why are these people calling me

Never leaves a message, line is always busy when you call it back. Keeps calling several times in a day.

Stated that they are calling from Social Security Office and that I am entitled to receive $500 direct deposit per month. Attempted to phish for account numbers and other information

this number has been used by several men that claim to be business owners working in africa....sooner or later they come up with a sad sob story about how they need money because they dont have enough cash.They all use the same number and it is nothing but a group of scammers.

a man claiming to be from the U.S Federal Grant Department called from a number that only showed 102 and said I was being given back my tax money for a grant which could be direct deposited within 24hours if I just give him my routing and bank account number. when i asked for a business number to verify his position, he couldn't produce one. i told him to stop calling and hung up the phone. the man then called back from a (210)892-0124. when i questioned him about the different number he ignored my question. he then told me he would transfer me to the u.s. bank so that i could speak with the person in charge of the direct deposit. he placed me on hold, and who answers??? the same man with the worst arabic accent in the world. the part that worries me is that they were able to tell me my information [[ssn. address. phone number. name]] which i had not given. i went to the police department and filed a report but there's little that can be done when we don't know which idiot is doing this. Just DON'T BE A DUMBY. DO NOT GIVE YOU BANK INFO. to anyone who can provide the information you need to verify their position. Get a name, business number, business address, and look it up on the internet before giving away personal info.

Missed his call yesterday.  Have called back several times but always busy signals so I googled it.  Now I know what is going on.

I got an idiot speaking in martianese or something telling me he worked for the U.S. Govt and that for promptly having paid my taxes I was to get $500 or so dollars deposited.  I told I was very excited and wanted my money but wanted CASH ONLY and stated All my family members relatives, etc... only had mattress money and no bank accounts.  The idiot got depressed and hung up once he realized he wasn´t getting a bank account number.

trying to get personal info says he is working for government anyone know who he is

Last called me on 3/31/08 at 6:39pm CST.  Why is there a National Do Not Call Registry?  They don't seem to have the desire or the resources to follow up on even 1% of these incidents.  Just my 2 cents.

I got a call from this number on 24Mar08 at 1600hrs and they told me that they were fromt the IRS Tax refund department and that they had done a survey of San Antonio and I had been picked to receive $200 a month for 6 months.  The man asked for my account number and my bank name (beware they can draft your account with this information, they don't need a routing number just your bank name) and like a dummy I gave it to him.  He sent me to the "computer lady" and she asked me many questions that required me to say yes. That is how they can call it a legal transaction to draft your account.  The phone number I was given was 1-866-620-5482 which is American Health Benefits.  It is some kind of "savings" program that charges God knows how much.  I only got charged $29.95, but that was just a processing fee.  I called and canceled it and they tried so hard to keep me in the program (because it is a rip off).  Please do not fall victim to this scam as I did, warn all of your friends and family to not answer if you see this number.  The IRS will never call and ask you for account information over the phone.  If you did not initiate it then it is a scam.  I do not want this to happen to anyone else.  I have looked up the other number and this company has taken up to $350 from other people.

I just remembered that a relative in Germany had tried to call me about the same time and date using a "dial around" number which saves a lot over the Deutsche Telekom rates.  These calls probably use VoIP computer to computer.  They may have more than one in different parts of the country to avoid long distance charges to the receiving phone.  Papo is probably right they could be from anywhere.

This number called my 210 area code cellphone five or six days ago.  I did not hear the ring.  No message was left.  Since I didn't know the number and it was unknown on the missed calls list I ignored it.

I'll be sure to ignore it in the future.

My husband has received 6 calls from this number on his cell phone, they never leave a message.  Today, his coworker answered the call and played along giving the caller a fake bank name and a fake account number, they said he would get $500.00 deposits for 6 months. Yeah-right.  After a while the coworker said he was taping the conversation and was going to turn it over to the Attorney General's office and the FBI.  The caller, a women, was not pleased.  I can't believe people are ignorant enough to fall for scams like this.

I just thought I'd let you know it's a phone card of some sort. My husband called me and this number came up on caller id. He's in Korea, but uses calling cards. That's why if you try to call back it comes up busy.

I receied two phone call tonight and to last night from 210-892-0124. Though it shows an area code from San Antonio, they call can be originated from anywhere in the world. If you get a VOIP (Voice Over the Internet Protocol), you can get a a number with any area code you like. I have VOIP and have the ability to either block the call, greet the call with a busy signal or send it directly to an automated answering system.

I got a call from this number at 6 in the morning! Everytime I call them back, it's busy....much like the experience you all have had.
They never left a voicemail so it makes me think it's unimportant. However, now that I have stumbled upon this page, part of me wonders who the hell it is calling me and why they won't leave a message and even more why is it continuously busy.

The caller is a man with a thick Indian accent.  He called me right before this and the caller id showed 052-388-933. ???  He knew my name and said that he could give me approximately $5000 in grant money.  I hung up on him.  He then called me back from this 210-892-0124 number.  When I answered, it was the same Indian man and he asked me in a very creepy way "why had a hung up on him".  I hung up again on him.  Gladly, he did not call back.  I tried calling back this number and it is always busy.

my mother is out of town and called me from this number she left a msg that is was an emergency and hang up i have called back and its busy all the time

210-892-0124 is a telemarketing company, you can report this number to the donotcall.gov website or obtain the 1800 number from the internet. all u do is register your number, if they call again after 30 days from ur register date u can file against them for telephone harrassment, this is a crime if they contact u from that day forward.

received a call from 210-0124 around 10am, tried calling this number several times and its busy. so i called the operator and she tells me the reason this line is always busy is because this residence is having problems with their phone line. hmmmmm....

I received a call from this number at 9:02 p.m on Oct. 5th. I kept trying to call it back but only got a busy signal...even at 2:11 a.m. When I answered the phone when the call came through, no one said anything. The call came through on my cell phone.

My parents got the same phone call from 210-892-0124 this morning. Sounds like the same scammer! A male with a thick Indian accent claiming to be from the Social Security Adm. needed the name of their bank and acct number to deposit money that was owed to them. After they told him they would not authorize anything, he became upset and started raising his voice. After hanging up on him, he called back asking who would reject "free money". They hung up again and HE CALLED BACK AGAIN! They are worried because he knew their names and address. Please advise YOUR parents NOT to give ANY personal information over the phone. I, personally, NEVER answer "UNKNOWN" callers!!
