Hi all.  This a scam number.  This is the new game from the Nigerian scammers.  Your info is pulled from websites that are either fake or have been hacked by a virus from your computer (key loggers).   They range from a simple they have your name, to a frightening they have your name, SSN, home address, bank name with acct numbers, and they will call you at work as well as calling your relatives trying to scare them too.  This happened to my wife about 10 days ago and she panicked.  The police and Wells Fargo told her about the scam, and we were stunned that they have access to this info.  These people don't live in some mud hut in the desert, sorry for the stereotype, but the large money operations have very good, very modern, computer operations.  Typical ruse happens like this.  They call you and you don't answer.  Phone i.d. tells you it is either 951-263-2529 (Steven Wright with ACLS) or maybe 209-790-3768 (Stevens Law Firm).  THESE ARE THE #'S THAT CALLED MY WIFE.  There are many more numbers though.  You call back and you now think you are talking to a law firm, and there must be a problem.  You are told the loan, or unpaid taxes, or whatever, are being handled by them, and the fines and fees, as well as the lawsuit filed against your SSN (which cannot happen) will cost you $8,000 for example.  You checked out the phone number before you called back and see that it is in California, so when they tell you that you have to be at the "courthouse in Los Angeles Room 117 at 11:30 am tomorrow morning or you will be arrested" is plausible.  You are told that you will be sent to jail, lose your job, home and who knows what else.  You really panic now because you live in, say Naperville, Illinois.  The mind reels, you start thinking it's 3 pm and I have to be in Los Angeles tomorrow morning.  How do I pull that off???  **But if I don't I will lose my job, house and will go to jail.  Now you really really panic!**  By the way the guy you have been talking to has grown threatening.  Then he has a solution... just pay him and the lawsuit will be canceled.  This is stupid I know, but your world has been turned upside down in about 5 minutes.  $8,000 will hurt, but at least I won't go to jail.  Now your attention focuses on getting them the money in the next 3 hours because they are closing for the day.  If you don?t kiss your life goodbye.  You move heaven and earth to complete this task and are assured that he will call you in the morning with the confirmation number and receipt information.  It doesn?t dawn on you until later that the firm only accepted Western Union, but whatever, you are safe, still have a job and house.  Of course you never get the call from them and panic the next day too, and maybe for the next couple of days.  You make a few phone calls, and get the ?I have no idea what you are talking about ? from the bank and the IRS.  And then it dawns on you... Thankfully we called the police first, and they told us to call the bank next.  This is very common, but not talked about because it is embarrassing.  This works because any story can be substituted within the same framework.  The police told us that they had a call 3 days earlier from a terrified 73 year old lady that was going to lose her house!!!  They will prey on anyone.  There are things to try if you are bold.  First, always use *67 or the equivalent to hide your number.  Call the above numbers or others if you hear of them.  Do not give them any personal info.  DO NOT give them a random series of numbers when they ask for your SSN.  You could hurt someone else, or get in a lot of trouble.  ?I?m not going to give you that over the phone? will suffice.  We know the game and it?s our turn remember.  They are desperate to get your money so they will try different ways.  Also we were told by the police that these numbers that are calling from California are actually phone banks based in California using VoIP.  The officer would only say there is a lawsuit from the Justice Department that has been filed in connection with Magic Jack.  That?s it in a nutshell.  Sorry for the length, but if this helps someone it?s worth it.

I got a call from this number today, I didnt answer my phone in time and a man with a middle eastern accent left me a very threatening message! I called him back and he answered telling me I was being indicted on criminal charges for an unlawful loan in California! I have never been to california nor have I ever had a loan or credit card! He had my e-mail, my name, an address I had never heard of, wrong DOB, and last 4 of my social!!!! He tells me I am supposed to be in superior court Sept 30th 2011~ I freaked out on the guy and called his # back probably 1,000 times to freak out on him because I knew it was a hoax and he just wanted all the right info. Then I had my mother call the # back and she acted as though she was scared and he attempted to get all of the correct info! Then my mother told him he has been on the phone long enough now and that my husband was a Fed and he hung up on both of us MANY times, he is a scam artist attempting to collect money from you and personal info to take out money ect in your name and identity. He was very threatening until I threatened him- he would not give me the name of this law firm or his name which at that time is when I called his bluff. He will no longer answer the phone or will pick up and hang up- Each case needs to be reported to FBI as I will be doing tomorrow. Just a heads up!

just got a call from these people 209-790-3768 for some random loan that i never took out and he was going on and on this is the 5th i have received a call from them and once i told them i contacted the police and A.G. office they hung up. I hear from them ever 3 to 4 months. I guess I will receive a call in a few months again. Biggest Scam ever he told me the American Goverment doesnt scare him that we cant do anything to him

SO I'VE BEEN RECEIVING THESE PHONE CALLS FROM A LAW FIRM TELLING ME THAT THEY ARE REPRESENTING A COMPANY THAT IS SUING ME FOR A UNPAID LOAN.THEY CALLED MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT TODAY AND REALLY PISSED ME OFF.I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY GOT MY INFO BUT I WOULD LUV TO KNOW.THE GUY SAID HIS NAME WAS CRAIG WILLIAMS AND HE HAD A VERY STRONG ACCENT LIKE HE MAY BE FROM INDIA.HE WENT AS FAR AS TELLING ME THAT I WOULD LOSE MY JOB AND DO JAIL TIME.I GOT VERY FRUSTRATED AND TOLD HIM THAT I WAS GOING TO REPORT THEIR COMPANY.I GUESS HE FINALLY SAW THAT HE WASN'T GETTING THROUGH TO ME AND JUST HUNG UP AND THAT'S WHEN I GOGGLED THIS #209-790-3768 AND SAW ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS AGAINST THESE PEOPLE.IT'S SO SCARY HOW PEOPLE CAN HACK INTO COMPUTERS AND STILL YOUR INFO THESE DAYS NOTHING IS PRIVATE ANYMORE.

This guy just called my supervisor with the same sort of message. I have no idea how he got the number.  As you all said, I could barely understand him in his message.  I see all of these and I am not so worried anymore. Don't people have anything better to do than call threatening people....seriously!

I received the VERY SAME call on Fri, he also had a foreign accent from this 209-790-3761 saying I owe over $800 on a $400 loan, knew the last four of my social and my work place and address!! I was scared until I saw these post from you all!! He said that he would have me subpoenad by the sheriff at my job and threatened me every which way possible. I was so confused b/c I hadn't gotten a loan for $400 and I kept asking what company and he said from an online payday loan source, then he said I was a victim of identity theft!! I was convinced!! He said he was looking at my credit report and everything but I knew he was lying because I told him I had just recieved an update of my credit report two days prior and he had to have been wrong, but he was adament about me owing money. Then he said he would give me the number to a lawyer, I hung up on him. It scared me so I called back asking for the number to a lawyer he could refer me to, the guy who answered the phone SAID HE WAS A LAWYER!!! So I hung up and said f*** it, if i'ma get subpoenad then so be it!

I also received harrassing calls from this man claiming his name is Mike from this 209-790-3768 stating that I owe some money. When I asked company name he claim to be a law firm.  I could barely understand his English.  I hung up and he begin to leave threaten calls like the authorities will be at my residence and I will be locked up for 90 days he has my social # etc. I called back and ask to speak to supervisor and they hung up on me I cont. to call back he called me a bi*** I told him I was gone sue him and make a police report for his calls and threaten voice messages.

I got a call From the same guy stated I owe him and stated that now I owe him $8000 now for a loan of $300 that I have no clue what the hell he's talking about. He would not let me speak to a manager now he will not answer the phone

This foreign accented guy keeps calling from 209-790-376 claiming that if I didn't resolve some kind of loan that "legal action" was going to be taken. I told him that I could barely understand him, and told him not to call back. He called back again so I said you have the wrong number and he then had the nerve to say "what is your name then," and "who are you." I told him that I did not have to answer his questions. Honestly I have unplugged my phone. He left 5 messages yesterday. I have a block feature on my phone though so I am going to program the number.

This number has been calling me nonstop for a week they're from India but claim to be from California and usually try to impersonate someone who's American and if you push them and ask the for their mailing address or manager they've got nothing. Today they went over the line when they harassed my mother, I'll never apply for a loan online again, these people are criminals pure and simple.

I received a call this evening about a loan that I never received. The guy threated to sue me and knew my bank name and other information.. I couldn't understand the company name.He was not american.A Foreign accent that u couldn't understand.wanted me to talk to his lawyer and another guy came on the phone u could understand him a little .told him i never got a loan and then he said prove it. This happened this evening (September 13,2011) at 6:29p.m. It showed the number 209-790-3768 Ione ca.

This guy has called before, claiming I owe on an unpaid loan, threatened action against me, etc..  He has harassed my sister and my mother as well.  Foreign accent, changes his name frequently.  I have had many shouting matches with him on the phone, then got so frustrated I called the FTC.  The calls stopped for about 2 months, and have started back up again.
