As a member of this community, I was more than happy to donate to the
Fraternal Order of Police. They are our civil servants, and it's the least
we can do
Mike 2011-06-06 20:42:21 Unknown
It was a quick call. And they were polite.
Emily 2011-06-06 20:42:21 Unknown
They were very nice! I can't afford much and that was fine with them. I agree about helping the Police. It does go to a good cause
Judy 2011-06-06 20:42:21 Unknown
This is scam. I called back to the 1-877-xxx-xxxx number and got the Utah address and Kirkland P.O. Box. I called the local no-emergency police and they help me locate the utah address. The address is residential/commercial address in Utah. Do not contribute to them.

I have been called by this number twice now. 1st time was over a week ago.
Both times no one talks and just hangs up.

I thought the same thing as Emma...I got really upset but then I asked to speak to a manager, she came on and was very nice. I was able to understand more of what they were doing. And like Emma, they were happy to accept my small donation. I know they are not a scam.

I got a call this morning and they said they were calling for the Fraternal
Order of Police. They were soliciting money, BUT....I am glad they called.
They were very polite and I was surprised at how accommodating they were. I
told them I couldn't to a large amount and they were happy to accept the
small $10 I was able to donate. I know this money will go to good use.

Two years ago, they were a "vietnam veteran's" drug education program. They would ask for my wife by name (sorry, not here) and they would call back over-and-over again until I got nasty with them. Last year, they were a "fire-fighter's memorial." They called twice daily (according to my CID logs on the computer) until I told her she was dead (she's not.) Now they are either the POLICE MEM FND or the FOP MEM FOUND and have called at least two-dozen times since April from 425-437-0640 360-547-1900 253-275-3600 206-866-1920 206-682-0415 with those IDs. Today, they asked for my wife, I asked who was calling, they said the FOP Memorial Fund. I told him we seem to get a lot of calls from different memorial funds. He said if she wasn't there he could call again later. I said, no, tell me more about your organization. Do you have a website? He said, that's ok sir, have a nice evening. (CLICK) S-C-A-M-! But if you found this site, you already suspected such.

I have answered this number twice in the last three months: once they said this was for the Seattle Police Fund and the other touted the Seattle Fire Dept - both seeking donations. Scam, scam, scam!! Said I was not interested and hung up. Why do I continue to get unsolicited calls like this when my phone is on the "do not call" list?
Scoobydooby 2009-05-26 15:51:41 Unknown
My daughter answered and they asked "what are you doing" and then hung up. Thank goodness for calleid.

Got a call recently too from these goons. I've heard enough over the years about cons using the phone to get money for supposedly noble causes. Decided to turn the tables @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/skagitims/sets/72157618636272574/detail/

They were polite and it was a short call
Jim 2009-05-22 00:53:04 Unknown
Got call while at work and they didn't leave a message. Gonna open a beer & call them and ask whoever answers if they're the one who makes the long distance descisions in their family. You can have some fun with these guys.
not a real person 2009-05-21 20:52:50 Unknown
This seemed like a very well done attack-dialer with voice response system. The voice sounded like a real person, but the responses to my answers were inappropriate. My number is on the do-not-call list, and I think this is just another "charity" scam.
phone frustration 2009-05-21 19:56:49 Unknown
I should say MY number is on the "do not call list".
phone frustration 2009-05-21 19:55:54 Unknown
I just checked my phone and saw I had two calls earlier from this number. I did not pick up and they did not leave a message. I am glad I missed it, as I have a "pay as you go" phone so every scam call costs me money. BTW, this number is on the "do not call" list. How do we get the FTC or somebody to investigate and prosecute more aggressively?
DJ 2009-05-21 03:48:24 Unknown
Could be one of those charity scams. ID shows POLICE MEM FND. (police memorial fund)
