I got close to 20 calls from this area with different numbers from 11:58 am up to 1 pm and started again at 4 pm.
I am a physician and I have found this very annoying. If you answer the phone or call back, all you get is a high pitched sound like it is connected to a fax machine or something. Anyway how can we stop this B.S. ??
This should by illegal !!!!

This is one of my all time favorite organizations. I don't live in Seattle but I go every few years to thier Ring cycles. I always donate as much as I can at that time andhave sometimesmade $1000 plus contributions. Their current program with what I'm guessing is an outside marketing firm making the calls does not leave messages, usually doesn't even let the phone ring enough times for me to look at the number, and they will continue calls over repeated weeks. They also do not identify themselves. I handled the last batch of calls by taking over the conversation as soon as I spoke to the solicitor; I explained I had requested in writing repeatedly that no calls be made for any reasons concerning donations/tickets sales and that Ihad been having this problem for years. A perky woman apologized and said this wouldn't happen anymore and then she went into her spiel. I had to interupt her and say she hand't been listening to a word I'd said; then I hung up. It took about three monhts before another person started calling. I stopped that in its tracks but will see how long it will be before someone else starts it again. If it keeps up, my next letter will be to the new general director.

This number definitely belongs to Seattle Opera. I know because I called it back and asked not to be called anymore. They use it to call people who have purchased a ticket from them in the past, to let them know about upcoming promotions. I attended the 2013 production of the Ring, and then began receiving calls on this number, but no-one ever left a message. The person I reached was very polite and immediately took steps to remove me from their list. If calls from this number have been bothering you, just call it back and complain....Seattle Opera needs to know it's practices are annoying people.

Got a call from them a week or two ago at my work phone as a relatively new employee. They are trying to contact the previous owner of this number. I told them they had the wrong person. Nonetheless I received a call from this number, with no voice mail left today. You'd think if I spoke to the person last week and told them it was a work phone and it no longer belonged to the person they were trying to reach that they'd stop calling. Hope I don't get continuous empty voice mails from them at work... :-(

I have repeatedly asked to be removed from their list, and still they call. I love the opera, but they suck!

They called late in the evening to solicit donations. Left no message. Called back next day. Annoying!

This is the Seattle Opera, calling to solicit donations.
| shannon 2011-06-06 20:42:18 Unknown |
Yup, Seattle Opera. Just curious though. If they left no message, how do you know that they called to solicit donations?

They call me all day at work, in the evening and throughout the weekend at home. I used to give them money via mail soliciationa and I used to be a season ticket holder, too. I understand that only 50% of their budget is covered by ticket sales, but how much are they spending on telemarketers who won't leave messages?

I've received 3 calls in 3 days at work. All calls came in after I had gone home for the day. Left no message

Seattle Opera, like all other nonprofits, reaches out to patrons to fill the seats and raise money. They aren't a part of the Federal Do Not Call list (because they are a nonprofit), but they maintain their own internal 'do not call' list like other arts groups in the city. As a fundraiser I can tell you that no one gives money because someone left them a message; the field is all about conversations and relationship-building.
So if don't want to be called, by all means, pick up the phone and tell them that! Doesn't it seem that you are needlessly wasting energy griping about something online that you have the ability to change? No nonprofit wants to anger their patrons, so let them know that you don't want a phone call and move on with your life-

I get calls from them all the time. I don't think we're here just to complain about them, but to help inform others, like ourselves, who generally only answer the phone if a) We know who is on the other end, or b) They leave a message with a sound enough reason for us to call them back.
The days of picking up on the first ring went away about 20 years ago when answering machines came into existence. Now with Cell-phones, u can be called anywhere at anytime.
I've donated to the Opera several times and for many years, but if you'd really like to build that relationship, leaving a message won't hurt. I get more annoyed by people who call without leaving a message. With today's technology I can screen EVERY call immediately, depending on how busy I happen to be. I certainly don't need to be interupted while having drinks with friends or dining with a companion. I know you'll call back later, but isn't it simpler to just leave a message? I might be more inclined to pick up next time you call if I know you are first.

It's Seattle Opera soliciting for donations for their annual fund.

Wow, Seattle Opera calling my cell phone. Despite calling them back and speaking to someone personally about removing my number from all call lists, they continue to call. Really REALLY irritating.

Seattle Opera has been calling my husband since June 2007. He refuses to pick up and tell them to stop calling, but he's curious to know how long they'll keep this up and 6+ months later, they're still calling 2x a week.
