*60, dial 3 to turn on (if you haven't already) then #01# press 1 for confirmation, and hang up when it says the number you have added is.

Don't want Privacy Manager calls, here is a little hack you can use:

You probally have this in your package:

SELECTIVE CALL FORWARDING

First dial *63 Selective Call Forwarding Service
Follow the instructions
Enter the number to which you want your calls forwarded to.
Enter 590-0010 or 210-590-0010

Press # followed by the phone number of Privacy Manager, and Take a Message (if applicable)

When someone tries to record their name so Privacy Manager can announce the call they won't ring through, instead they will get the message "Your Party is Unavailable, please try your call again later."

Alternatively you can use *60 Call block.

What does 590-0010 go to?  A recording that says the call you have made requires an initial deposit.

Back in the days Southwestern Bell Telephone would route calls to phone numbers for operator recordings for telephone subscribers in the FRATT exchange, the FRATT exchange serves Salado Creek and Austin Hwy to I-35 and the Universal City line, google wire center.  These recordings are still in tact, they start with 210-590-00xx.  Some have been assigned to customers, some haven't.

Southwestern Bell payphones in the FRATT exchange like the payphones once served by them on Thousand Oaks and Perrin Beitel Taco Cabana when a customer didn't deposit coins in the payphone, the payphone (instead of the computer generated message) would dial 210-590-0010, if the circuits were busy it would automatically dial another number 210-590-00xx, if a customer had to dial 1 first, then it would dial another 210-590-00xx number. I will post these on YouTube this week.  I stumbled across these when I was in High School and dialing BBS lines. The Worst Show BBS was my favorite that one was in the Culebra exchange 210-680-xxxx.

Just got a call marked Privacy Manager  When I picked up I had a message call I was instructed to call a number like 7727, but that number is too short to make any sense.

Called a couple of times on Sunday mornings.  The first time they called the caller ID said Privacy Manager.  The saecond time they called the caller ID said Take A Message.  No message was left either time they called.

Southwestern Bell has a new product designed to give San Antonio customers the option of preventing unwanted telephone calls.

The product, called Privacy Manager, works as an enhancement to a caller ID system and will give customers per-call control to accept or reject calls that come up on their caller ID display as unavailable or out of area.

The caller is given the choice of verbally identifying himself to the subscriber, unblocking caller information to pass through caller ID, or entering a code given by the subscriber.

Subscribers then have a choice of taking the call, ignoring the call, forwarding the call to an answering system or sending a prerecorded phone-solicitor rejection message.

Just received a call from 210-930-6827... Privacy Manager came up on my Caller ID. Picked up the phone got a dial tone. Called the number back... nothing. Hmm. Is there anything besides a Poetry Scam going on?

Call from "Privacy Manager"  210-930-6827  3:10pm on 10/14/08.  I googled this and found it to be a Poetry Slam website:  The name associated with this number is:  Benjamen Ortiz, San Antonio, Texas

Privacy manager is a service of the phone company.  If it is turned on (which it apparently was) then a caller receives a message to leave a name and number and you have the option to call back the party.  This is in effect if there is no caller ID listed, or is listed as PRIVATE, UNKNOWN, OUT OF AREA, NO PHONE # LISTED, ETC.  There must be a name attached to a legitimate phone # for it to allow the call to come thru.  IE: 201-555-5555 listed as John Smith will be allowed, 201-555-5555 listed as UNKNOWN will be asked to leave a number etc.
