I was called by  1 207 939 6988 this is a number that called me 9.times in 38 minutes.I automaticlly put it on
the auto reject. I dont knowfe anyone there. I came to 207 area code & saw all these people blogging about
this problem. I posted.a.new number they ae using.Look at number and dont accept like I did. There low lives whos mothers s****ed them out.They  know it also !  :-)

I suspect that this is part of a skip trace scheme.  An attempt to find people who don't want to be found.  It is probably a redirected VoIP call with the ANI programmed to display this UK number to picque everyones interest so they'll answer the phone.  

Until this month a collection agency called my number everyday for over a year trying to collect a debt from someone else with the same last name as me.  The calls stopped a couple weeks ago after repeatedly reporting the company for no-call violations and now I get calls from this number.

Beware any personal info that you may give to the people who call from this number.  There is no effective international juristdiction for identity theft.

I've only gotten calls from this number twice in a week so far.  They don't leave a message and I don't answer.

I got called on my Czech mobile phone twice today. Time of the second call was 10:44 (9:44 London time). I have not accepted the call.

they called me twice today 6 .00 p.m. London time.  No voice and I've not replied back. I wander how do they got mu number. I've passed quickly through a London airport Luton on friday 24th. maybe they are tackking number from a reley as I've not called anyone in Great Britain from my mobile phone.

I thought that maybe it's gateway of some VoIP provider but now when I found that posts, I think is impossible..

Multiple calls in the last two weeks. No messages left. Thanks to all of you who have reported calls are coming from UK. That doesn't make the calls stop, though, and doesn't it put the caller out of range of the FCC?

Thanks, Hannah, for this info. Caller ID doesn't tell what the 44 means and I believe 207 is a valid US area code. Not picking up the phone, or screening calls through your answering machine, is not the solution. You must convince the caller that your number has been disconnected. Find a way to do that.

I've had calls from them, and I heard my OWN voice say hello when I answered -- it sounded like a recording of what I'd just said, followed by dead air.  Other companies do this from time to time, too.  Perhaps they're trying to find out when people are at home, or even (surely this isn't legal) taping answerers' voices to use in market research or something?  In any case, I'm extremely sick of being called by machines and salespeople at all hours of the day.

Hasn't anyone thought of reporting these calls to their local carrier?   They are obviously computer generated, from the UK (country code 44) and central London (207) ...
they are starting to get on my nerves.   Just keep reporting to your local carrier ....

We have been getting up to 5 calls a day for the last 3 weeks.  We answer the phone and there is no response; within seconds they hang up.  Needless to say that this is quite annoying.

We have been getting calls from this number for the past few weeks. When you pick up, no one is there. No Caller ID name.

When picked up last night at around 8:30pm eastern time, the caller hungup. I was speaking to someone a few months ago in Scotland with the same country code of 44, so I am not sure if it's him through a phone service over there.

Audix or Audex is a centralized voicemail system which some phone companies use for their customers. I just found this out now since I've been getting the same calls and respones you have. Why the system is  dialing out is beyond me, and I'm trying to locate phone companies in the area code 207 that utilize this system to provide answers. Perhaps someone can try this lead and post some answer.

They call once or twice a day, and there's no one there when I pick up.  Once I briefly heard a female "Hello".  
If I let the machine pick it up there's never a message.
My son called back once and heard a message from "Audix".

This number *sometimes* comes up with the 44 prefix (london) mentioned above, but not always.  Calls all the time.  Haven't notice any changes in my phone bill.  Not answering does not seem to stop them from calling.

I did talk to someone on the phone and it was some kind of organisation and they told me that I gave a donation in 2006 which is a big lie.

They've called 37 times in the past three weeks, and yes, it's an international caller ID (though my phone shows just 207-646-4200, Vonage records show the call originates from Central London, as others have said). Only twice has there been someone on the other end, and those times, the person asked for someone who hasn't had this number in five years. The caller said she was asking for donations for a "Jewish relief fund," and said though she could take me off of her list, I would probably get calls from others because she worked for a huge call center. Great.

This number, preceeded by 44, is in Central London.
Without the 44, its a motel in Maine!   They call exactly the same time every day (9:30 am EST = 2:30 pm London time).
They are not listed in UK reverse telephone lookup.
Don't answer.   Eventually they'll remove your number. (I receive calls from family in UK constantly, and 44 is country code, 207 Central London code).

same thing here, starting july 19, 2007 and continuing to august 2 - this and several other numbers, just for the record.  the phone company indicated that 207 is from maine, i have not verified.  but the calls are repeated.

the number that keeps calling is in London England. it is 011 44 20 7676 4200... Can anyone trace this number ? I'm in the USA and can't figure out how to trace a UK number..

We keep getting calls from this number 207-676-4200 as soon as we pick up they hang up.

I get several hang up calls a day from this #. When I return the call,  it welcomes me to "audex" or "audix" and requests an extension and a password.Haven't received a bill yet.

This number calls repeatedly throughout the day and then when you pick up no one responds. Later when you get the phone bill, you get charges from other states for .10 cents ea.
