Scammers call me at work, I quit trying to argue with them and just stopped answering. They follow zero laws-this "debt" I owe is not legit to begin with, I filed bankruptcy so it wouldn't be collectible even it were legit, they threaten illegally, they don't cease and desist per federal law. They called me yesterday I didn't catch the call. They left a message I just tried calling back because of the vmail that was left. Any help on wheter I should respond.  I mean it does sound scary and I've seen some the the responses but no one actually said they spoke with the lady calling. Please give advise

This scam has been around for years; don't answer, don't call back.  These bottom feeding scumsuckers buy old debt for pennies on the dollar (most always past the Statute of Limitations too) and try to collect on it.  No, they're not coming to get you anywhere!. First of all, they don't warn you ahead of time, and second of all debit is a civil matter, not criminal.  These people HOPE to scare somebody into paying them.  DON'T DO IT!!!

I had the same number call me today on my mother in laws phone stating the same exact thing. Is this a scam?  I serious dont think that if charges in my county were to come against me it would hardly come from Maine.

I just had the same call. They also called my job and my brother?!?!.  I have no clue. Do you have any ideas?

I also received the same call 30 minutes ago no company was left there would be a person talking and then a recording with come on saying that I head to fraudulent charges tied to my name and my social security number and then I need to contact a number that I would be receiving paperwork in the mail either at my home or at my job does anyone know about this

I received the same call today where my name, etc. was provided by recording. This does seem very strange...

This number called today, I didn't answer so a voicemail was left.  The lady stated that I had two 'charges' that were being filed against me 'within my county' and also stated she was from the 'Process and Summons Division' and that 'fraudulent activity attached to my name and SS #' had been detected.

She also said I need to call a number to be filled in about my rights before charges will be filed against me.  If I do not call before my summons arrives, I will supposedly lose 'all my rights'.

The other odd thing, when it stated my name, it was a recording, when it stated my supposed account number, it was a recording.  She would stop talking and let a recording play.

Any thoughts on who this could be?  No company name was left.
