The only calls that are not covered by the National Do Not Call List are: political organizations, charities, phone surveyors, and any company that you have established a business relationship with by placing an order through said company or by other means.

Telemarketers are responsible for removing your phone number from their calling lists within 31 days of you registering your number on the DNC List.

The National Do Not Call Registry applies to any plan, program, or campaign to sell goods or services through interstate phone calls. This includes telemarketers who solicit consumers, often on behalf of third party sellers. It also includes sellers who provide, offer to provide, or arrange to provide goods or services to consumers in exchange for payment.

Businesses can access the National DNC online at www.telemarketing.donotcall.gov

This is taken directly from the National Do Not Call List website:
https://www.donotcall.gov/faq/faqbusiness.aspx#how
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
How will the National Do Not Call Registry work?

Starting January 1, 2005, telemarketers and sellers will be required to search the registry at least once every 31 days and drop from their call lists the phone numbers of consumers who have registered. Through December 31, 2004, telemarketers will have to update their lists every three months. The dedicated, fully automated and secure Web site at www.telemarketing.donotcall.gov will provide this information to telemarketers and sellers.

When an organization accesses the system for the first time, it will have to create a profile and provide some identifying information, such as organization name and address, authorized representative, and the representative's telephone number and email address. If an organization is accessing the registry on behalf of a client-seller, the organization may need to identify the client (or clients).

The only consumer information organizations will be able to access from the national registry is a registrant's telephone number. Consumers' phone numbers will be sorted and available by area code. Each organization accessing the registry data will be required to pay an annual fee based on the number of area codes the company accesses.

On subsequent visits to www.telemarketing.donotcall.gov, organizations will be able to download either a complete updated list of numbers from their selected area codes or a more limited list that shows additions or deletions since the last download.

A consumer who receives a telemarketing call despite being on the registry will be able to file a complaint with the FTC, either online or by calling a toll-free number. Violators could be fined up to $11,000 per incident.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think this is pretty clear and as far as I'm concerned soliciters have no excuse to call people who have taken the time to register.  If companies are wasting their money to buy lists with numbers that are registered on the DNC and call them I personally have no problem filing a complaint and hope they get charged the maximum amout of $11,000 every single time.

Erin,
what you need to realize is that, there are marketing companies that have access to your phone number(s). These companies buy and sell telephone numbers everyday. Companies such as LeverageMyDebt may be using one of those marketing companies in order to get new leads. Several companies use these maketing companies to do this. I agree that the calls are very annoying and to give u some information to hold on to....A live person you may talk to can take you off their companies phone list but not off the Big company that is sending out your number

To Tiffany:
1. You're calling people on a DO NOT CALL list.
2. When people ask you for a number where they can call you back, which
any LEGITIMATE company would provide when asked, you refuse to provide
one and simply tell people you'll call them back.
3. You call with a different scam every week. Sometimes you call claiming
you can lower interest on credit cards. Sometimes you call and say
you can extend the warranty on people's car. Sometimes you ask for
donations for cancer patients. Sometimes you offer free vacations.
  Ect, ect.
4. When people tell you they don't have credit cards your customer
service reps either simply hangup, or first use rude language then
  hangup.
5. You're calling people on their cell phones, which is ILLEGAL!
6. When someone tries to call back some of the numbers you call from,
  they are DISCONNECTED!
7. In other cases the numbers that you call from that appear on people's
caller id, are infact caller id spoofs of people's private unlisted
  home numbers. EX: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-000-000-0003, if
you read the second post on the above link there is a very upset
person who is getting harrassed because YOU are calling people and
using HIS number on the caller ID. He has taken it to the point where
he has started a blog on http//www.calleridfraud.info .

I could go on and on and you have the nerve to come on to this board and say you can help! All you're trying to do is steal people's information you can cheat them out their money. That's it. You're running a fraud, and if I can spread the word to as many people as I can, I will.

Telemarketer
Caller offered a FREE CRUISE for 4 adults in the Bahamas if you purchased a Florida vacation package at a 75% savings of $700. for one week for four  people. Later I was informed you must attend a 60-90 minute time-share presentation. I was interested, but wanted to learn more. I was given the website: allaboutu-vacations.com, but was told I must make a deposit with a credit card NOW to retain the opportunity for this great promotional offer. At that point I said "NO" and I'm glad I did because I have only found complaints about this company as scam artists! I too am registered on "no call" list

I work for this company in Orlando, Florida and yes I agree that the calls are annoying and you should be able to be taken off the call list, especially if you dont own any credit cards.
BUT our service is very very helpful and we have hundreds of thousands of people who give us great reviews after saving them money.
For anyone who reads this by "Erin" just know that she must not have anything better to do with her time than to run her mouth about a company she knows nothing about. If you guys need credit help out there give us a call!!! Tiffany

This is what I've gathered so far by looking at the websites that pertain to these scams. Just so we're clear, I'm only reposting information from other posts I've seen regarding these scams. I've filed a complaint on the Do Not Call list website. The information to do that is posted below. If someone knows a better way to report this please take the information that I've posted here and any additional information that I might have missed and include it with the report. I will be posting this message on all the websites I can find that have to do with this scam and as I find more information I will add it to the post so it won?t necessarily be exactly the same each time. As far as I?m concerned you can copy and paste this on another site to warn others.
I just saw that someone posted info on reporting this to the FCC and also suing these people for each call they make to you. I?m going to try this out. I?m not a sue happy individual. But these people are running a scam and if people are falling for it, then they are stealing money from people. So I don?t mind doing what it takes to shut them down and screwing them in the process.

There are several phone numbers all of which give a message that they are disconnected if you call them back. On some of them the recording is an obvious fake:
1. 954-535-9912
2. 239-263-5860
3. 850-475-5122
4. 321-779-3962
5. 44-207-498-0741
6. 303-280-8689
7. 239-658-0747
8. 850-271-8240
9. 904-779-8982
10. 954-752-3816
11. 321-207-0023
12. 954-623-4620
13. 954-920-5550
14. 352-357-4151

These are the one's I've gathered so far, if there are any that you've gotten calls from that you don't see on this list, please post that info.
I just saw a post that states that there is a link you can go to and record your own phony ?This number is disconnected recording? so that pretty much answers how they did that. Here?s the link: www.payphone-directory.org/sounds.html

That some or all the numbers are possibly listed with Bell South and an e-mail can be sent to Bell South regarding this to info@connectbellsouth.com .

The people who call go by several names:
1. Heather
2. Shantel
3. Jessica
4. Jerry (a female)
5. Angel (also female)
6. Thomas Ellis
7. Dana
Again these are the one's I've collected. If anyone has recieved one of these calls from someone giving a name different than the one's above on the list please post it.

They are running at least 3 different scams:
1. Offering to lower APR on credit card
2. Offering to extend car warranty
3. Offering free vacations
Same as above if you got a call with a different scam please list it.

They are claiming to be from different companies (I cannot say for sure if these companies are actually affiliated with these scams or not):

1. Southern Warranty Trust

Here?s an e-mail address for a woman who calls herself ?sue? and claims that she will teach you how to sue these people for a fee. suetelemarketers@yahoo.com I provide this for informational purposes only. I personally wouldn?t go this route and would advise others to be wary of this, it sounds like another scam.

Also, I do not want to take credit for other?s people?s information.
