Heads up peoples!  I googled number. It came up that it is not a legit number. That its a spoof call. (Which should be illegal and app engineers investigated & prosecuted by Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission for inventing such) When I called missed call on caller ID back? They wanted me to press a number on their menu options on my cell phone keypad. DONT!!!
I believe that when a person does so - they have it programmed, on purpose, where they can hack phones piggyback on your phone to listen in - to get your credit card info if you pay your bills over phone check banking accounts etc. To obtain your identifying information.  Don't press on anything. Don't take their bait!  Especially when it comes to OPT OUT type options. On landlines too. Seriously. This fraud has got to be halted!  

Had this outfit call me a half a dozen timed and finally got a person that spoke clear enough English I could understand him.  He said he was a insurance broker that would shop for me for better car insurance rates,  don't give them any information! AL.

Its a company called Freeway Insurance... they are selling insurance at least that is what they told me.

I just get a call from this company i answer the phone the company name is SEGUROS SIN BARRERAS is an auto insurance the call me because i was looking for new auto insurance is the same company of INGLES SIN BARRERAS

I called the number back and it's some Spanish recording the following it is a English recording where she speaks so fast you can't understand her. I left a message telling them to remove my number and that I'm reporting them.

DO NOT ANSWER THIS PHONE # 888-231-7557 IT IS A MEXICAN TELEMARKETER. THEY ARE SCAMMING FOR MONEY.

I have no idea how they got my number but they are persistent. I don't pick up nor will I call them back. That'll only make them see that my numbers valid and the calls will increase. I reported them but I see that hasn't done any good. Did anyone have any luck pressing charges?? It's obnoxious to say the least.

I don?t know how they got my cell phone number but someone has been calling several times since 12/20/12.  I do not speak Spanish and I told them ?do not call me?.  I?ve received at least 8 calls since then and it uses up my minutes when I answer the call.  There was another call this morning.  I do not have an unlimited number of minutes to use and this is costing me money.  

I sent an email to their "Do Not Call" address.  Since they are a member of the Better Business Bureau, I hope they are responsible enough to do this.

This number currently belongs to Survival Auto Insurance.  I initiated a business relationship with them a few months back, and they called me today about a business matter.  I didn't recognize the number because they don't usually call me from that number, but they left a voicemail message.

Got a call on my buisness line three times yesterday answered and everytime hung up. Recieved call again today answered and this time it was somebody claiming they are calling back in regards to an insurance quote. I explained they called a buisness and identified the type of buisness called and he said ok I will call back later. I told him that the number he dialed is my direct line and he was only going to keep getting me. He said somebody most likely called from my phone. I told him that nobody uses my phone but me.  Hopefully they will stop calling.

I recieve a call at least 5 times a day. The company is called, Lexicon Marketing... THe exact company that calls is a company selling a program to help learn english called: "Ingles sin Barreras"...

Yes they are Lexicon and they sell a program for Spanish speaking people to learn English.  So they probably do have the wrong number. The Program is Sin Barreras Ingles.  Someone has given them the wrong number or they dialed it wrong.

I received a call from this guy named Ariel from 888 231 7557, apparently they sell english learning programs but this is a non-stop calling, he asked for Marco, i replied wrong number, then he asked me who i was, i replied the phone's owner and then he said he was the PD and the call was being recorded, totally waste of time, i wish i knew where they are locate it and tell them in person to stop calling

got a call from this number yesterday and now another today.  Only one call each of the days, but I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know.  I think I will report this number to the do-no-call list as well as my number is registered.

just saw on another site that the company name is lexicon and their direct number is 323-782-7400 maybe we should fllod their phones with calls to see how they like it by the way i called it and got some message in spanish they are located in ca

yeah i got a call today and cursed them out cuase they keep calling what i did is report them to the do not call list which my number is register too and they took my complaint so i am guessing that they will get a fine sooner or later you guys need to do the same

Spam caller

I usually do not answer "unknown" calls from "888" area codes - it is illegal under the Federal Fair Trade Act to make business phone calls with "Unknown" as the caller. After 15 rings, though, and at 8:05 p.m., I was angry. I picked up the phone and said simply "You rang my phone 15 times, which is against the law. Do not call here anymore". I hung up, but I heard a Spanish-speaking lady hollering some gibberish in the background. If you can believe it - the caller phoned AGAIN. I picked it up immediately and asked, "Okay. Who are you with?" I can SUE this caller for $1000 and I definitely will do it! Well, the lady switched to English and asked for "Mingo". She said, "This is probably a wrong number." I hit the ceiling. I told her, "All of that mess with ringing my telephone, and for someone that does not even live here?!!!" This happened just minutes ago, so the details are fresh in my mind and I am stating them truthfully. I don't need a lawyer. I am going to find these people and file my complaint with the Federal court on Monday.


Maybe I misquoted the Fair Trade Act, but here, verbatim, (below) is something that can be used. The "remedy" is $1000 for each violation. Even though these laws are intended to protect consumers against debt collectors, I still do not know who these people are that are calling me - maybe "Mingo" owes a debt. There is at least one comment that indicates the 888-231-7557 people are looking to collect for a balance due. In that case, the complaints in my suit will apply. (btw, I went straight to the do not call site and registered a complaint.)

A debt collector may not engage in any conduct the natural consequence of which is to harass, oppress, or abuse any person in connection with the collection of a debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section:
(1) The use or threat of use of violence or other criminal means to harm the physical person, reputation, or property of any person.
(2) The use of obscene or profane language or language the natural consequence of which is to abuse the hearer or reader.
(3) The publication of a list of consumers who allegedly refuse to pay debts, except to a consumer reporting agency or to persons meeting the requirements of section 603(f) or 604(3)1 of this Act.
(4) The advertisement for sale of any debt to coerce payment of the debt.
(5) Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number.
(6) Except as provided in section 804, the placement of telephone calls without meaningful disclosure of the caller's identity.

I have discovered that these people also mortgages and "pay day loans" to Hispanics with bad credit.  They ARE debt collectors!

These people called me after my brother made a prank call on my cell. The number he called 1-800-777-7777. Somebody told me it was the Mexian Border. Ha. I have no idea.

I get calls from this number (although I never make it in time to answer it) but yeah I called back and it's some weird mexican company, they call me about once a week.
I think I might take some action.
