About the Bureau of Consumer Protection
David Vladeck, Director
If you exercise your right to receive a free credit report, use the National Do Not Call Registry to block unwanted telemarketing calls, or refer to product warranties, care labels in your clothes, or stickers showing the energy costs of home appliances, you are taking advantage of laws enforced by the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection.
The Bureau of Consumer Protection works to protect consumers against unfair, deceptive, or fraudulent practices in the marketplace. The Bureau conducts investigations, sues companies and people who violate the law, develops rules to protect consumers, and educates consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities. The Bureau also collects complaints about consumer fraud and identity theft and makes them available to law enforcement agencies across the country.
(In keeping with the integrity of the information on the www.ftc.com website I have copied and pasted the paragraph above. It is helpful to know that there are consumer resources out there and this is definately one of them).

Please submit your complaints to the FTC. They will log your complaint into a secure online database available to thousands of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies worldwide. This will give the FTC legroom to work with if this company is caught and brought to justice. When a complaint is filed, it assists the FTC in detecting patterns of wrong-doing, which leads to investigation and prosecution. All complaints are given a number. And are entered. https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ How much personal information you choose to provide is up to you. (I have copied much of the wording directly from the website in the above paragraph in keeping with the integrity of the information shared on website).

recorded msg about selling my gold - pressed 1 for "customer support" - I asked for their address and when he asked my why I told him I needed it for the complaint I would be filing with the Texas Attorney General since they called my work number. He hung up.

Just got a call from these guys (07/15, 9:40) but nobody spoke, probably a robocall with no operator to pick it up. Called back and was answered by an automated service saying "to be removed from the list please press 1"

Recorded message from "Kate" at "The Gold Zone". Press 1 to sell your gold. I pressed 1 to demand why two days in a row Maine telemarketers have called my home. Got a stunned little girl named Alyssa who seemed genuinely confused as to why I wouldn't want random sales calls at my home. She stammered that she'd put my name on the do not call list and hung up. I ALMOST feel bad.

I got a call from that number today...when I held the line to tell them to remove my number it hung up...what can they gain from not having a way to 'accept' their call...get you removed from the list...or leave a message...
I am on the federal do not call list but today I have received three calls...one was from 262-995-9703 for some sort of 'dish network'...

207-766-7602 just called my work line. The message said it was something for gold for cash. Press 1 to speak to someone, and 9 to be taken off the list. I clicked #9 and they hung up. Drat. Was hoping to have someone answer and have some 'fun' with 'em.

This was an automated phone call, the message was to Press 1 and receive more information about selling your old gold jewelry. I pressed 9 to be removed. Yesterday it was a called about refinancing your mortgage...again I pressed 9. This is becoming a daily hassle and since they are calling my office number I have to pick up the line...!
