This is another scam and they always change names. When you go in they ask for a headshot. Your headshot is never good enough for them. THEY WANT TO TAKE YOUR HEADSHOTS WITH THEM AND THEY HAVE TO MAKE COPIES FOR YOU! THE OFFICE IS SMELLS LIKE AN OLD ATTIC. TAKE MY ADVICE AND SAVE YOUR YOUR METRO FARE, PATH FARE AND GAS! I FELL FOR IT TWICE. ENOUGH SAID

Caller: M entertainment/Model talent network/ MAX entertainment

I got a call a few days ago for an audition probably from one of replies to some ad on craigslist, maybe it was the Law and order SVU posting. It is located on 244 W 35th st in room 206.
I went in the room and it looks very run down. There was a girl in the booth. She gave me a sheet to fill out. It almost seems legit.She buzzed me into another room, it was a small waiting room with movie posters on both sides of the wall and a small tv showing movie trailers on videocassette.
Another door at the other end was where the agent is.
I was waiting to take my turn to see the agent. 3 individuals, were before me, it was one at a time.
When I went into the office, the agent's name is Brad. He convinced me to buy a photography package that comes with 10 prints, database, cd, and website for $152.00
He showed me some of the guys he used for the prints on times square and I totally fell for it. He charged my credit card but before he did, he asked me if I had a debit card. I then signed a yellow piece of paper saying no refunds with my signature on it.
He told me to see this old guy in the other room that is the photographer and took some photos in different poses. Before that he told me to write me name and number on the little whiteboard.And also write my name on a small piece of paper with name, email address and phone number and give it to brad.
When I saw him he convinced me to do 8x10 prints for 2$ each recommended 50, or portfolio prints 3.75 each. I was hesitant and told him I'll think about it.
Then he urged me that I needed it for clients. I told him I dont have that much money. But I caved with 20 prints of the portfolio prints for $82.
He asked when I could come back to do the shoot for the portfolio prints. (basically a postcard print with 4 different pics on both sides)
I said Monday and he told me to bring some clothing. When I left the office, I felt uneasy and ripped off.
When I got home I checked online and there was a lot of bad info on this place. I never got the prints and couldn;t get my money from the credit card company.

Answered craigslist ad for extra work in NYC. The address this company gives is 224 w.35th street., room 206 or 216. They are a headshot scam. Many,many complaints about them. An Indian sounding guy and a black girl answers and makes calls. They also use the number 212.244.4483 and a few others. M entertainment is the latest name they use.

oh and when i called back it most likely was the notorious fast talking lady everyone is raving about and she greets the phone by just saying "M" they dont even bother with saying M entertainment so i guess their new name for the time being until further notice it "M"

this is good stuff...i knew it was impossible to find an opportunity such as this and get a call back within 24 hours...after reading the majority of these humorous posts im definitely not even attempting to step foot down there...shady business here!!!

FSASTT TALKINGGG BITCHHHH

i signed up on craiglist on saturday. 2-3 days ago. the next day i received a call from [212-268-8013] some deep voice dude telling me to come in right away at 2pm when it was already 1. i said no i'm busy today then he said okay then how about monday? i said uhh.. i have class on monday trying to reject the offer because i don't want to do it anymore. then he said how about monday at 6? i said but i get off at 5 something. then he goes okay then 7. i'm okay then fine. he told me the address is 244 35th st 7th & 8th ave. 2nd floor 206. i alrdy thought .. room 206? .. that sounds small .. sigh.

1hr later HE CALLS AGAIN. I SAID UM DIDN'T YOU JUST CALL ME BEFORE? he said "oh? i did? what's your name again? and when's your appointment?" i said monday at 7 then he said ok see u on monday bye.

today is monday. 212-244-4483 called me and i missed it cause i was in school. this lady left me a voicemail talking so damn fast i had to replay it 20x trying to figure out wth she said. her she said "Hi ......(long pause) this is shannon from M entertainment and would like to confirm your 7 o clock appt. this is 212-244-4489."

so i really find this thing too good to be true and suspicious so i googled it just now. 30mins before the appt LOL. and i found this. thank god. i do not wanna be scammed up there and waste of my time and money. fck them. Craiglist can't always be trusted.

I went to 224 W. 35 street room 206 the other night.  It's called M.  They packed seven of us into this cramped room.  The guy calls me in (forgot his name) and shows me pictures of him and people he has worked with.  Tells me that I could make 175 an hour to 8000 dollars depending on the project.  Sounds great than he tells me it's going to cost me 150 dollars.  He says don't worry I want to work with you.  Thank god I had no money left on my credit card. He kept trying starting with 150 than 120 than 80 and etc....  eventually asking if I had twenty dollars on me to start I said no.  Told me to come back another day.  I definately will not be going back thanks to this site.

Thank you for the advice. Just got a call from 212-244-4431 with a low tone voice. The speaking is so fast, unclear, hard to get their address.

Got a call from 212-244-4431 & 212-244-4487 & 212-268-9734 in response to a Craigslist posting for Extra work. They are a scam and the BBB (http://newyork.bbb.org) gives them an "'F" rating under the business names they use. They are located at 224 West 35th Street, STE. 216, New York, NY 10016 since at least 2008. They have started scamming againg now in 2010. Callers are always fast talking and highly unprofessional. Beware of calls late in the day and requests for meeting on weekends as well as money or signing any contracts. They will likely blackmail you for whatever you are worth according to all purported evidences real and online. They conduct business via internet and Craigslist, Interstate Commerce and therefore there are possible felonies at hand. Further web searches indicates that this "company" is currently under investiation by the NYPD and the FBI. They are a small operation of a few greedy people always using an alias for both company and personal names.

Grrreat.  First job-related call I get in weeks and it turns out to be a scam?  God is laughing, for sure.  Glad I was cynical enough to Google the phone number.

Recently I had responded to a craigslist ad after being burned once before and YES...I heard from a rather fast talking ghetto female who would not know professionalism if it bit her. Besides the fact that I was in a rush, something did not feel right. Based on the previous posts in this thread; it confirms what I already had suspected: this is probably NOT a legitimate operation. I will not be going to this appointment needless to say. Most serious companies do not give appointments in less than 24 hours especially when one does not have an agent or some kind of connection and even then, that is an exception. This just confirms what I suspected.  Thanks !

I responded to an ad on craigslist to be an extra. I got a call from a very unprofessional sounding guy that he wanted me to come in for an appt tomorrow, (saturday) wtf? nowai! I said that I couldn't and he said I could come in monday. He said he was from World Entertainment.

Today, monday, a received a call from a very unprofessional ghetto woman, who spoke too fast and asked me why I didn't come in for my scheduled appt. I had googled their number and read it was a scam and decided not to go. She wanted to reschedule and said she was from W.entertainment. Funny when I google that its a christian site.

Glad that I found this, cause I didn't want to waste my time going there for it to be a scam. Don't people know that people can google stuff and find out its a scam?

Here is the deal guys and gals, you will reply to an add that seems WAY too open to EVERY type of human being.. young, old ugly and pretty.. will speak about shoot times to start in two weeks or some other silly little thing to throw you off into a world of hopeful delusions. With the ability to speak in an english accent preferred..who knows they change the ads every week if not more often.
This is the fact about "W" entertainment- Two New numbers for these a-holios 212-268-9734, and 212-244-4431 the address 224 west 35th between 7th & 8th room 216 second floor; they are shady ghetto a** parasites  that do not even have an official company!
I responded to 2 ads on craigslist.. out of the 2,  I got one immediate call the next day with a real ghetto sounding guy named "chad" who wanted to rush me right in immediately!! It was 5:30 pm on a thursday! that's a red flag.. Wait you are searching for talent so feverishly that you MUST HAVE ME immediately.. hmm. Well next I "scheduled" an "appointment" for the next afternoon  after I resolved to research this W entertainment whom when I asked his super ghetto receptionist what the W stood for she said"West" entertainment, Gee that's creative since they are located on WEST 35th! What a leap huh?

Me: "So wait, do you even know what you are advertising for?"

Me: "No I don't understand, are you an actors rep or hiring for acting and could I have your actual company name and site?"
"Chad" " Let me get you a manager and you can speak with him"
Stop.. This is the part where I slipped into a vortex of doom because there is no manager and there is no company the call was sent up chads anus and I sat with my cell on speaker while I worked online for 15 minutes....
In short I am surprised if everyone knows the address (which has never changed by the way) of these muppets and they have been running this scam on craigslist for years why have they not been shut down.

They make you pay $100.00 for a website that's totally free.At first glance, the website seems legit, but after you make an account; nothing on the site actually works.You can't delete your picture/pictures once you've uploaded them onto the site! You'll be on their site FOREVER.These people need to be reported immediately.I would like for people who have been scammed by them to respond to this poster.With enough people, we can actually do something.
