Keep getting these calls all the time, even though I told them to stop calling me but when I answer they usually hang up on me. How can I stop them?

I've paid a huge amount,this is not fake.I sold my car to pay amount as i lost the case in the court house.Be AWARE.......!!!!!!!!!!

This call is from Legal dept of Investigation which 206-801-1004, because have just cleared his debt of $455 and received legal papers for same.

I received a voice mail from this strangely accented guy, he tells me I have 3 different criminal charges against me.. he says his name is Alfred.  Very mean and used very vulgar language.  Tells me I owe money to Cash advance and I have never had a payday loan.  Going to call the BBB and file a complaint....

Received a call from a Steven Douglas, whom could hardly speak english. He claimed to be from the BCI, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, even gave me a case number. He did have info that no one should know, but myself, and that was extremely scarey. He made some serious threats against me, something about a Pay Day Loan that I never paid back. This is a bunch of crap! I have received no money from any Pay Day Loan, and can verify that with my bank statements. After doing some research regarding the BCI, I've found that the BCI does NOT call people and ask to settle any financial claims. "Steven" even asked me for my last 3 bank statements so he could confirm that I really never received this money. He made threats, which again, the BCI would never do. We, as Americans, have rights protecting us from such threats made by any governmental agency. "Steven", your days are numbered until YOUR CAUGHT making such malicious threats. I HOPE "YOU" HAVE A GOOD ATTORNEY, YOUR GOING TO NEED ONE!

Well it all started when I got a phone call back in October stating that I owed 30,000 dollars on a loan taken out in California!!! Mind u I live in Texas!!! After that I continued to get phone calls twice a day.  It stopped for awhile some reason I guess it's bc they swindled enough people out of their money they feel like they don't have to harass anyone for awhile. But what really pisses me off more than anything is that when I say in done talking I mean I'm done and they're still talking. Then I hang up they call back and then I have to really get nasty and mean to them. I'm actually going to report this to CNN. It's terrible that our country is going through a terrible financial crisis.  People can't afford food shelter clothing people are jobless and these crooks come from another country and steal and lie and don't even give a damn that some people don't have a pot to piss in. They need to go back to where the hell they came from.  I mean they could be terrorist stealing money to fund another terror plot or something. Some one needs to bust them down real quick.  Oh FYI everyone if u get on google and search this phone number it will give u the location in seattle where they are calling from.  It will show u the latitude and the longitude.

I got a message from this number this morning and have no idea what it's about. It was not a very nice message... and besides, the person was not from this country and I could not really understand it all.

This company is a scam, they contacted my client via email and phone.  There is no such thing as a "United State Department of Treasury" it is the United States....  Also, government emails do not come from .com, they are .gov.

Unfortunately these people have figured out that regular folks are scared and will pay because they think this is real.  With the poor economy, debt collectors have become desperate and are trying different tricks to collect. They themselves are breaking laws and then disappearing into the shadows by shutting down,  moving, and reopening under a new name when the law comes for them.

Remember:
1. You are not responsible to pay the debts of a deceased family member.
2. The U.S. government does not arrest people for failure to pay non-tax/government related debts.
3. You cannot be arrested for not paying a debt - only for violating a criminal law.

I just received a call from this number...asked for me by my first and last name.  I did not recognize the number.  I asked him to identify himself and he just kept asking to speak to Suzanne.  I hung up and immediately googled this number...my feeling was right...it is a SCAM.

This company called me from an old cell # my mom had.  The man had a very heavy accent voice, I could hardly understand what he was saying, but stated he is the Attorney General and that he was going to file a case against my credit and ss#.  Stated I had a debt with Cash Advance USA.  I have never received any money from such company.

Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors

This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
?    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
?    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
?    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
?    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

This phone number has called my shop up to 10 times a day, looking for an employee of mine who has a debt, I assume. He threatens ME that I will have to go to court. They have given 4 different names ( one being John Smith, with his HEAVY accent) . Once he said he was from the Dept of Treasury. These calls are very illegal, and I am trying to run a business that has NOTHING to do with whatever debt a part time employee may have.

Not all the number listed on the threads are fake, some times we believe that we have received fake calls to grab our money, but there are few calls coming from Legal dept also. 206-801-1004 is not a fake number, because one of my friend has just cleared his debt of $634 and received legal papers for same.
