Thanks! We've actually tried a variation of your ideas. Shouted that we couldn't hear well, couldn't understand, kept repeating "What? What? What? He eventually hung up but that doesn't last.

We haven't yet reported this # to the websites listed, but we will. This guy is a menace.

Several ways to get at them and have a good laugh to boot..
Play deaf, and when they mention "windows"  Tell them you already have some and don't need any new ones.
Play deaf, what? Can't hear you, speak up please..  Windows? Really ? I don't need windows, but need some new curtains.. (if they ask why you need curtains, just say I have windows *duh*) and hang up
On the next call, blow a whistle or boat fog horn.
Next one, pick it up and hang it up..  if you have do not disturb on your phone, turn it on for about 20-30 min.

Buy a call blocking device or phone, Amazon has a nice selection of the devices for under 60.

And don't forget to report them:

We are continuing to get calls from this number - 5 today. This has been going on for 5-6 months and the calls are coming to a landline. Today we told the guy to stop calling, to get off our phone line, to quite harassing us and when he called my husband  a mother f%*#er, my husband hung up.

Watch out - it's getting ugly.

I am sick of these idiots calling.  No one answers me when I say hello they just listen so I hang up. Is there a way to stop them from calling?  They call at least 2 to 3 times a day and when I called the number back it actually said this is a scam number?  unreal.

Scam... I played along to see what they were trying to get.  It looks like your identity through a executable file on your computer (they try to get you to run an existing windows file which displays personable information).  Not sure how to stop them- other than hanging up.

I have been called several times now. I'm told my computer is infected and that my private info is being intercepted. I asked him what my IP address was and when he could not provide it he became very angry and hung up on me. Ten minutes later he called back with a story about being disconected. He actually started yelling at me when I told him I was going to have my IT department contact him. Eventually he gave me the following; his name is Austin Brooks (with a very heavy accent) and his MicroSoft employee ID is MW6265 and he can be reached at 424-256-3700. The first call came from the 212-654-2312 but when he called me back the called ID displayed 80-072-4469.

Telemarketer
My experience has been very similar to all the other reports here. The first time these slimes called they got my attention, because I was doing a computer update job at home, and 'downloading a lot of stuff' as he said. At first thought it might be Microsoft calling as he claimed, but when I started asking questions his story quickly unravelled. I wanted to know how he was monitoring my activity, but he always sidestepped such questions with a lot of technical sounding tripe, which opened him up to more probing questions from me.

When asked how many computers I had, asked him if he did not already know how many I had.  But then played along and said I don't know, I would have to count them (to which he expressed surprise). Took a bit, walked around the room, then told him I had twenty. He thought he had walked into a bloody gold mine! He started in for the kill. He led me down the path telling me about their 'protection warranty' which undoubtedly is some sort of malware they would have installed on every machine. It was $100US for each machine to buy their protection, so I told him I had piles of computers to work on; only 20 were connected right now. Couldn't he give me a multi-machine discount? He asked me if this was a business and I said no, I am working a contract from home, so we continued. Went round and round until I finally told him these machines did not belong to me and I was not authorised to spend that kind of money on them; I would have to contact my customer.

All in all, I kept this wacker on for nearly an hour before he disconnected the call. It was my hour too, but quite satisfying in that I kept him from some poor uninformed victim for all that time. And bloody h***, I have not had so much fun since I told a telemarketer that I would not talk to him because I had 'felt a tremor in the Force'. LOL

They called saying they are from Microsoft Windows telling me my computer (I'm at work) has a virus which i had ignored their messages they sent to my computer. When I insisted on knowing to whom and how it was sent and what the messages were, he kept telling to follow this progress for him to show me. When I continually responded with questions instead of doing what he wanted me to he said he was getting a manager. As he was putting me on hold he switched to a native language (Indian or in that region) fussing. Another man got on the phone saying he was the manager and telling me to do the same process. When he couldn't get me to do what he wanted he hung up on me.

I was called by this number and answered at the second time.  As stated in posts above, a male claiming to be from Microsoft Technical Support said that my computer was sending out error messages because my computer was infected. The male who called spoke in a foreign accent that I could barely understand. I hung him up after he requested to work on my problem on my computer.  Don't fall for it.

I got a call with a caller ID "Viacom". The guy had a thick Indian accent, to which immediately aroused my suspicion. He wanted to help me clean up my PC. I just put the phone down on him.

I worry that some people will fall for this as most call centers are in India, just hang up on this idiot!

Prank Call
This guy with a thick accent keeps calling my parents house and saying the exact same thing everyone else has said. He says he is from Microsoft and that the computer is sending out information saying that it has a virus and the guy said that my parent's virus protection wasn't the right one. My mom has hung up on him several times and he just keeps calling. Today for some unknown reason my mom fell for it until I showed up and told her to just hang up and shut her computer down. She did but they just kept calling. So I got on the phone and gave them a piece of my mind! DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!!!!

The only thing i hate more than these idiot calls is the fact that comcast and centurylink sell your phone numbers out to them as soon as they give them to you. It's not enough that you pay for your phone...oh no they have to make more money off of you by selling your phone number out to these spammers!

These people continuously call to tell me that my computer is having problems. I tell them I don't have a computer and don't know what they're talking about. The guy then tells me to get a computer. I've told them numerous times, if they continue to call my house, I'll file a lawsuit against him and his company for harassment. He continues to talk (holler) over me until I hang up on him. If there is a way to file a suit against them, please let me know! I'm willing!!!
