We received the same thing. This exact customer trying to ship to Sweden. I think what they do is they charge someone else's credit card and then have our company pay the freight company (which is them). They get the cash and no one is the wiser. In our case, they have given us numerous credit cards and no have worked. Ask for cash in advance.

Called on a Sunday morning. Didn't answer.  They didn't leave a message.

My wife answered the first time and said that she was not interested.  After that they called again 15 minutes later.  Didn't answer.  They didn't leave a message.

I just got this same one!

Tom Lennox (tlennox2g1@gmail.com) just sent us an e-mail looking for a motor. I guarantee I could give him any price and he "will like to make order" of three since he isn't paying for them. I am sure he "wants to be an honest customer" like some of the other e-mails we've received before. These scams might work on a larger company that works internationally and might overlook the obvious to make a large sale. Maybe, they target smaller companies though, hoping that the excitement of a large order will work the same way.

Here is how the "PayPal Scam" or any other "online money service" scam works:

Says they will buy the item and will pay extra to cover charges by his shipping agent.
Says he will PayPal the funds and instruct you to send the extra money via wire transfer or pre-paid card to the agent.
He then sends you a fake PayPal deposit notice email, spoofing the official PayPal notice, that says the money has been put into your account.
You, thinking PayPal has your money, go ahead with the wire/prepaid transfer to the shipping agent, who is really the scammer.
After that, you then find out there was no money transferred to PayPal and are out the money your wired.


Here is how a "Craigslist Scam" or any other "I will send you a check for more than you asked" scam works:

He pays for the item + extra funds to cover his shipping agent costs with a bank draft or cashiers check.
He sends you a check, tells you to cash it and send the extra money to his shipping agent via wire transfer or prepaid card.
You cash/deposit check and wire/prepaid the funds to the agent.
Later, the check bounces as it was counterfeit. The money you sent to the agent, who is really the scammer, is unrecoverable due to it being wire transferred/prepaid card.
You are out money and now run the risk of being arrested for passing a counterfeit check.

I had an e-mail inquiry who suggested to use the same freight company. They wanted to pay with credit card and have it shipped to South America. I contacted the company that he claimed to be with and they told me I wasn't the first to contact them about this scam. I actually spoke with the scam artist, who sounded like he was on an international phone. He used an address in a town close to the business, but the road for the address he gave me did not even exist. I actually pretended to go through with the order and even took a credit card number, which did not belong to him although he gave me wrong information connected to the card. I contacted the card company, so the cardholder could cancel the card. After a few days, the scam artist e-mailed me with an angry response wanting the shipping information. Just be aware that the e-mails are usually in really bad broken english and the item they are looking for usually has what seems to be copy and paste specs. Also, after you respond, they increase the quantity they are looking for, likely to spike your interest in the order.

In the one instance that I went through the quoting process with a similar name, these scams are usually connected to a real business and a real credit card - neither of which belong to the person you are in contact with. Even if you get credit card payment, it will likely be cancelled by the cardholder. The only safe way to complete these sketchy transactions is to accept check payment, which I'm sure could still be a risk. Just be safe with the e-mail buyers for your sake and the sake of the cardholder.

Ya I received the same Tom Lennox V&E construction email also.  He wanted to take 20 rolls of #160 chain.
Guess he was planning on decorating his small office in San Francisco.
415 325 2158 does not answer their phone either.

I got one here too.

He want to change my order to 10 pieces too.   I was immediately skeptical when he wanted to place an order without pricing.

I recieved an email for "Tom Lennox" (tlennox2g1@gmail.com) on July 8, 2013 wanting a price for a piece of 8"sch40 S/S pipe 48" long. After I emailed the price to him, he decided to change the order to 10 pieces instead of just one, price did not seem to be an issue. I asked for contact information, this is what I received:
