

PLEASE PASS THIS INFORMATION ON TO ALL RENTAL WEBSITES.  WE WERE CONTACTED ON A SITE CALLED VRBO=VACATION RENTALS BY OWNER.  THE STORY WAS SO FAR FETCHED AND WE KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHAT THEY WERE TRYING TO PULL OFF.  DO NOT BE SCAMMED.

I received an email via yahoo mail from "Steven Thomas" about buying a car from me. They said the check for the vehicle would be in my mailbox Friday, September 7. I hadn't received payment so therefore I googled the name, address, etc. and found that apparently this person is a big fraud.

Same scammer e-mailed me as mikearaf@yahoo.com with identical broken english text. The e-mail originated in Nigeria. It was a response to a vacation rental ad I posted on craigslist. BEWARE!!

All the same, I want you to listen carefully and see if you can honestly help me out of this to make this surprise honeymoon gift a memorable one. I am really out to make this surprise gift an extra-ordinarily memorable one since I would nt be attending the wedding.
But then , I need you to accomplish this, can I trust you, my dear ? If yes, would you be willing to do me this special favour now?
 
Before I was suddenly recalled to active duty without fore-notice, I rendered certain services to a firm there in the states, and was about to receive the payment for that when I was suddenly called back to active duty here in the gulf. As a result of that, I couldn?t receive the payment.
I want to instruct the firm to send this check  payment to you, since it is now obvious that I will not be attending the wedding.They will do that ASAP if I instruct them.
 
But the special favour I want you to do me  now to ensure the success of this surprise gift to my Godson and company is this.
Since the check will be in the amount of $ 12,745,(Twelve Thousand,Seven Hundred and Forty -Five Dollars) ,which I know is far more than your rental bill including the bill for sending them flowers and wedding gift. On receipt of  the check,I want you to  kindly deduct your bill and send the balance to my  logistics agent to enable the agent take care of other arrangements like car,(Limousine ) hire for them, air tickets for 4,etc and pay himself for the services he is going to render to my people.
 
Inshort, I want  the honeymooners to receive the greatest  pleasant surprise of their life by making sure they receive the treatment of   kings and Queens.That will be my greatest happiness , I do not care what it takes and I am not settling for any thing less.
 Please Dear, I would have to depend on you to make this dream come through.I would like to meet you in person when I am back from active duty.My promise is this, if you can honestly and kindly assist me in this ,you will never regret you did.Take me for my words.
I will instruct the firm to send the check to you through over night mail if you promise that you would be willing to render to me this special assistance considering my current condition here in the gulf.

We got an e-mail inquiry desiring to rent an apartment, same line...is a doctor on a US aircraft carrier; wants to surprise a honeymoon couple.  Here he used the name Dr. Peter Solomon. Said he had a cashier's check ready to mail.

Am I ever glad I googled his phone number!

E-mailed to rent my property. Searched this number. Obviously not going to "rent" to him. Used the name Paul Stone / Edward or Nina Kaminsky.

hi I recieved something simular to your request and got suspicious--just for the heck of it I thought I would type in his number and this site popped up--glad I did my homework!  He left the same phone # and that he was reserving the rental for honeymooning friends also. He was a doctor too and in the gulf, wanted to pay by cashiers check also.  Thanks for posting your information.

Yeah it's a scam!
I have him busy sending me a check (to add to my collection) for two months rental on a property I'm renting on craigslist.com.
It's good to keep them busy, keeps them out of trouble!!

I placed a vehicle on autotrader and received a text message for the bottom price I would sell the vehicle for.  I sent an email, seemed very strange, and this was the reply:

Thanks for your mail. . I am delighted to tell you that am  appreciates and commends your vehicle , with full interest, he is willing to carry on with this transaction.Futhermore he advised that the vehicle should be taken off internet and consider your vehicle as being sold. I have finalized with my client on the price of($17,000)which is the last bottom  price for your vehicle  and its ok by him, I have forwarded your vehicle information including your last mail to him for his proper records.
 
 
He also instructed me to inform you that payment will get to you in a US certified cashier cheque of ($25,000) which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier made by my client .Due to company policy this cheque has to be made out in this amount to you,Because company policy only allows a refund payment on one cashier cheque.So you are required to deduct the cost of your vehicle($17,000) when payment gets to you and refund balance ($8,000) to the Agent ( our shipper ) for him to be able to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic repair costs.
   
 
After payment has reached you and balance sent back to my agent,he will then proceed with his mechanics for the inspection, pick up(of vehicle & signing of papers), make some cosmetic touches and ride  to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer,while title papers and other necessary documets will be handed over to my agent at the time of pick up.

I have my house for sale and "lubusi simeon" <luzi_james02@yahoo.com> contacted me with this email:
"I have accepted your price . I will make a deposit of $30,000 to you for the property.I have made out a certified cashiers check of $36,000 then the balance of $6,000 is for my broker for her trip to the states for property inspection and other necessary renovation and welfare.So you're required to deduct the deposit of ($30,000) and send the balance of ($6,000) to my broker for her trip to the states and other necessary arrangements .
Therefore kindly mail me back because i am satisfied with the price of  your property.The remaining balance will close within 30 days of my brokers arrival and all the paper work will handle by my  broker Please Confirm this and provide the following information of the owner for the payment :-'

I received an email regarding a vacation rental with this phone number in it. He "Steve Lawson" used a yahoo email address, stating that the rental is a surprise for a honeymooning couple.  Also he can't be reached because he is a doctor in a U.S. Aircraft carrier in the Gulf, but that I could leave a message at the above phone number.

Thomas contacted me via email using a free yahoo email account, and asked me to reply and call with various information regarding home for sale.  Very suspicious.  Not replying.
